We can accept how truly remorseful the Astros are only after they pay back the 31 million in post season bonus they got and give it to the pitchers who lost their job in MLB due to Astros cheating, and give some of that money to charity too. Plus give the 2017 World Series rings and trophies to the Dodgers. Then we can accept their apology.

I raised two sons and was always against the "participation trophy's" the schools gave out during their upbringings and the same applies to the W.S. title. We didn't win it but neither did the Astro's legitimately so null and void the W.S. title for 2017 and possibly 2018 too if the reports indicate the same bs cheating going on with Cora and company

This is worse than the Black Sox, and it isn't even close. The fact that the MLB is trying to sweep this under the rug is absolutely baffling.
Listen here, Mr. Manferd: baseball fans are not going to forget about this. This isn't going anywhere. That title will never be viewed as legitimate by the baseball community, and this press conference made everything SO much worse in the eyes of anyone with an ounce of mental ability. Make this right and vacate the title, or step down and let someone with the sense and nerve you are lacking do the job for you. For the game.

It's not baffling. MLB doesn't want to hurt the Astros franchise too much, because then all the owners lose. They try to find the right balance between harshness of punishment and allowing revenue to be earned in a large metro area like Houston. they didn't find that balance, in this case.
They could use this as punsihment lets say they have a winning season ban them from postseason and no divison title . thats if they get that far
Just vacate the title and it will be a legitimate consequence and we will move on. I might add rescind the mvp from altuve as well because we all knew how good judge was that year. With everything in consideration now, judge was robbed. - once an astros fan
@@imscared8396 I'm a total outsider to baseball, but this seems blindingly obvious to me. How can a team keep a title when it's proven they cheated in large numbers to win it? That idea of not voiding the title seems insane to me.

To be honest, as much as I dislike them right now, I hope that doesn't happen. Players can use other ways to show their disrespect to Astros' players, intentionally hit by pitch should never happen in baseball.

The aggression against the cheaters will probably end the second they have their title voided. Sucks that some other team couldn't win it, but at this point the best they can do is just erase it from the record books.
@@Alic4444 Agreed, I don't think there is a fair way to balance all the issues. We know Manford has to deal a lot, and it looks like he is trying to make the judgment as fair as possible. I understand his tough cases, but right now all media and players are coming out to speak. I am not saying that I know things better than players and commissioner, I totally respect them. But in terms of this type of cheating scandal, harder is better, harder is clearer.

These players dont understand the damage done..... for the first time in my life.... I watched and listened to a sporting event and it was essentially fixed. It wasnt a fair contest... This damages the entire premise of two teams going head to head with their individual talents being the only determining factor in the outcome. That's the single most important important aspect of spectator sports

I’m watching this late in 2022. Sadly, Sid, the ‘buzzer’ story never came out. I think the league made it clear to everyone - especially journalists - that for the ‘good of the game’ this needed to go away.
Those players should be kicked out of mlb for life. They did way worse than Pete Rose. This is just as bad if not worse than what the White Sox did in 1919.

somewhere I came across a lip-reader's report that the last thing jose altuve said to his teammates as he approached the plate was "I'm wearing a piece!" watching it again with that in mind you can plainly see that is exactly what he said.
I heard either the broadcast or the replay system was put on a 8 second tap delay to try to fix the problem after 2017. Hinch's omission of a denial of buzzers is admission in my opinion. I believe the rumor there were meetings to coordinate the cheating. Plus, there is a photo online of one of the players with a wire tapped to his chest during an interview on the field right after the end of the game. I don't know if its a buzzer in the photo or if the photo is real but the photo doesn't look good.
