Replaced my camshaft sensor on my 2005 Honda Civic lx. Works completely fine now, thank you so much for this video. Liked and subbed. Ps I have no mechanical background so this was very new for me, being a broke college student I’m forever grateful for this video
Im about to get this done. Hopefully it wont take too long and I wont bust anything. Thanks for the step by step. Here goes nothing from not a car guy.
Hi, is it necessary to put the spocrets on time for replacing the sensor? I've seen other videos and they don't put the spocrets on timing marks, thanks for the video
You do need to take the valve cover off since it is jammed in by the cover. But I was able to create a small door using a sharp utility blade being careful not cut deep. You should be able to close it with the same 10 mm bolt and silicone to seal it good. Blessings
Hello brother my 2002 honda civic 1.7 is having some issues..the check engine light comes out and the car doesn't want to go past 10 miles por hour and the car starts to overheat...the mecanic checked and diagnosed a bad camshaft sensor thars why the check engine light its on...can it possibly be that or my car has another problem please respond...
I didn’t adjust it to top dead center after. It ran fine for about three start ups now it won’t start. I’m guessing I have to take it out and start again?
Do you have to change the camshaft sensor after you do your timing, what if you put it in before you realized your timing was off and tried starting the car a couple times then fixed the timing, does it affect the way the sensor works? I noticed you did the camshaft sensor after the timing was lined up.
Reason I ask is did the timing belt tensioner pully water pump and spring camshaft and crankshaft sensors, plugs and coils tune up was needed but right after timing job was done engine light and code p1129 MAP senor came on and wont stop coming on and I changed the Map sensor and the IAT senor but the MAP senor code P1129 still comes back. I change my alternator both the squeaking went away but I think I over tightened it and now my car's missfiring , I untightened it to where we supposed to be and its still misfiring. Next day they got super cold from around 69゚ down to 30 the next day and now my car won't start. Do you think it is the sensor going to the junkyard today
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, looking to do this on my brother's car this weekend. Is replacing the valve seal necessary if its in good enough condition? Cheers!
@@JM8686 Managed to swap the sensor out without any issues. My brother mentioned its idling a little rough (after the swap, but wasn't very clear). Could it be related to the new sensor? I really like the video. I appreciate you making this. Will a bad camshaft position sensor by chance have anything to do with my random cylinder misfire? I've changed the spark plugs and coil packs and still getting this reading.....
Lucky Gray hello how is it going thanks for the kind words and for watching!! I'm guessing you are getting the p0300 code?i would start with basics ,plugs are new so check compression and see if you can narrow down the misfire to an specific cylinder
Yeah either the sensor or the plug is messed up! 80% chance that you're sensor is bad! 20% chance that the plug for the sensor is damaged or disconnected!
I have civic 2005 and it shuts off while driving and start again and drive with out any problem. It does not show any code and engine light. It keeps dying randomly. what can be the issue?
Thanks for watching nd the comment, and there is no need to align the timing marks to replace the sensor,i did that just to show where the Mark's were supposed to go!
I found the video useful. You should talk more in the video though. I subscribe to the channels where the tech tells you what size the bolts are as they go thru the operation. You did do that after you got inside the valve cover . Thanks.
To be honest I'm always removing the timing covers on my cars that have a timing belt lol and their purpose is to keep dirt or any other crap out of the timing belt 😂

Dude, you cranked that out fast. You almost made it look too easy. I’ll allow myself an hour and a half to two hours 😂 How long did it take to clean up the valve cover and what did you use?
@@JM8686 While I'm in that timing belt area should I just replace the timing belt and water pump? And do you recommend only using genuine Honda parts, or does it matter?

Nice video man! Last week I got the p0341 code I watched this video while working on my car and worked out pretty good. Problem is that the check engine light came back on again with the same code! P0341. Hope you can help
Did you replaced the timing belt? Also, have you replaced the cam sensor? Make sure the connection is not broken or there is a spliced cable If sensor and connections are good then you might have a jumped tooth on the timing chain
JM8686 No I haven’t touched the timing belt but I did replace the cam sensor but the check engine light came back on after a few miles of driving. I’ll check the timing chain Thanks for the input bud👍
When I did the initial scan, we had 2 codes - P0366 Crankshaft Position Sensor range/performance problem and also the P1361 Camshaft Position Sensor. I swapped out the Camshaft Position Sensor because that was the most concerning when it would shut down my brother's car when driving, I didn't touch the Crankshaft Position Sensor though. After reconnecting the negative to the battery (disconnected for about 1hr), I ran another scan and both codes had cleared. Could they be related to each other or should I also be looking at the Crankshaft Position Sensor? I also cleaned the throttle body and changed his spark plugs. Thanks again, my man!

I just repleaced crank shaft sensor and still nothing im thinking now of doin the cam shaft position sensor on my last luck. I checked the fuel pump and its ok its shooting. Idk what else to do
Got compression, spark nd fuel? No spark ,good fuel good compression
JM8686 sorry meant i checked for spark and nothing. I just changed the cam sensor & crankshaft sensor thinking it was that and nothing. Fuel is good though. Its trying to start and nothing. And i just saw that when i try to start it and i press down on accelerator it shoots coolant from the reservoir
If i remove valve cover and timing cover Can I just replace the sensor and call it a day or do I really have to do exactly everything you did?
It could be done
🤘
I really like the video. I appreciate you making this. Will a bad camshaft position sensor by chance have anything to do with my random cylinder misfire? I've changed the spark plugs and coil packs and still getting this reading.....
Lucky Gray hello how is it going thanks for the kind words and for watching!! I'm guessing you are getting the p0300 code?i would start with basics ,plugs are new so check compression and see if you can narrow down the misfire to an specific cylinder
Gracias brother eres buena onda

Nice video.im doing it right now.
Can I ask what your symptoms were?
Awesome
Nice tutorial,What's the socket on your drill called?
William N. Do you mean the size? 10mm 5/8 for the spark plugs and i think the 12mm also!! Tge flexible sockets are called swivel socket
Squiggly Doo
Please can u tell me how much to get it replaced?
What do you mean? You can do it yourself amigo 👌
I dont have the tools
All you need is a 10mm 12mm 14mm ratchet and extension lol
Where are u located?

@@JM8686 the thing is when i driving my car it goes to 2rpm so mechanic told me that problem is the camshaft sensor so no sure
Hi, thank you for the video! I have this default code P1361 in my Honda civic 2002. Do I have to replace the cam sensor?
Yeah either the sensor or the plug is messed up! 80% chance that you're sensor is bad! 20% chance that the plug for the sensor is damaged or disconnected!
@@JM8686 Ok, thank you
JM8686 I have a P1362 and P1361
I have a 1361 code, and it says CRANKshaft SENSOR, not CAMshaft sensor... I think there are 2 different ones?
What's ur impact gun called
Snap-on 3/8 electric impact
I have civic 2005 and it shuts off while driving and start again and drive with out any problem. It does not show any code and engine light. It keeps dying randomly. what can be the issue?
When dies does starts right away? Have u done any work recently?
@@JM8686 yes starts right away. I changed oil only.
This happends to me also
Thanks for this! Have to do this on a 2003, but the ABS module is in the way.
No problem and sucks that ABS on the way 🤦♂️
That was fast, thanks for showing, my question is is necessary to align the timing marks? If so how u crank it up?
Thanks for ur advice
Thanks for watching nd the comment, and there is no need to align the timing marks to replace the sensor,i did that just to show where the Mark's were supposed to go!
I found the video useful. You should talk more in the video though. I subscribe to the channels where the tech tells you what size the bolts are as they go thru the operation. You did do that after you got inside the valve cover . Thanks.
Thank you for watching and thank you for the tips highly appreciated 🙌
Do u have to have a timing cover? I understand its there for a reason. But what exactly? Thx
To be honest I'm always removing the timing covers on my cars that have a timing belt lol and their purpose is to keep dirt or any other crap out of the timing belt 😂
Dude, you cranked that out fast.
You almost made it look too easy.
I’ll allow myself an hour and a half to two hours 😂
How long did it take to clean up the valve cover and what did you use?
Thanks for watching nd the comment!
To clean up the cover took my like 10 minutes Haha and all i use was AWESOME degreaser but you can use anything
@@JM8686 While I'm in that timing belt area should I just replace the timing belt and water pump?
And do you recommend only using genuine Honda parts, or does it matter?
That's easy when there isnt a giant ABS module right in front of the cam belt like on mine
Been having problems with my Civic kicking into safe mode. I have put in sensors form AutoZone and O'reiley's. Spent the $92.00 for a OEM sensor see if this works.
Did it work?
nice work but you forget to put the cover now you have to disassembly and assembly all again kkkkk( sometimes happen :-)
Nice video man! Last week I got the p0341 code I watched this video while working on my car and worked out pretty good. Problem is that the check engine light came back on again with the same code! P0341. Hope you can help
What year make and model is your vehicle?
You can message me on Instagram 13b_dorito for quick response
2003 Honda Civic Lx 1.7 165xxx miles manual transmission & I have no insta sorry bout that
Did you replaced the timing belt?
Also, have you replaced the cam sensor?
Make sure the connection is not broken or there is a spliced cable
If sensor and connections are good then you might have a jumped tooth on the timing chain

They light will mix both of the codes if the timing belt got jumped! Or a bad chassis ground
Thank you so much I will do that and let you know aaaaaaa good video too
👌
you could not remove the valve cover and just tilt it up to remove the timing cover . . but you'll have to remove the valve cover bolts. .
Better remove clean and install new gasket or at least add silicon to avoid oil leaks
It's like surgery but on a car. Goddamn. I was hoping it wouldn't be too complicated but there's no way I can do that.
This one is actually kinda simple, 100% you can get it done 👍
Yeah girl seriously this stuff isn't as tough as it looks
so I have a 2004 Honda Civic just bought it and all it does is crank but won't run... brand new spark plugs and coil packs.. what can it be ??
Make sure you have spark, fuel and compression
Slow down man no need to be in such a rush. That impact on that soft 10mm kinda hurt to watch

Explota por el escape
Se tirones y se apaga y
No da más de 2000 rpm

I will never let this guy work on my car, he is muscling parts out and into place! I wonder if he retrieved that first cam cover bolt he dropped? He didn't reinstall the black timing belt cover😲😲😲
Good take your car and money to the dealer 🤘😂🤘
JM8686: exactly what I was thinking..I'm assuming by his own comment he's never busted knuckles working on his own vehicles or he would know sometimes muscling parts is the only way..any mechanic worth a shit knows how to muscle parts without breaking them..muscling doesn't ALWAYS equal broken parts/sensors etc..great video by the way gettin ready to replace mine tomorrow an then maybe the crankshaft sensor, I'm NOT looking forward to that at all.Any video diy's for the crank sensor.??
Thanks for watching and the comment 🤘
Also don't have any crank sensor video but you can contact me on Instagram 13b_dorito since i could send you the diy from my "on demand and Mitchell service system"
JM8686: ok have a question for you at this point I'm EXTREMELY frustrated so hopefully you'll have some input bro..Ok so I have a 2001 Honda civic w/ 1.7l was swapping some aem wheels on it n installing my steering wheel boss kit after car started right up no problem drove it about 15ft and it died then tried starting it back up an nothing just turns over..I've checked all fuses/relays,fuel pump, replaced cam sensor, checked timing belt and timing which both were good can smell fuel when cranking it also have good spark tried spraying starter fluid in the intake still wont fire up. I'm going to replace the crank sensor Tom but not holding my breath for that to make a difference..any ideas what else to check? I understand your busy man so any help would be appreciated..thanks again
Thanks for watching and yeah here to help!
First we need spark
Second we need fuel
If you got those 2 then Check compression!
Only focus on those 3 things before buying unnecessary parts!!
