They took the 3.0 6 and the 6.0 L V12 and made an original Jag V8 So a 4.0 L to fit with the same dimensions of those two previous engines. Ford was actually very hands off in their period of Jag ownership. But the supercharger might have been borrowed by ford. You could say that Ford owned Jag and Jag informed Ford back on a few things. I’m not a Ford fan but Ford as an organization was very clever in how they did this! They let the old boys go! To create what they thought would be the quintessential classic Jag! And so was born the XJR Their Hands Off Free approach was pure American ingenious in my opinion! I own a 98 XJR myself.
I like to see more usage of the J gate on this car on the highway. Definitely like to see more spirited driving. I can feel the mass going on freeway corners in this XJR car; but expected for a car of this size.
I havent seen a lot of cars that are faster these days, unless you are spending a decent grip. Late model X308 XJR's are a good buy at 10-15 grand for one that's running and driving well. I believe thats the most car you can expect to get for 10 grand these days. You can aim for cheaper but its most likely gonna be a project. A couple simple upgrades and it gets to about 425-450 hp at 3900 lbs, which is pretty respectable. There's crazier upgrades and mods that have been done and the engine and transmission can handle 600-800 hp and up to 700 torque. Ive owned a 2003 for about a year and a half and its an amazing car when it's all sorted out but if i didnt work on my car myself i wouldnt bother owning one lol
Do NOT push the valet button unless you have the green valet key.. To open or close the sunroof, push once and let go. I have a Jaguar channel, I also have an 98 XJR, The chewed up wire looks like the knock sensor connection
rear fog light button at the bottom, and front fog light at the top on the round split button you are wondering about, does the engine leak on this one, they have problems with the driveshaft seals, It is very easy to fix but people think the oil is coming from elsewhere due to spread with wind.
I do wonder if Jags are often loved more for their speed than the rest of the car. Take away the XJR model and you have the real balanced Jag it was supposed to be. However a certain little boy from TG helped make this car vey popular.
Clarkson owned one too. Said some very kind words about it too. I think jags are liked for their style and ride (a great compromise of handling and smoothness)

With the S button red light on. Select D. 0-60 5.3 secs. (Traction Ctrl Off)
If you hold the lock button in you can open or close all windows. And close roof. Same using key in door handle
I had one of them and loved it felt so good driving it. But so many little things would be going wrong .
Bottom light button is rear fog light.
S button is sports gearbox. Uses 1st gear from standstill and uses higher revs

Pull wiper stalk towards you for one wipe. First click up is automatic.
Those buttons on the dash, one is your front fogs and the other the rear.

That button is for the brightness of tail lights.
You don't need to use the J gate for pulls, it's for cornering.
The number, is the maximum gear allowed. Useful for going down hills.
Because it is a Jaaag, it is called a bonnet 😜
and it is a boot, which is large enough for several dead bodies or your stolen loot.

It’s a true Jaguar motor but it is very similar to a Ford motor in fact it has the same supercharger as the SVT Lightning and Cobra

The S button actually isn't a suspension button but instead a sports mode incase you just need that little bit of power
