After watching the video, I won't. Ever since I found a new local butcher who makes meat pies on the premises I haven't bought any Pukka or Ginsters pies or pasties. Had a gingsters traditional Cornish pasty in the air fryer recently and it was actually ok i was hungry tho but that pukka pie looks nasty 👍🇬🇧 SPOT ON ❤
So sad Pukka pies started out so good , full to the brim & all the favorite fillings. How 10 years have changed things , you can buy better cheap pies in the best buys down most supermarkets .
Things like this always start out great in order to hook the customer and then the quality takes a nose dive and the cost increases so you end up paying for less.
About the most disgusting thing I have bought recently was Brains Faggots from Iceland. These used to be meaty balls in gravy decades ago. I thought I would try them again after many years. The ones they sold me in Iceland, were just a small lumps of grey mush. I don't know if these were specially made versions for Iceland?
I can see it was reduced to 1.25 , hardly any meat and tasted awful. I have a family of raccoons living in my backyard, and I don't think I would throw this out for them . Thanks for the honest review as usual Gareth ,you save people a lot of time and financial pain .
I always remember fondly sleeping at my grandmas once as a kid and we had a doner kebab for tea and the next day she did what any good grandma would and made the left over doner meat and garlic sauce into a pie. A lot of years ago but i remember it being absolutely banging. 😂
There's no messing when you buy Holland's pies! Doner Meat Pies are a treat for the bin. I couldn't eat them. On Saturday Kitchen each week the celebrity guest gets asked 'What's your idea of food heaven & food hell?' They say what they like & what they don't like then the public vote & depending on how popular the celebrity is the chef host cooks whichever receives the most votes. You couldn't & would never say a 'doner meat pie' would you - would anyone? That meat will be whatever is left on the cow, eye lids, bits in between hoofs, gums, lips & earlobes. Pukka are taking the proverbials. I bet they cost about 7p each. Can't have my tea yet - they've knocked me a bit sick. I'd welly them French terrine's you had on the other review. They looked good. Been trying to find them online as a Christmas present. Another informative & educational review! Cheers lad.
You know paying more for less has been going on for as long as I can remember. Candy bars used to be 3 feet long when I was a kid and only .25 cents. Now you can hide a whole candy bar in your mouth and it costs $2.
Pukka achieved their goal. You bought it! Buy a pukka pie and puk it in the bin... They must've taken a leaf from the Aussie beef kebab with sweet chilli sauce 👎😕. Don't know where the red and green peppers idea comes from but it's not on a Aussie kebab ingredients list unless you ask for a Turkish shish kabob. So why are the British using it, beats me. Nevermind Gareth. I'm sure there's another nice pie out there waiting for your review. Cheers 👍😀
great video Gazz who ever decided that needs sacking am a pie maker i love them i made a chicken and stuffing pie with a jelly like a pork pie turned out lush . but that pie needs sending to pie hell lol
Id feel disgusted even paying 1.25. Love your honest reviews. Yeah dont waste your money. Pukka is way over rated. Higher cost and less ingredients. Thats been happening over so many 10s of years! Rip off britain!
Pukka, just lost all credibility with this, on every level! I don't understand the logic of these food manufactures, obliviously profit incentivized and driven, giving us as little as possible for a ludicrous price. But who would ever buy this crap again, after getting caught once. Only someone in need of serious therapy.
Hey G man👍I would probably have given that a go mate, so I'm glad you reviewed it(sorry it was naff) you've yet to be wrong with the things I've tried after your vids so I'll give this a miss and thanks for venting🤣we're all tired of the rip offs so it's good when someone like yourself has a pop at these greedy so and so's. Cheers Gaz ✌️🍻
At those kinda prices(even the full price) you can't really expect quality ingredients, more than likely all you'll be getting is stuff that you might also find in a cheap dogfood.🤮
That 'meat' looked gross, I've never had a bought pie yet that doesn't have a huge gap between the filling & lid, total rip off, another rip off is cereals, same size boxes but half a packet of cereal inside, Tfs, 👍😊
Inside of the Pie casing looked like one of those empty Caverns you come across in cave systems. With some brown sludge underfoot. Only way i can describe it :).
When you see that 7.5% "meat" you do wonder what percentage of it is meat. Everything about that pie was disgusting from the ingredients to the lack of filling and the absurdity of calling it a doner kebab pie made from beef with sweet sauce.
Producers are scrambling trying to get new customers but they're doing a bad job keeping their current buyers happy. It's experiences like these that make people move on
Cheap supermarket donner meat is usually inedible TBH, its basically only fit for pet food or farm animal feed, the stuff is horrendous. I think I'll be steering well clear of that pie
16 Grams of COW . Like Cows aren't that rare . and are bigger than Sheep 😁 i'd scrape out the shite and stuff it with chopped up sausage and pudding and hot sauce to save the day
Seems they've gone the way of Fray Bentos pies. It's been a long time since I saw a chippy offer both Pukka and Fleur de Lys pies. It depended on whether wanted a crisp top, to be eaten upside down or, Firm bottom to be eaten top crust up.
Never have been a fan of Pukka pies a Leicester firm with an immigrant work force, Kebab meat just a source of indeterminate meats could easily be dog or cat!
I don't buy their pies anymore there is hardly any filling in them now
That’s certainly true of the supermarket boxed ones, but those sold in chippy’s always seem to have more meat. Maybe they make two sorts??
They used to be great there shit now. Stopped buying em to.
I agree, They used to be nice pies but they are killing their company by cheaping out and not filling the pies and pastries
The microwave ones arnt too bad for filling but I think they are an smaller pie.

Good point!
I don’t think I’ve seen a single Donner kebab product in a shop that is actually nice. Nothing will compare to the local takeaway
Half a pie for £1.25....I'll be honest I'm considering making my own pies because they're normally around £2 a pop
To be honest much of that £1.25 was paying for air, they are usually £2.00, that amount of filling is taking the p*ss.
Had a gingsters traditional Cornish pasty in the air fryer recently and it was actually ok i was hungry tho but that pukka pie looks nasty 👍🇬🇧 SPOT ON ❤
Worst pastie EVER
You're welcome 😊
Don't rate any of their pies, Gaz🤷♂️. Never have done, mate👎. Pukka? Puker more like🤮
I always remember fondly sleeping at my grandmas once as a kid and we had a doner kebab for tea and the next day she did what any good grandma would and made the left over doner meat and garlic sauce into a pie. A lot of years ago but i remember it being absolutely banging. 😂
Great memories
What is 'left over doner meat'?
Donner kebab pie! That got my attention. So much promise. Love it - you make me laugh - just like the ingredients: where’s the meat!!!!
I honestly wouldn't let my dog eat this and I don't even have a dog
There's no messing when you buy Holland's pies!
Doner Meat Pies are a treat for the bin.
I couldn't eat them.
On Saturday Kitchen each week the celebrity guest gets asked 'What's your idea of food heaven & food hell?'
They say what they like & what they don't like then the public vote & depending on how popular the celebrity is the chef host cooks whichever receives the most votes.
Cheers 👍😀
Cheers John let's see what the best review brings.
That pie crust would great if it was filled with apples or cherries!
great video Gazz
who ever decided that needs sacking am a pie maker i love them i made a chicken and stuffing pie with a jelly like a pork pie turned out lush . but that pie needs sending to pie hell lol
Come on Gareth - I didn't even hear a "In my day..." during your rant! 😂 Agreed that sweet chilli sauce should be nowhere near a kebab too.
Oh dear! There's nothing in it but pastry and sauce, not worth the calories!
Id feel disgusted even paying 1.25.
Love your honest reviews.
Yeah dont waste your money. Pukka is way over rated.
Higher cost and less ingredients. Thats been happening over so many 10s of years! Rip off britain!
Pukka? They're up there with Richmond sausages. When I say up, obviously that's the "buy these and we're getting divorced" list.
Pukka, just lost all credibility with this, on every level! I don't understand the logic of these food manufactures, obliviously profit incentivized and driven, giving us as little as possible for a ludicrous price. But who would ever buy this crap again, after getting caught once. Only someone in need of serious therapy.
they just need to fill them up all the way and just charge the right price then they could just say on the packaging 100% filled with donor and saurce
Cheers mate, no worries
At those kinda prices(even the full price) you can't really expect quality ingredients, more than likely all you'll be getting is stuff that you might also find in a cheap dogfood.🤮
Frey Bentos pies are just as disgusting
That 'meat' looked gross, I've never had a bought pie yet that doesn't have a huge gap between the filling & lid, total rip off, another rip off is cereals, same size boxes but half a packet of cereal inside,
Tfs, 👍😊
Inside of the Pie casing looked like one of those empty Caverns you come across in cave systems. With some brown sludge underfoot. Only way i can describe it :).
Like the man in the last comment, I haven't bought anything from pukka for years! No filling all pastry..!
When you see that 7.5% "meat" you do wonder what percentage of it is meat. Everything about that pie was disgusting from the ingredients to the lack of filling and the absurdity of calling it a doner kebab pie made from beef with sweet sauce.
Ahh... Doner Kebab. Something that's either god tier, or absolutely abysmal, depending on where (or how it's made)
I wouldn't eat ANYTHING with the word KEBAB in it. The stuff is total muck.
Vote with your wallet! It's the one sure way to get a manufacturer's attention.
You're looking well Gareth. I might well have a go at a booze free diet for a while too ! 😁
Cheers pal
Just make your own pies, sorted. Get back to good home cooking. State of that filling.
Rubbish, Palm Oil and Fats yuk, red and green peppers????
Pukka pies are disgusting no meat no flavour soggy pastry just as bad as Richmond sausages no meat in them either
That just looked grim and a Doner Kebab pie-what on Earth were they thinking?
All pukka pies are crap now , same thing with fray bentos , 0/10 .
7℅? Should just say " traces of beef". Isn't there a minimum amount of meat that is enforced on a pie that claims to contain meat?
Looked awful! Maybe a hog roast and apple sauce pie would be good this time of year.
Wrong on every level? Like when I was having sex in a lift 😂
🤣
That empty space is worse than the beans! You're paying for air.
Another company making profit from scraping the factory floor and covering it in pastry.
