Just purchased my first beginners set, waiting for delivery 🤔got bored two months ago and got hooked on watching your Videos. Got hooked on the hobie and made a very very low grade single pick and tension bar.. So far 4 out of 5 locks I've acquired I've managed to pick. 3 had key's 🤷🏼♂️ unfortunately/fortunately the one I can't get YET😉 I lock the four locks back to and start the next Day. Thank you for my new hobie
I just got my first set of picks today and can't SPP the cheapest lock that I own. Up until now I've been using paperclips... Anyway, nice of you to post this video and show that no man is born with these skills.
Nice to see the progression. I’ve just purchased my first lock picking set (sparrow) and euro locks would be easier to practice on as I live in Norway and they would be cheaper to acquire.
@@bramburgers1417 I’m doing quite well. Opened a lot of locks since this comment😂 I had totally forgotten about this. Been a crazy year. How are you doing?
Did you buy the royale set? I wanna start lockpicking but i'm afraid that the normal profile sparrows kit is too thick for euro locks, as it's all i can acquire while living here. Thanks in advance for your response
I am glad I am not the only person struggling to open euro locks your picking mimics mine to a tee, Guess I must be over setting something. However on the upside I do get my locks for free.
Well i started watching you like a month ago while i was in a dark depresive state, and i wanted to get into this type of sport. Also helps that i work in a copy key center, and wanted to learn more about this and im really enthusiastic. 😂😂 Also bought the multipick ELITE LOCK NOOB 27 piece set 0.5 mm. Your videos are high quality and did help me to learn alot, so keep up the good work, and thank you for sharing the knowledge. Sorry if any mistakes where made, in this comment but i live in Romania, and english is not my native language.
6:18am I am almost ready to head off to work when my phone pings. My friend had been on an early bike ride and arriving home realised he had lost his front door key. His text asked if I had his spare key. Yes I said and headed to his which was only 6 mins away. On arrival I realised the key didn't fit, it was a key to an earlier euro lock which he had changed. Out came the jacknife and 15 seconds later the door was open. Thankfully a snake rake did the job easily as I didn't have time to try spp. He was amazed and couldn't believe after only 4 months of playing with locks I was able to open his door. Shhhhhh he thinks I am amazing, it would appear his front door lock ain't that good. I did say if he ever has difficulty with his piggy bank to give me a call. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 P.S. He now has several spare keys.
I live in Germany and I find it way harder to pick the European locks with the pins down like the are mounted. I find it easier to pick with the pins up like locks in the USA.
Great video mate couple questions 1 - does it matter which way you put pressure 2- are they like cars ? If springy leave them? 3- how do you know if your in 1,2,3 or 4 ?? Any advice please would be greatful 👍
I noticed the cam turned when you finally picked it. How would the cam turn with no key inside the core to engage the butterfly for that side ?? Ironically, I picked a Yale myself and was able to use my finger to push on the cam instead of using a tension tool...but I don't know how it could've worked, yet it did :)))
I live in the UK and the standard lock that is upside down like that and it's a pain in the ass but such a good way to learn how to pick and I've now been able to help friends and family get into their house with their euro-locks which in UK are always upside-down so pins are at the bottom
I once bought a ludicrously cheap Yale euro cylinder from B&Q. Apparently a shoplifter had ripped it out of it's packaging but got stopped before they left. As B&Q didn't know exactly what lock it was they just bagged up all the pieces and dumped this brand new name brand lock in the "reduced" section for £3 !!! (Couldn't pass THAT up could I). It was only after I got it home and started trying to pick it that it dawned on me that a shoplifter isn't going to be nicking something from the bottom of the range are they. This thing was feckin' impossible !!!! Its a 6 pin lock that had spools in ALL of them. It also has a bitch of a keyway with a couple of tiny ledges in the profile that are half way up the travel of the pins. My picks hang up on these constantly and made this a total impossible lock for me to pick. On top of all that, the bitting was evil. In the end I just chopped it into 2, Yanked the core from one, Then rebuilt it with plain pins all the way through. With that keyway it's enough of a challenge without the bloody spools in every position (And as a nice bonus, I now have a ...... [AHEM]...... "Matched pair" of locks to challenge one of my friends with at some point. LOL !).
Thanks for making these videos! Do all of these euro cylinders have overmilling or countermilling? The abus c83 is the only one I managed to get an open on becuase of the spool pins and the good feedback. That happened once and then never again 😂 I tried to open 8 cylinders including japanese ones and many of them have pins that get stuck. I tried to look into float picking to set those pins, which kind of helped pick those pins but I couldn't get an open.
Wouldn't it be way better to rotate it the correct way, so it is way easier to differentiate between set pins and overset pins? When it's like I'd guess that you can't quite tell if the key pins are loose or not.
Ok so I have a stupid question : I own locks like this one and once they're picked (or actually open with a key), I can just rotate the piece freely and it never seems to lock again, what do I have to do to lock them?
Yes, although the euro profile cylinder can be found in loads of different types of door and be any level of security - just look at some of the mul-T-locks
I am having trouble picking a similar lock that has a deep cut number 2 and 4 pin. I have just ordered some steeper picks to try and get over the number 4 so that I can set the 5 and 6 deep enough as I dont think I am. When I untension the lock I hear some pins click back down so I think they were set correctly but good lord its frustrating! I will get there though. Great vid.

Do you think that picking the lock up side down won’t help you when you have to pick a door lock that’s actually inside a door and in the correct way. So maybe get us to picking up wards

May I ask why you chose to tension anti-clockwise? I've always tensioned clockwise to good effect.
CHOPERUS23 honestly, I can’t remember, it just must have felt more comfortable at the time :-)
Tensioning it anti-clockwise actually closes the lock (door). I prefer to tension them as I would need to unlock them. Nice tricks, thank you!
@@sorin.n depends on which side of the door you are on.
In the real world, you’d need to be able to do it both ways, depending on which side the bolt is on.
For sport, it doesn’t matter on most locks.

Good day. What is the thickness of the tools you are using with such locks?
Probably 0.19 for euro locks. Get a nice set of rakes and you should be ok for basic locks.
Dan Williams 0.19 is a good place to start for euro cylinders, but he is using a Sparrows Standard Hook in 0.25 in the video shown.
