I think there was more than a year of it being pronounced Ar-s-eus. I've been pronouncing it like that since gen 4, and I can swear media at the time confirmed it. C before E in english nearly always becomes soft, like in ceiling, celebration, so it makes sense.
The game starts pretty slow and is a bit linear at first, but it gets really free and quite hard after a bit. A generous amount of grinding is needed for a pokemon game and that makes me happy. Not even done with the game and can't wait to see how they improve on future titles.
yeah I usually over grind and then the fights get boring but with this I never feel I am over grinded even the when I am it barel by 3 or below those irregular pokemon. also that fact if all my pokemon go down it not a whiteout you can run to fight again after healing instead of losing all the progress it took to get to that spot.

The shoe thing makes perfect sense within the context of traditional Japanese society. Shoes are left in a receiving area near the door so they don't dirty the house. They just didn't animate the character taking their shoes off is all.

One of the coolest things about this game compared to other Pokémon titles is how much they focus on the human characters. Also, many of the important characters resemble folks from the modern Sinnoh region, though they often do different things. For example, Cyllene resembles Cyrus, the leader of Team Galactic, and Commander Kamado is confirmed to be an ancestor of Professor Rowan
I love the chill vibes of this game. The music, the small community, it's so well made to make you appreciate everyone and the environment more than usual. I absolutely love that you can move while fighting (like in DQ11S) It's a small change yet impacts my enjoyment a ton.
This might be one of those few games where i'll be recognizing even all the random NPCs down to their dialogues do to how small the village is. The recent one in the list is Genshin Impact, I can name everyone in Mondstadt by a short glance.
The English Dub calls Arceus as "Arkeus" specifically because "Arse" is part of the pronunciation, and has it's own meaning in English, but originally it is pronounced as "Arseus"
I always thought of "Arkeus" as the legit pronunciation because for me it's a mix between arcanus or archaic and Deus (which means God). Archeus is also an alchemy word used to describe a part of the astral plane.
Update: I’m now 16 hours in and barely got Ursaluna lol I’ve just been trying to catch Alpha Pokémon and have only managed a few so far. This game is getting better by the day.

Pro tip! You are not required to complete each and every task in the Pokedex! Just get a checkmark on each row down and that should be enough. They also don't really explain this but before leaving the village through the gate in to the open area, you can cross a small bridge to the right and immediately on the left, there will be a wood fence with some of the Pokemon you have caught this far. You can switch some out that way you are not stuck with a party of bidoofs and starly the whole time
Please do a full playthrough of this. I've been a fan since the originals on Gameboy, and played every game since. I've been consistently disappointed in recent years, but this is a wonderful breath of fresh air and a hugely positive sign for the series. If nothing else it needs all of the positive exposure it can get to encourage more of this from Game Freak.
Yah, I don't understand the comments saying something along "this is great step for the series, but after Sw/Sh I said I wouldn't support GF again so I'm not buying it". If this game doesn't at least match the sales of Sw/Sh it would tell the Pokemon Company that they shouldn't bother having GF make more legends games and just continue rehashing the old style. If the game wasn't getting decent reviews I would understand why people are skipping it, but I don't understand risking losing what we've been given for what just feels like pettiness. At the very least wait for a black Friday sale if people really don't want to spend the $60.
I have started with Pokemon Red when I was 8 years old and honestly, this game feels so refreshing. The way they tried something new and didnt follow their usual formula, it feels more challenging and a bit more "mature", I really enjoy it. I am looking forward to seeing your journey and I hope you have a lot of fun!

@@aksis2133 As someone who grew up with Emerald, ORAS was such a _massive_ letdown after FRLG and HGSS. Gens 2-5 were the golden age of the franchise and HGSS-B2W2 were all the peak. Any of them could be the best depending on who you ask. I personally think BW is the best out of the three.
I would recommend getting a Petilil and evolving it with a Sun Stone. It’s got a reigonal evo in this game and mine was easily my MVP cause it’s got a broken signature move that raises its attacking and defensive stats and make its moves deal 50% more damage all at once. Also she’s just extremely pretty.
It's so exciting as a long time Pokemon fan to play this game, all the way down to the small details like moving in battle and using your Pokemon to gather materials. The mechanics feel so immersive and it's definitely an exciting, new experience. It's fun to see someone who's been out of the Pokemon loop play it as well, and it's great to see you have fun with it! I'd love this to turn into a playthrough if that's something you'd like to do ❤️

Yoo stream more of this game that'd be cool! It's a type of game you can play while off camera too since there are so many Pokemon to catch anyways so I think it's perfect to stream.
Some advice from someone who has made it to the post game. 1. Try to complete side quests and catch as many Pokémon as possible before moving on to main story quests. You will get good items and maybe some rare Pokémon in the process 2. Shiny Pokémon (Rare versions of all Pokémon. A different color scheme) are in the game. By increasing a Pokémons Pokédex level to 10 in increase the “rerolls” (the 1 in base shiny odds, 1 in 4096) or that Pokémon by one.
Didn't expect you to choose Oshawatt. Guias Nyx went with the same one, though I went with Rowlett. I usually go with fire or grass types. Awesome having the three different starters be from three different regions.

So dee, first things first congrats on not being a genoner anymore 👏🏾 So Pokémon games haven’t been “the best” for a while… but this game is apparently really good so I’m glad you’re expecting a good Pokémon game to re introduce you to the series! (Also Oshawot is the best starter.) If you are willing to check out more Pokémon games I would recommend Pokémon black and white, and diamond and pearl.
*platinum Diamond and pearl kinda suck to play, what with a slowass buggy engine, shallow story, and no fire types besides the start and ponyta (not to mention like 30ish of the new pokemon introduced in that game aren't even available in the main campaign). Platinum improves on every aspect of the game tenfold and is the definitive version to play. As it makes cyrus a good villain, a sped up & less buggy engine, a good regional pokedex, and a much better post game. It's just overall a better experience & game.
I've not gotten too far into it yet but love it so much it's a ton of fun, only thing I'm hoping for is that when I take my pokemon out they are able to follow instead of just standing still till you move away, I'd like to interact with them more.
34:36 "Why do my shoes come off?" It's a japanese household. You aren't supposed to enter with shoes, there's step just after the entrance to sit down and take them off. They just didn't animate that. To this day, they have outside shoes and indoor shoes (or you can just walk barefoot). It keeps the dirt from the streets away. It's actually a pretty good habit, ngl, I've been doing that for a few years.

I like that it isn't animated. Just imagine your character stopping and putting on/off shoes everytime.... yeah the seamless transition is perfect.

Ive recently gotten into pokemon. Currently playing through white and this brought about so much excitement
tbh BW/BW2 were the high point of the franchise before this IMO. Gen 4 and ORAS were good, but Gen 5 just hit different.

Yoo stream more of this game that'd be cool! It's a type of game you can play while off camera too since there are so many Pokemon to catch anyways so I think it's perfect to stream.

Some advice from someone who has made it to the post game.
1. Try to complete side quests and catch as many Pokémon as possible before moving on to main story quests. You will get good items and maybe some rare Pokémon in the process
2. Shiny Pokémon (Rare versions of all Pokémon. A different color scheme) are in the game. By increasing a Pokémons Pokédex level to 10 in increase the “rerolls” (the 1 in base shiny odds, 1 in 4096) or that Pokémon by one.
What a BLAST this game has been! May become my single favorite Pokémon Game in a long time! Glad you’re playing dude.

Did anybody else think that when they called themselves the "survey corp", thoughts instantly went to Attack on Titan? Like Jubilife village is the walled city and they want to learn more about the creatures outside so they send out the survey corp.

Looking back Rowlette was probably the best option since you can get a fire and a water type pretty early off.

Played this game for the best part of 2 days and only just realising Cyllene looks like Cyrus 😂 I was doing so well getting all the other references hahaha very smart to do a Diamond and Pearl remake before this one!
Believe it or not, the pokémon game with the best animations where games of table consoles, starting with pokémon stadium, a game from the Nintendo 64.
For a mainline game though, the attacks getting up close and personal with the opponent Pokémon is very nice

So Pokémon games haven’t been “the best” for a while… but this game is apparently really good so I’m glad you’re expecting a good Pokémon game to re introduce you to the series!

If you are willing to check out more Pokémon games I would recommend Pokémon black and white, and diamond and pearl.

Diamond and pearl kinda suck to play, what with a slowass buggy engine, shallow story, and no fire types besides the start and ponyta (not to mention like 30ish of the new pokemon introduced in that game aren't even available in the main campaign). Platinum improves on every aspect of the game tenfold and is the definitive version to play. As it makes cyrus a good villain, a sped up & less buggy engine, a good regional pokedex, and a much better post game. It's just overall a better experience & game.

bruh, that beginning part is literally pokemon mystery dungeon beginning but as a main series pokemon game.
I've not gotten too far into it yet but love it so much it's a ton of fun, only thing I'm hoping for is that when I take my pokemon out they are able to follow instead of just standing still till you move away, I'd like to interact with them more.

It's a japanese household. You aren't supposed to enter with shoes, there's step just after the entrance to sit down and take them off. They just didn't animate that. To this day, they have outside shoes and indoor shoes (or you can just walk barefoot). It keeps the dirt from the streets away. It's actually a pretty good habit, ngl, I've been doing that for a few years.
