    That's my great uncle #37 Pat Fischer, I met him 1 time after the 1973 Lions/Skins Thanksgiving day game in Detroit, my mother is actually older than her uncle Pat by 3 months, little Pat Fischer, he was the 4th and final brother to play football for Nebraska

    I went to this game. Jets running back was impressive, a guy named Riggins.

      ABC showed college football games on the 2 Monday nights following this game -- Missouri upset Alabama on September 8 in Birmingham, and Notre Dame whipped Boston College on September 15 in Foxboro, Mass. The NFL regular season didn't open until September 21-22.

    Good game for a pre season game. They actually played most of the regulars a good part of this game. This was in the time when the NFL played 6 pre season games for each team. That was a nearly half a regular season. How crazy was that? But the game was better then and this was enjoyable to watch. Thanks for posting.

    • @josephhewes3923

      They played 6 pre-season games because in those days, they didn't have year round facilities, and year round workouts for players. The pre-season was for two purposes. Evaluating players and getting in shape.

    I was at the game behind the Jets bench. Watching Namath warm up was a real treat. He had a throwing motion that was like a big windmill and could put the ball in a breadbasket from 50 yards away.

      @@JayDogTitan-he6wo that is what makes a pro. Knowing where to throw and the accuracy to get it there. Most pros have the arm strength. His throws were magical. I recall Joe Montana saying every one thinks he is out there throwing darts at balloons, when in reality he is throwing balloons at darts. Very good analogy.

      He was still playing for the Jets. At the 3:30 mark Frank says that Riggins started but pulled a muscle and wouldn't play for the rest of the game. He was traded to the Redskins the following year, BTW.

    • @johnliberty3647
      @johnliberty3647 6 лет назад

      Yeah I couldn't remember the year, so I had no idea which team he was on for that season. I actually miss a lot of commentary because I am hearing impaired I only catch about 50% of the words in a decent recording and this one is old so I catch more like 25% of the words.

    • @SingleTax
      @SingleTax 5 лет назад

      Riggins was miserable when he was with the Jets, because (a) he was always overshadowed by Namath (who frankly should have retired after the '73 season in light of how banged up -- and torn up -- he was physically), and (b) the Jets just plain *sucked* in those days.

    The Washington Slurs never won a SB uder Allen because of 2 reasons 1 MY BELOVED Cowboys, AMERICA'STEAM and 2 The stuck with GARBAGE at QB They traded for so many players, why never a QB? Because Allen thought the QB was overrated. Just because Roman Gabriel was not everything he was supposed to be you do not make a determination the position is overrated. THANK YOU for posting it is nice to see Joe Namath

      Allen Proved Not the Best judge of QBs - He favored Kilmer over Sonny Jurgensen (when he was not hurt) and he made Theismann sit for Longer than he needed - But all that Being Said Billy Kilmer Flaws and all had some really good years - I think it was the decline of their running game that held them Back in the Mid 70s - You Mention Dallas Yes - But the Vikings made 3 super bowls and the Skins after all Lost to the Undefeated Miami Dolphins in 1972 - Just like 16 other teams who lost to the Dolphins.

    It so ....HOPELESS rooting for these bums without Broadway Joe. I try to have fun and not research the game first as to stats.this car is setting black QB's a decade LOL. Roger, hell Craig Morton would be going up and down the field on the Slurs. I did however have some special time with Kenny Houston in 1996 at the Cowboys road team hotel. See the night before the last game at RFK they Slurs alumni had a party had the Cowboys team hotel. The game meant NOTHING to us since we won the division already and could not move in the home filed advantage dept. Hell we knew Troy and Emmitt were not playing before the game while the Skins were preparing like it was the Super Bowl. I hung out with Kenny Houston, he liked me because I am a Cowboys historian and love talking old Cowboys/Redskins..he was ignoring skins fans to hang out with me. I had front row seats field level end zone where the Skins always put us....Kenny even shared a special moment with me during halftime....he is a good man. ON he other hand I got into a shouting match with Doug Williams....a fist fight in the elevator with Mark May AND in the lobby ith Dexter Manley. Dex was with some whores and he made a comment about us Cowboys fans.....now I agree....we have A LOT of bandwagon fans that I hate....but fans spending over $800 or more to travel with the Cowboys....WE are not those fans.so I asked him if he learned how to read his Super Bowl ring yet....LOL.....OH BOY he did not like that.....I did for my ma Danny White....STILL the GREATEST rivalry in sports is Cowboys Redskins.

      @johnellizz 2 года назад

      @@stevengallant6363 Yes, I was insane to think Tom is as good as Randy Johnson haha.
      It's like how you know that a movie isn't real. Take a Star Wars film: The Stormtroopers are professional soldiers who train and take target practice. We know they are competent at aiming and shooting at their enemy.
      But when they take aim at Luke or Han Solo, we expect them to miss the shot every time.
      This is called 'plot convenience'. It's convenient for the Stormtroopers to become incompetent when they fire at the main characters. (Otherwise the story would end abruptly with the death of Luke and Han.)
      This same plot convenience is usually evident in Tom Brady's football games.
      His opponents, usually professional, powerful and determined, become amateurish, weak and soft.
      Even his own previous team, the Patriots, who were well known to be excellent competitors, are suddenly incompetent when they played Tom.
      Let's just say that The Force is with Tom Brady. The Force of being a scripted winner.
