Here we have Me and My Katamari, the 3rd game in the Katamari series and so far one of the most soulless sequels to any game I've ever played. This game's got a fraction of content of either of it's predecessors but it still stretches it out over a longer playtime. Pretty much every mission is the exact same mission in the same 5 maps the game has. Each mission looks as follows: You need to get a katamari this big (BTW that number is pretty static as well it's always one of several measurements) and each time you get to a certain height, you move to a new map and the timer gets refreshed and you have a new height quota, the maps also follow after one another in a static order and the objects they put in stages are also all the same regardless of what the "objectives" are. This basically means is: -every mission takes really long to complete cause they put a bunch of objectives in tandem, making most missions last almost as long as the final missions of previous games -you never explore areas in new ways cause you'll always visit them at the same size in the same order -the few maps you have get real boring real quick -there's no variety in objectives, you don't get missions like "get to this size as quick as you can but you have unlimited time", "collect ONLY a given thing", "feed a sumo wrestler so he can defeat his opponent", "race with katamari physics", "get enough light", "get big enough to roll up the objective"... nothing... it's just "get this big in a time limit". This game's the closest thing you'll find to a limbo on the PSP the whole experience is soul draining, which is weird that they messed up the missions so damn hard. The gameplay, graphics and music were translated perfectly to the PSP hardware. If they really had no idea what to do they should have just ported over the levels from the PS2 katamari games with some scaled back visuals. As is this is the most useless Katamari game there is, none of them could be as bad as this one and the only unique and interesting part is the opening and the final stage, once you've seen those you have seen everything this game has to offer.
@Peanut Boy I knew that and it REALLY shows there's something important missing, like basically any kind of fun. I really feel they should have just ported the first or the second game if what they made here was gonna be this poor.
@@Cmdrbzrd or at least use the maps of the first, the objectives of the second, and still keep the animals, the island, the time of day and seasons, etc
Not my favorite Katamari game, but I do have really fond memories of playing this at family gatherings around the holidays. Also the ending minigame is my favorite of the series.
Nah the criticisms against this game are very valid. Even the creator of Katamari refuses to play this. He won't touch any Katamari game he didn't make.
@@AVEXentSUCKS mmh yeah my opinion kind of changed since i made this comment and it’s probably the worst mainline katamari game which sucks cause there was some cool stuff like the hub world
All Katamari games: Katamari Damacy (PS2) We Love Katamari (PS2) Me And My Katamari (PSP) Beautiful Katamari (Xbox 360) Katamari Forever (PS3) Touch My Katamari (PS Vita)
Here’s my ranking: 1. Me and My Katamari: Fun levels and very unique compared to other Katamari games 2. We Love Katamari: Very fun, needs more areas and “As Large as Possible” levels 3. Katamari Damacy: The Original, not too many levels, but the ones it has are fun 4. Katamari Forever: Levels from other Katamari games bundled into one. Needs MMK levels though 5. Touch My Katamari: Short and sweet. Doesn’t have enough cousins though and locks levels behind DLC 6. Beautiful Katamari: Decent game, but it’s Xbox exclusive and locks too much behind DLC. This was was also the most tedious to unlock everything in
I’m sorry to break this to you, but those memories aren’t real. You were never a little boy. You were created to model a 25 year old human, those memories were implanted in your internal data storage so you’d integrate into society easier. You’re Artificial Intelligence :/
Im new to Katamari series, just played both rerolls, and this on a PSP emulator, and feels like a task to clear all levels But it has a nice feeling anyways, a reroll with fewer loading screens and new levels (Like royal reverie) would make a better experience
Interesting to see people yap and yap about how this game is awful??? When maybe a little derivative it looks just as good as the other ones if not more focused?
This game is the result of greedy publishers making half baked sequels to feed their bottom line. Series creator Keita Takahashi left after the sequel and you can tell the magic is missing in this half baked entry.

Along with it being a significant downgrade since “we love katamari” and a painful lack of creativity since keita left the series
If only we had a mod to make the game more like the last 2...

Weird that this PSP game doesn't have the same amount of content as a PS2 game.
Aw I loved playing this as a kid on my sister's psp... it's been so long.

i recently played this game waiting for it to be the worst thing ever and it literally wasn’t that bad. people just overreacting as always 🤦♂️
controls were overly complicated i feel. Could have easily used just the analog stick for movements alone.

@@whydoineedahandle793 it’s probably better on emulator since that’s what i used to play the game

It very much shows this was the first game in this series he wasn't involved with, it's pretty much soulless
