Great stepping thru i have Gravely Reel unit . But i will be able to adapt you guide to suit ... Using Feeler Guage is a great idea .. So i will work forward from there thank you ..😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Feeler gauge was a smart play. Started backlap with it at .002 and it took 10min to have it razor sharp with 120grit. Thanks again just have to do a test cut after the monsoons pass me.
Great video! We use a dew whip to help disperse the worm castings on some of our greens before mowing as well as physically pick the worms up in the worst areas. Free nutes and aeration!
I should have tried a dew whip. I bet it works really well on sand based greens. I didn’t put enough sand into my clay. The worm castings I have are all clay and they stick to the reel in a bad way. If it were sand it would probably whip right off. Has that been your experience? Does it cause sand or debris to collect on the rollers of the reel? My guess is that would be challenging in morning dew?
@@ReelTurf It can be an issue on some of the fall days when the worms tend to be more active, Build up on the mowers can cause uneven cuts as well as leave all sorts of mud in the turning areas. The main issue during the season is with only one of our 21 greens, some wet mornings you can have hundreds of worms on the green and it actually slimes up the mower. Luckly we live in an area where we dont actually get alot of rain during summer
really interesting to see the "advancement" in technology on your flex compared to my old GM1000 and GM3050 with 4407 cutting units from the 80s. I think I have more freedom in adjustment but that also means freedom to completely ruin the equipment!
Yes, freedom indeed! The precision and easy adjustments designed in this mower make it so simple. I hope to get my hands on a flex 1021 some day and see how they have improved it even more. I’ve noticed a substantial improvement from the Flex21 to the flex2100.
Hey welcome! You’re going to love that mower. I would go with the tournament cut. Spend the extra money and get a hardened steel bedknife. From Toro that is a edge max or from rrproducts it’s a razor tool series. Reach out if you have more questions!
thank you for your recommendation. I noticed that it would not cut paper in the middle, left and right side cuts sharp. what do you think is the issue. The previous owner said he just replaced the bed knife. your help is very much appreciated
It happens sometimes after replacing the bedknife. There could be the smallest amount of debris on the bedbar when the bedknife was installed or the old bedknife could have been warped or bent slightly. The old bedknife has caused the slight taper in the reel. Just backlap it some more and it will eventually go away. If we were all pros we could do a spin grind to fix everything. It won’t take long to fix with 80 grit lapping compound. Don’t over tighten the adjustments trying to force it to grind. Let the compound do the job at its own pace and it will all work out.

Great 👍
Your son in the back shaking his head like “Mmmmhhm they gon learn the hard way” talking about those flat head screws 😂
Ha! Yeah he knows.
I use an impact driver to remove and replace the bedknife screws. Recommended.
Depending on the condition of the screw heads, I agree.
Yeah I thought the same thing that takes off rotor screws.
Thanks dude lovely from Tanzania 🇹🇿
Glad you enjoyed it!
Feeler gauges were the one thing I needed that I didn’t know existed thanks again.
Yep, Some little things make a huge difference.
Replaced a reel and bedknife and couldn’t get them to align, feeler gauges solved it then did a quick backlap. Thank you for posting this video
Glad to hear it helped!

@@ReelTurf will be rewatching tomorrow when my bed-knife from RandR delivers. Wanna Make sure i get the order/torque specs right😂.
Do you have a video on which belt to replace if the drive system is slipping?
Maybe this will help you locate the issue: ruclips.net/video/rfHieDPkCJo/видео.html

🌞Extensive video, no Toro yet, but will keep this in mind if I get one. Thought about one for a backup to my Allett or going lower.⛳
Glad you enjoyed the video! Buy yourself a Toro and your Allett will become your backup 😉
