Hi, I am due for an upgrade really soon and I am seriously considering to get this 3a. I am curious to know how is the Pixel 3a holding up? Does it have the same problems with charging, random rebooting, and screen issues as the flagship Pixel 3?
Considering the Pixel 3 isn't really a performance beast anyway, I don't think you're compromising a lot by getting the smaller variant. In fact, from my point of view you're gaining significantly - no hideous notch, 3.5mm jack, plastic body (don't care for a break-prone body).
Hi there, I am getting a refurbished Pixel to produe our new TikTok videos for mental health charity. So we can have a main smartphone to keep in the office and avoid having to do that on our personal phones.Of course we are on a budget. Would you recommend Pixel 3aXL or 3XL for shooting videos and upload them on our website and social media? Come both around 130£ refurbished.
Honestly if they did the front facing speakers on the 3a I would buy one right now. It's literally the only feature I want that is on the 3. Better battery life, lower price tag, lighter weight, headphone jack! ... Haven't seen anything this good looking since the pixel Xl.
Actually quite the opposite I have the pixel 3XL and I must say it is the least attractive notch but probably the most efficient I think that's what they were going for efficiency not looks
I'm okay with the notch but the fact that it has a thicc chin what's the use of notch? Notch is to make a phone bezel less and if it has such thicc chin making it the device only more uglier, I'd go with Pixel 3a XL.
Just bought a 2xl for less. 835 Snapdragon to 3a's 670 snapdragon. Camera is not that different f2.4 to f2 and the biggest decision for me was water resistant
What's the whole deal with the headphone jack? I mean other than getting a type-c pair of earphones, is it really a inconvenience? Personally it hasn't bugged me to use a dongle or headphone adapter or ultimately the type c earphones. Personally I'd rather have Google focus on having some good wireless headphones
There are plenty of comparisons around. Basically, it's just slightly slower. In normal use, it's not an issue. The 3a is as fast as the original Pixel phones, if that helps. Apparently, it runs games pretty well too.
I know it is budget phone and all, but it still amazes me how google managed to make the lower chin even bigger on the 3a phones, and of course removed the front firing speaker that gave that huge chin a reason kinda!. I hope google will start to focus a little on their phones now with the 3a phones which I consider a step in the right direction nonetheless -still kinda sad they went with SD675 for both phones and not used the new SD7** introduced recently-, it could have been a smash for google if they introduced it last year. hope this year they will make their phones more compatible with flagships design and specs while maintaining the pillars of a pixel.

My wife and I just purchased 2 Pixel 3aXL phones from our carrier's website. I think we got a good deal as the phone was advertised for $299.99 usd on their site plus we each had a $200.00 phone upgrade credit which they also applied so in the end we paid $99.99 + tax usd for each. I'm not sure how they will hold up months or years down the road but they are doing just fine for our purposes now; btw the camera is awesome and the twin speakers sound really good. The headphone jack is a major plus.
It does like Google is moving in the right direction with the 3a and 3aXL price wise - very much like the Nexus days. My major concern would be with the 670 processor. There are already people with lag problems on the Pixel 3XL after a certain amount of time (although not everyone reports this) and surely a less potent processor in the 3a will only make this a stronger possibility. Plus, for me, I really like wireless charging and the security of water resistance, so that might put me off. Otherwise though, these look like really good phones.
The 670 processor is as fast, or faster (depending on the task) than the 821 processor in the original Google Pixel, which is not exactly ancient. It's not a slow processor. It's still faster then almost virtually any phone $400 or less. The only noticeable slowdown you'll encounter regularly is launching apps, when it might take slightly longer to come up.
3a XL is bigger than the 3XL with an even bigger and useless bottom bezel yet a smaller screen. Both ugly. Both old fashioned. Both still over priced. Android One is not enough.
The 3a XL is a superb phone. Superb stereo speakers which are better balanced than the 3 XL, superb audio quality on phone calls, better battery life, basically the same excellent camera set-up and no notch.
Phone is a phone when we die we leave it here here in the world we go with go this just for lifetime for me I don't difer because when I buy phones I'll just leave it here here in the earth
Am confused to buy between...pixel 3a xl and pixel 3xl (128gb) 3a xl - 11k 3xl - 13k .. For me ..gaming, camera ,matters a lot Which one should I go for ?
That is alot of money for very little when you consider all you can get from makers like ulefone, xiaomi, umidigi, or Asus and so on, for only $200-300usd. Things like 48 megapixel cameras, triple cameras, 7inch screens, 5,000-13,000mah batteries. I really think the name brand companies are taking advantage of their positions and the hype. I just think if you spend $300 or above it better have some serious wow!
The issues with comparing the pixel 3a to those brands are usa carrier support and software support/updates, the pixel 3a works on all carriers (including Verizon which I don't use) and supports all lte bands while sone of those other budget phones dont support all bands which means 3g - 4g/hspa+ is most areas and no Verizon or sprint support either. And with software you updates in a timely manner while those other budget phones from those companies you get slow updates or no updates at all and if I spend any money on a phone I expect ot to at least get security updates but not always the case, and with the same camera as the pixel 3 you will get better photos then most of those 48mp cameras just due to googles great camera app (hence why people port the app to other phones to get the most out of their budget phones camera. Sure it could be better and theirs better options out there for the price but there more compromises to be made like with software, user experience, and carrier band support (at least for the US) if the poco phone f1 had nfc and full us lte band support it would blow the pixel 3a out of the water with a custom rom in my option (spec wise it does too) just food for thought lol
@@Armstrongdickpunch Thanks. All good points. You definately have to do your research with foreign phones. This is very true. Most of the phones will tell right in the specs what bands are supported and alot of times what companies will be supported in the USA. If you buy from Amazon you have the added bonus of the reviews and being able to question the seller. Although be it, there will be a mark up unlike if you use gearbest, giztop, or aliexpress, etc. Most foreign phones are gsm and almost all unlocked unless otherwise specified. Camera apps can be dodgy until updates and again research when and if your updates are coming. As for camera quality, alot also specify what type of sensor too, sony, Samsung and such. Now umidigi f1 and f1 play are nfc supported and some others that actually have much better specs for $200 also. If you are looking for an easy, no reading necessary experience, just unbox and go,(elderly people or new to smartphones for example) then definately sticking to name brand USA stuff may be for you. Also with the foreign phones you may already know but a great deal of times too there is no bloat or adware. So extra space and not having a locked phone with a ton of crapware, if you know what your doing can really save in the end, headache and money. And then you can go to places like mint mobile that have $20 plans with unlimited talk, text and 8gb data(the plans go higher and lower) or textnow, etc. and have a great experience for very little. I think ultimately it depends on the person, however I stand by my feelings of the big companies needing to be more reasonable and not just expecting people to hand over their hard earned cash, hand over foot for mediocre products, no company needs $1000 or more for a phone. Not even $800. It certainly doesn't cost that to make. Its just making rich companies richer, and myself as a parent to Apple enthusiasts angry. And we shouldn't be expected to pay it. Have a great day. Thanks again.
@@PurpleRupees giztop.com They are not necessarily both 7 inch and 13,000mah. You get where i was going with my comment. (But there are 7inch phones, 48mp cameras, and 13,000mah phones) They definatley do have impressive stuff for all budgets. Just do your research before you buy foreign phones. Thanks.
@Nuno Herdeiro Then you were ripped off by a fake. Your not going to pay under $200 for that size battery. Again research. You can watch many videos on RUclips here even that show actual people testing these phones out. Common sense and research. If it looks to good to be true, it probably is. Good luck to you:) If you are real discouraged by the foreign models I think the Samsung A series and Motorola G series may have some larger battery models. Foreign would be Umidigi, Zen, blackview, and Ulefone for example. And remember if it's $50 it's not real!
What isn't smart about it ? These will get into the hands of more people who wanted a pixel but didn't want to spend top dollar. T-Mobile has the regular 3 and it is still going for $799. Not enough of a performance difference to justify the extra $400. Maybe unless you're a techgeek, but to the rest of us, the 3a and 3a XL will do nicely. Time will tell how good they hold up or not obviously.
I actually have the 3axl and the battery life is really good....I'm a heavy user of streaming music, RUclips and Netflix...I'll take this thing off the charger around 6 am and when I go to bed it has about 40 %
Same as him. Works out to be around 6 hrs SOT much of the time and around 40% battery left. I have the 3a XL. If I push it, I got around 9 hrs SOT for a few days when I was testing bit out and about 15% battery left.
Ehhh i just brought a pixel 3xl for $425 over a 3a and after a while, the notch doesn't bother me much. As odd of a design choice it is, at least the notch has a purpose with wide angle selfie camera which very few phones even have for w.e reason.
Yes, the screen flickering because of PWM at a speed of 242.7 Hz can be seen througout the whole video. "PWM = Pulse With Modulation flicker of the display, for some people it causes severe headaches and other neurological issues." - Some newer phones from China (XIaomi, OnePlus Beta ROMs) have a new "DC Dimming" feature that can be used to dimm the OLEDisplay.
From an american perspective where huawei is banned and xiaomi/oppo don't exist, this is undoubtedly the best mid ranger in the U.S next to the OP6T available which we been lacking in this market
It looks as though the 3a XL had the display size set to small and the 3 XL had it set to default (which is why in for example Settings, more options are visible on the 3a XL's lower resolution screen).
Perfect for me. I wanted a second phone for exclusive use in the car with Android Auto. It's a real pain in the ass plugging in my Note 8 to the Entertainment system head, and even worse pain in the ass when you forget to unplug it and have to go back to the car to get it. A relatively cheap phone, that I can leave plugged in and hidden away for Android Auto usage, and one that will get all the latest updates as soon as they are available. Now, just have to figure out a convenient way to have my Note forward my calls to the Pixel when it's in the car, and remove it from being forwarded when I leave the car.
Gonna be honest... I'm baited by the anime wallpapers

Love the cartoon wallpapers you got on all your review phones!
My wife and I just purchased 2 Pixel 3aXL phones from our carrier's website. I think we got a good deal as the phone was advertised for
$299.99 usd on their site plus we each had a $200.00 phone upgrade credit which they also applied so in the end we paid $99.99 + tax usd
for each. I'm not sure how they will hold up months or years down the road but they are doing just fine for our purposes now; btw the camera is awesome and the twin speakers sound really good. The headphone jack is a major plus.
my average phone bill on GoogleFi is $35 - they are getting you on the backend I am sure
Serial Experiments Lain, a man of culture I see. Subbed.
3a XL is bigger than the 3XL with an even bigger and useless bottom bezel yet a smaller screen. Both ugly. Both old fashioned. Both still over priced. Android One is not enough.
It will be to those who wanted a pixel but either didn't want to or couldn't shell out the cash for the flagships.
Seems to me that the 4 will be priced higher than the 3. So you have these to compensate
Does the pixel 3 have a video stabilizer?
Yes
Like the wallpaper ❤
The 3a XL is a superb phone. Superb stereo speakers which are better balanced than the 3 XL, superb audio quality on phone calls, better battery life, basically the same excellent camera set-up and no notch.
Phone is a phone when we die we leave it here here in the world we go with go this just for lifetime for me I don't difer because when I buy phones I'll just leave it here here in the earth
Watching this on my Nokia N73
Wallpaper?
Am confused to buy between...pixel 3a xl and pixel 3xl (128gb)
3a xl - 11k
3xl - 13k ..
For me ..gaming, camera ,matters a lot
Which one should I go for ?
the 3 xl has a better processor
@6:52 is my new ringtone
Wish the 3a had HDR support
No
Any other Americans here take his review more serious because of the UK accent? I do, can't help it.
I'd like to be educated on these 7 inch devices with 13000mAH batteries. I've never heard of them.
Sure it could be better and theirs better options out there for the price but there more compromises to be made like with software, user experience, and carrier band support (at least for the US) if the poco phone f1 had nfc and full us lte band support it would blow the pixel 3a out of the water with a custom rom in my option (spec wise it does too)
just food for thought lol

They are not necessarily both 7 inch and 13,000mah.

Does it have screen call?
YoungDAS 00 yes
They took a Nokia route making dumbed down versions of their flagships. iPhome also did this with the iPhone 6. Not always smart.
49% and 2 hours screen on time.....yikes!!!
I had both and ended up going back to the 3XL
Ha. I'm watching this on May 2, 2020!

Oh man. Your homescreens give me anxiety.
Just buy a pixel 2 .£329 pixel 2 XL £379..well better value
No. Buy pixel 3 for £485 on Currys. Only 85 quid more
That has a smaller battery, worse camera, and way less years of updates though
@Can we hit 4200 subs without videos? yup
Cheers just ordered the pixel 3a xl for 75 bucks tnx
why is the screen wavy? look terrible
I'd rather get a honor view 20 for the same price.
From an american perspective where huawei is banned and xiaomi/oppo don't exist, this is undoubtedly the best mid ranger in the U.S next to the OP6T available which we been lacking in this market
@@Abandex369 limited options unfortunately here outside of now this, Moto z series, oneplus and a few misc phones time to time
@@bl00dkillz what about Nokia phones
@@abhishekkrishnan5463 Nokia doesn't release half of their phones here like the famed 7+ or give us the weaker editions like the 6.1
Now the difference is 120euros here. Which one should I choose?
Well 3a is the better deal, there is no difference except screen size (0.4" extra). They both have a battery that will last as long relatively.
Those top and bottom bezels look like that phone came straight from 2014.
Who is best pixl 3a xl prices no 3xl
I nought a pixel 3 for 105$ it's definitely worth it
It looks as though the 3a XL had the display size set to small and the 3 XL had it set to default (which is why in for example Settings, more options are visible on the 3a XL's lower resolution screen).
All going bazelless.. Google still using huge bezels 🤬🤦🏻♂️
They aren't that big
