- Taryn was having severe jaw pain due to a close-lock dislocation of her TMJoint.
Unfortunatelty, most dentists do not understand the importance of reducing a close-lock as quickly as possible. When locked the pressure is on the retrodiscal lamina which is prone permanent damage.
Taryn required a unilateral pivotal appliance too maintain the joint reduction..
She was seen today because there was a sharp edge on the appliance that was irritating her tongue. Painless opening was maintained.
