- In today's first year teacher classroom set up vlog, my mom helps me bring in my book display, rocking chair, stage, and low table. I dive into going through the boxes that were left by the previous teacher, and stress out a little 😅 I hope you are enjoying classroom set up so far, because there will be plenty more to come! I know you’re concerned about peeling paint off the wall, but I think it would look good if you put “we are” over to the side on the left and then put all the other words to the right of it!

I feel you. I'm a first year teacher and the previous teacher left everything. I'm in a portable with limited storage and it's super overwhelming 🙁
We got this girl! I went through and kept what I wanted, and put the rest in the hall for other teachers to look through!!
I have those readers at my school and they’re great! I use them every so often because each set aligns with certain skills. There’s a booklet in there for teachers with lesson ideas, important vocab, etc!

I just binged most of your classroom prep/hauls/set ups today and I have to say I love your energy! Oh my goodness your books make me feel better about the amount of books I was given 😂 it has been like a 3 week endeavor trying to get through them all and label them.
I have 300 books in my library. I just got them straight and I catalogued them on Goodreads so the kids can look on my shared shelf and they can request them without touching them. It took a couple hours just to scan them but that could be useful for you if you are restricted.
I have over 500 books and have them catalogued on Excel, I wish I just did it on Goodreads to begin with because now I’m not feeling doing inventory all over again 😅

Your class is coming together so nicely! You have created such a welcoming learning space for your kiddos! My middle school classroom turned out pretty well this year too, kinda similar to yours, practical and put together. I filmed classroom set up videos too! Love looking back on the process!

That is so insane that the previous teacher left her entire classroom library!
She left everythinggg she had! I totally understand why, and will prob do the same when I retire🤣 it’s helpful but it can definitely be overwhelming!
FOR REAL!!!!! Command strips are not DAMAGE FREE it ripped paint off of my wall too!!!
You should try out putting your book bins on the top counter and using both the top & bottom shelves for books. Maybe it would work for you

Why don’t you move your desk to the section of your classroom that had all the boxes then you can use both sides of the book shelves? I think it would look nice having books on both sides of the window nook and it will help keep kids spread out while they are browsing.
That’s where my small group table and calm corner is going to be! 😬
