My favorite Elden Ring snack would have to be Shabriri grapes! I sure love grapes, it would be a shame if anything nefarious were going on with them!
I was expecting 10 minutes talking about best boy Boggart, but hearing Miss Chalice talk about all the other sources of food was just as welcome.

Yes!!! I love those video game cookbooks, have a couple actually. I was surpised that one doesn't already exist for Elden Ring. Hmmm we will have to do something about that!

@@jpegPS1try melting marshmallows and butter then adding it to rice crispies and red velvet cake mix. Stir it with some red food colouring and then shape it into the dumplings. For added effect bake a sponge cake, cut it to the shape of the jar shared and then cover it with brown fondant.

Horses can eat frozen fruit no issue. I freeze grapes in the summer still on the vine and will hang the frozen grapes on hemp strings and it helps the horses comfort in the hot weather of summers. Sliced banana frozen can be a nice treat too.

Part of me wishes they kept the option to have Torrent hang around and graze when you dismount him. Would add a little bit more immersion, and Torrent is a good boi who needs his rest and Rowa seeds.

I have never used any of the food items before so this feels like discovering a whole new part of the game even if it is as small as food it adds so much .

I never thought Elden Ring had this much detail! I didn't even think twice about the ingredients I picked up along my playthrough. Knowing that every item has this much thought put into them makes me love the game even more!
Now when I’m staring a boss down about to fight and I eat a turtle neck for “stamina” (but actually), I hope they don’t get the wrong idea!
ER lore so deep , even with foods
I would love to see more kind of obscure approaches to the lore of Elden Ring like this. Like tackling some of the elements we take for granted. Other item types would be super cool too.

The connection between the Rowa fruits and the Cranberries blew me away.
Just when I think Fromsoft has boundaries when it comes to inspiration and the research they do, something as simple , common, and forgettable as a fruit tells me otherwise.
It's the little details, and the sum of all those details that confirm me that games are actually cheap considering the amount of work that goes behind them.

On the topic of cooking or simply just crafting, I think it's wonderful that the option is there and you can get through the entire game without ever using it once as I have, which is funny considering I love cooking irl.

Just to also throw in, I looked up what a bolus is since there are quite a few of them. Apparently it’s “a small rounded mass of a substance, especially of chewed food at the moment of swallowing.
‘mucin holds the particles of food together in a ball or bolus’” so whenever you use a bolus in game you’re like a baby bird eating pre-chewed food
Honestly, the boluses are pretty practical when you think about it; they're a spongey ball of moss presoaked in an antidotal/medicinal solution. The mouth feel would be atrocious, but making use of moss's ability to retain fluid to pre-measure doses of curatives for swallowing on the go is sensible.
Never met someone with a taste for prawns I couldn't trust.
Honestly... I have over 300 hours in elden ring and had no idea that there was food or cooking in the game...

3:30 so i always just assumed that the turtles eat crab eggs, crabs, maybe even land octopi if they are small enough. Possibly mosquitos and slugs and whatever else

In BoTW and ToTK I have a rule and that is do not harm a fox. In ER, do not harm a turtle. I will buy or earn the meat, but I will not do the bidding myself.

I believe the reason the neck meat is used because of its long, thick appearance. I think any meat from the turtle would be nutritious and boost stamina. But if it is supposed to be a male aphrodesiac then association by appearance is also desired.
Never noticed the prawns were actually crayfish. Wonder what new foods will be in future DLC.

Actually even modern humans can digest raw meat just fine, the only reason we avoid doing it is fear of bacteria and parasite infestation. So it will be fine if the meat in question is fresh and clean, but if it's not... some of that stuff is not simply nasty, but straight away deadly. Many cultures have some traditional meals containing raw meat, like rare cooked steaks or sashimi. The meat of herbivores has lowest probability of containing parasites, the meat of carnivores is the highest. Omnivores in between, depending on a diet.
There are a number of reasons to favour herbivore meat over carnivore meat. The flavour is another, as is metal accumulation. Short version: lots of things tend to accumulate as you climb the food chain, including dangerous and hard to process heavy metals.
I honestly never knew about the cooking with a bone fact, but now that you mention it, I wonder if thats why they do that in the anime one piece, also I gotta try this with moose meat, maybe a cow bone could do as we can buy those easily. With regard to Boggart calling it "prawn" ... it might be a translation thing as the terms prawn, shrimp, lobster, crayfish & crawfish all kinda mean the same type of crustacean depending on the culture. In Australia, prawns & lobsters are marine animals & shrimp, crayfish & crawfish are fresh water animals.. but in the USA, shrimp & prawn are more or less the same thing. I think ! ;)
