"Drape in the same type of fabric that you eventually want to sew with." THANK YOU! Why didn't anyone tell me this before?! You just saved my hair from me pulling it out in frustration!!🥰
As an experienced sewer I always wanted to know how to drape. Your tutorial was detailed enough for me to give it a go. I enjoy your teaching style, you are very relatable, whilst giving the confidence of a professional who knows what they are doing. I will try draping in the actual fabric as it is a jersey. Thank you for helping me move into this new world.
Oh my goodness! 50 years of sewing and I’ve learnt a hugely valuable technique today. I’m so very grateful… not only for you sharing your knowledge, but for your calm, clear and relaxed teaching method. I’ve tried to learn this from books, but this is far better. Thank you so much. Greetings, once again, from the U.K. 😊
Thank You! This is the only time I've seen this being explained... draping and constructing a dress on a manikin! Normally I'll see a quick video of fabric being pinned to a manikin, then the video ends. At least the videos I find, there isn't any further instructions on what to do. So thank you very much for this detailed video on draping on a manikin! Please do more of them if you have time!!! I'm a new subscriber to your channel and love your videos! Thank you also for just being you and talking normal. Nice to see a real normal person making videos. Very relatable , just love your videos!
Thank you for such a clear, thorough demonstration. I work on fashion dolls and draping is probably the best method to design things beyond basics, and your video alleviated a lot of my anxiety regarding this method. Nooooow I just need pinnable dress forms of the dolls. X)
Another video! Thanks Catherine. This is something that I have always been reluctant to teach the students. I personally love to drape to make custom pieces. Thanks for this video. It’s interesting that we don’t know what we don’t know. Thanks for all the little things I didn’t know. Excellent. 😁💜
Thank you Cathrine, that was very informative and easy to follow. Purchased my dress form yesterday and looking forward to many happy hours of creating
Hi Catherine. I came across your video's yesterday and found your way of teaching refreshing. Looking forward to future draping video's. Thank you for sharing your skills and expertise. Warm regards.
Thank you so much for mentioning and addressing knit fabrics! I'm trying to upcycle/refashion a friend's old loop scarf for her by pinning on my dressform (set to her size) and was so worried it would just be a sack on the real person 😆 - but of course knits won't do that!
that's a method that I would love!! I want to recreate a dress I saw and this will be the way to do it. Also I find it hard to find dress patterns that don't have a horizontal waist seam, I prefer the long seams from the top of the bodice to the bottom of the skirt and they are fitted. I find the horizontal waist seam can make a person look shorter. I love a straight long skirt with a mid thigh slit right up the side seam
Thank you for this wonderful video.... very well explained and easy to follow! I am so excited to try and do this for myself. However, I have not yet bought a sewing dress form. I have come to the conclusion that an adjustable form would be best for my needs but I am still trying to decide on which would be the best adjustable model. So many varieties to choose from! Can you kindly tell me the manufacture and model of yours or give me some advice? PS I am between US size 2 and 4.

Draping is my favorite lesson to share with my students. Thank you for showing draping different styles right off the bat. Great tips.
Thanks, Jason! It sounds like you run a really wonderful program.
Thank You!

Thank you so much for this video! It was so helpful 😊
you made this look so simple....thank you
Hello. Great video. After you drape on the form, how do you remove it to sew it together w/out having to take it apart?
Hi. Thank you for the presentation. How do you create a bodice like that with great support on top?
Very, interesting!
Are you using regular pins? I thought adjustable dress forms weren't pinnable. Would love to know if they are!
Thank you! Just got my mannequin
Oh, fantastic! You'll have fun with that. I plan to make another video using my dress form this summer, using a technique called TR. Should be fun!
Thank you for the video
Amazing
thank you for this video.new sub here
Loved to 😊
How do you ignore the gap of the dress form while draping symmetrical?
What type of pins 📌?
hi Catherine I have a singer 151 dress form .how can I pad it .I really want to learn to sew but i don't like the space in it.
You can wrap it in batting and then muslin to cover the gaps.
thank you so much,I will try it@@CatherineSews
@@CatherineSewsThank you, I will try it .
Hi Cathrine where did you acquire your dress form ?
This one is borrowed from my classroom, but I think you can buy them from most fabric stores.
I saw this one for sale on joann fabrics store :)
@@gk6387 thank you
I like your channel better than Sew Anastasia, especially since your voice isn't Irritating like hers.
Thank you. I hadn't seen her before, but I just checked her out and I love what she does! Let's send some love her way😍
