My goodness i found myself constantly pressing the "Pause" button at almost every picture to get a proper long look at the amazing period cars and those old TV's and Stereos! Took me right back to my childhood!! Kids nowadays don't realise how much fun us adults had back then going to the Skateboard park with our mates n RC Cars, crashing them, breaking them while racing around the Skateboard parks!! Then taking your car home, fixing it with Epoxy Resin, Super Glue, Insulation Tape, or whatever was available!! lol. Magical precious memories!! Loved this vid Glenn! Thanks mate! Awww! Great video. I'll always remember getting my Grasshopper for crimbo. My Dad had already built it, so when i opened the box Christmas morning, it was ready to go. It was snowing that day though so i couldn't give it a proper blast. Not to worry though, as i just used to stare at it for hours on end. Happy days! A brilliant video.😄👍
So good ! Brings back so many memories. Being a kid with your Hornet in a backpack riding to the track . Breaking it racng . Going home with your mates , fixing it up for the next race . Not many kids today will understand the fun we had back then .

Have watched this one a few times bud... 1:43 is what it was all about for me. Sitting at the kitchen table in my PJ's helping Dad build my 1st R/C car on Christmas day. Not sure who sent that pic...but it was the same exact experience. The feeling of seeing my 1st R/C car done and built by my Pop is with me forever.
Great video Glen. Takes me right back to 1986 at secondary school and Thursdays after school radio control car club! Sadly no photos. I think I had some cheap dreadful rc car from Tandy’s at the time. My dads work mate took pity on me and gave me, yes gave me his Sand Scorcher that he’d had for a few years from when he was a teenager!! So Im guessing it was a very late 70’s one? Accoms transmitter, blue Beaties bag etc. I still have it now 😁. Found your channel early last year and it got me reminiscing. It’s fully restored and is original except for new rubber parts that all perished and a Sport tuned can. I’ve since done a re re Scorcher shell in box art with inner arches mod. Also a box art re re buggy champ shell and kit bashed a Big Foot shell into a box art Ranger 150 XL. Loving your channel keep up the content 👍🏼

My mate got a Grass Hopper for Christmas and we raced for hours together. Cars were going all plastic by then and the Scorcher felt dated and old. I remember buying a Ford Escort Cosworth tiger stripe TA01 for a ridiculously low amount off another mate not long after he’d got it one Christmas. His dad must have gone mad! Still got that as well, all original, even the tyres, all fully restored.
@@SB_170 that's awsome. It's funny as all the stories you hear from that era sound very similar. I have a ford escort cosworth also. I am missing one tyre as I dropped one on the way home from my brothers when he gave me a set of original replacements. 😢 I still love the hobby to this day and have nothing but fond memories of racing my friend as you did. @@iancanavan2324 They had Beaties shops all over the UK I think mate. I bought my Hornet from Beaties in Lewisham, South East London back in the early 90's. Was crazy seeing the Beaties bag in the video though. Bought back a lot of good memories.
Glenn you always put a smile on my face.. thank you for that. I recently had my house broken into to and had my beloved RC-10 and my 959 stolen which I had bought new in 86 and restored them fully. My collection although not as deep as yours but cherished the same has now decreased by two.. I had all the iconic buggy’s from 85-89 and to lose those two almost killed me but to see your videos puts a much needed smile on my face and takes my mind off what I lost and thank you for that. Makes me a bit sad as I was born just too late to be part of the golden era of RC. My dad told me there was even a bmx dirt track next to where we live they used to race on. Now it's just a car park. Oh my god that takes me back!!! My neighborhood buds all got hobby grade RC's in 86 and 87. The time spent at the track and street was some of my best memories.
Can't help but think when looking at this video that the world was a much better place back then.. I miss those times, Never forget how jealous I was when my mate got an Egress.

I didn't know anything about being able to submit pictures...If I knew about this, I would have busted out boxes of photos and scanned then in the my old flatbed scanner rig... kinda sad now.... I bet this was on twitter stuff.. well, either way, this was amazing... I would always love my Mum getting a new Grattons catalogue going straight to the back and looking at the Tamiya trucks, but I did also love just looking in the backgrounds of these pics the Christmas ones were perfect snapshots of '80s Christmas.
I love how the King Cab was the very first picture on the slideshow because THAT was my first real, hobby grade R/C car and it instantly became my favourite toy.
Those who had a car on RC in that golden age are bringing back the golden age of RC again. Like me for erxample. Got my big foot truck,used and modificated it a few years. Then go work,discovered the girls and the nights out, got married,made me a family. And now building the Volvo Fh 16 Towtruck and modify it to a 4 axle Heavy Special Transport tracktor with a 3+5 Fury Bear deeploader and a 2 axle dolly to transport my Catepillar D9 dozer. Got the Volvo Timber truck with a modofid wood trailer behind it. Modified to scandinavian model. 3 axles and a 2 axle a frame with smaller wheel. And a Palfinger woodcrane on it. The golden time is here with all the new stuff gooing and comming, but we pay now the price of diamonds for it

Memories😍 them were the days you could race a lunchbox with a rc10 and a sand scorcher and charge your pitiful 1200mah battery to the max by feeling how hot it got while it was charging.......it was just all about fun👍
Haha exactly that. I remember seeing a race with all sorts of cars in and it was amazing. I used to wedge my old 15min charger with a screw to be lazy and one day my batteries fried. My parents said they heard hissing by the Christmas tree 😂😂😂

@@TachyonDriver that's excellent. Did you first get into the rc scene early on? I remember seeing a chap using a rough rider in a car park, going through puddles and mud. As a 7 year old I could believe it. I had a couple of tandys straight after, then bought a frog off my mate. Nearly 40 years on and I'm still messing about with them. Thanks 👍👍
