It is pretty simple. I actually filmed this one for my Father who wanted to install one at his house but couldn't find a video on how to do it. He installed his last week. The instructions are one page and very hard to decipher. You can probably get the unit wholesale for $65.00 and charge at least $120.00- $140.00. That will include a product mark-up and the install time. I good rule of thumb is to just double the wholesale cost on the lower priced installs like this and pool pumps & motors.
Hello sir, very informational video I thank you for that. I am trying to install a new model 300 and just wanted to know if all you have to do is turn off the recirc pump to replace this? Do I need to worry about closing any lines or is it just as simple as turning off the pump and heater?
Thanks for posting. I see illustrations for installing the inlet either before or after the filter, regardless if there is or isn't a heater installed. I have a solar heater and the previous owner had the inlet located before the filter. I need to replace the whole feeder unit (the cap can no longer be removed, even broke the cap teeth using the cap wrench, and the outlet elbow/valve snapped) but wondering if I can leave the locations of the connections as-is, meaning inlet before the filter and outlet after the solar heater? Thanks for all the info.!
Not sure if you will see my question, but I can hope! I use the product in your video. I have had a heated inground swimming pool, since 2007. Here is my question...This is how the pool company connected the off-line chlorinator this year when they opened the pool in May (2019). The top tubing is connected to a pipe that is marked Inlet, which is connected to my pool heater. The bottom tubing is connected to a pipe that is marked outlet. Does this seem correct to you? Thanks for your time.
Yes it is hard to understand which lines you're talking about when you say marked outlet and marked inlet. The line coming out of the bottom of your chlorinator should go after your heater You do not want to pull chlorine at this concentration through your heater you will destroy it. So if your pool guy hooked up your chlorinator putting water in before your water heater you need to call him up and let him deal with that extra hole he just put in your pipe it is a simple fix but it should charge you cuz he did it wrong
I have an older unit that was installed on either side of a solar roof heater.. but now it is no longer used. Do i install the inlet line prior to the filter now ? to create a higher inlet pressure into chlorinator or do I leave it where it is? Not all pools have heaters..
I don't know what you mean by your present setup. But I understand your question. The inlet line to your chlorinator should be tapping in before your water filter your pool filter. Exactly as you said. For the very reason you said lol.
What has your experience been with this chlorinator?? My pool guy is currently leaving the trichlor tablets in the skimmer basket, which I know is not a good idea. So I'm thinking of getting on of this in-line but wanted some feedback on the product first.
bludika There is a check valve on the bottom of the chlorinator - that little black elbow piece. Installing one inline would not be a bad idea but not entirely necessary.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 what do you think about offline vs inline? i want to install a chlorinator, and thinking of doing it inline because i honestly don't like the whole tubing method, and also i don't like to crowd the pool equipment area with another apparatus, isn't the only benefit of off-line is that it's detached and it's easier to install while inline you gotta plumb it, but i have no problem with that, a union here and there and it's no problem. I like how inline one's are part of the plumbing so it won't move anywhere and I don't believe i need to re-plumb after installing the inline one for a long long time, i think the only time i'll need to re-plumb again in the future after installing the chlorinator is when my heater or filter go out.
I am not a pool expert. But I have an inground pool with an off line chlorinator. Every winter it is removed and I store it in my basement. This is better idea than just keeping it in a pool shed or garage. In the 12 years since I opened my pool I have only had to replace it once. That was a few years ago and it is still working great. Hope that helps.
Good job this company gives lousy instructions nowhere in the instructions does it tell you what size hole to drill in your pipe. You make the wrong size hole in your pipe and you got a big problem you're going to be replumbing your pool filter system. Now this gentleman used a 3/8 inch drill bit that makes sense but there's a lot of thing different about his then mine So I'm not sure if something important might be different I got the so-called improved version which simply uses a white shut off valve instead of the one with numbers on it it looks cheaper actually it claims it's the improved version cuz it has the check valve but this gentleman has a check valve too. Okay point I'd like to make I understand that when you hook this up you have to be on the pipe going into your filter for the supply and then you hook up after the filter or after the water heater assuming you have one that is the outlet. The point I'm making here is because of the other videos you showed people are wondering where do I hook it up You showed a video where man had it hooked up after his filter and after his water heater. I do believe there's a pressure difference before the filter and after the filter which makes this work correctly so you must hook your inlet up before your pool filter and then the outlet would be after the water heater if you have one or after the filter. Thanks for your video brother I still got to make sure I got to drill a 3/8 in hole because he's more odds that send instructions don't tell us lol

Nice video. I own a small pool business and I learn with your videos. Thank you.

As long as the equipment is above the pool water line you shouldn't have any issues.
Wow, that looks pretty easy. Like around how much could you charge a customer for installing a Chlorinator?

This is for an offline unit. I don't have room without re-plumbing the whole system to add an inline model :(
It should be fine. I usually will just swap out the units and tubing and use the original install point.

The outlet should be after the heater. I would have to see a photo.

This is the best model Rainbow makes and it is superior to the Hayward or off brand ones. It will work very well for you.
Very informative video. Thank you!
Do you need a check valve when you install an offline chlorinator? Or is that only necessary for an inline version
bludika There is a check valve on the bottom of the chlorinator - that little black elbow piece. Installing one inline would not be a bad idea but not entirely necessary.
Swimming Pool Tips, Reviews & How To -MrDgvb1 my understanding is, the check valve is only necessary if installing an In-Line one, is that correct?
bludika Yes. The Offline ones are designed differently. You will be fine without one.

bludika Inline is better if you are up to it. Out of the way and far less prone to clogging and leaks.
Great video, thanks so much.
You need to move camera more slowly when panning. Take your shots from farther out as well as close ups.
I have gotten better I think - earlier videos I was still new at filming.
One question: I live in Minnesota. Should I remove the chlorinator in the winter?
