You’ve given me an uncontrollable urge to knit this for myself but without the pattern from hell lmao. It’s such a cute top!

Oh also I’ve had that same needle set for about 6ish years now and it’s still my main set! Definitely a worthwhile purchase imo

It looks so cute on you! I'd say your adventurousness has paid off. One way you might fix the fit on the back is by adding some elastic thread to help it stay up. You can also try using a crochet slip stitch to add more structure.

The top isn’t big for you, it’s bunching because the v-line should be lower, that’s why it was said to join the 2 straps. Either way you did a great job! Love it!!

thank you!! good point i think you’re right - but then i would sacrifice a lot of the bust coverage. oh well 😅

just wanted to say you are one of my favorite yters to watch now! i'm so glad i found your videos.
in regards to your point on the wrist pain, i ended up with the elbow version of carpal tunnel (cubital tunnel?), had tingling in my little and ring fingers which was caused when i bent my arm for too long knitting, and this happened to me after only 8 months of knitting, the final project i made was a mftk pattern which had 4x4 ribbing i think, and that ended up giving me the bad elbows.
i still get elbow pain now at night, if i sleep with my arms bent, and have spent time knitting, but took a good 6-9 months off knitting, and if i did knit i only did for about 20-30 minutes a day. i also have always suffered from neck pain, and shoulder pain which is made worse from knitting.
lately, i got back into knitting but taking it slow, i make sure my posture is good (shoulders down, elbows at my sides and not sticking out), and tend to keep myself to 1 knitting podcast or tv show episode of knitting, and then take a couple hours break. i keep an ice pack in the freezer ready to go for my elbow and shoulder and have been able to just about finish a project which ive had on hold for almost a year!!
i'm sure a doctor would tell me to give it up for good to avoid any more damage, but i do enjoy knitting as a hobby, and giving it up would be a lot for me. just make sure to take it easy, be mindful of your knitting posture and listen to your body when it tells you you've overworked it!!

also if you want to try other vintage knitting patterns, there's a bunch of free ones if you just google for them! i tried to crochet one once and it didn't go too well, same problems you had - vague, gauge is a suggestion, and sizing, but they certainly look nice and would be an interesting challenge 😁

thank you for taking the time to comment! i’m so sorry to hear about your elbow, that sucks and i hope it heals up 🫶 i totally agree with you - listening to your body so important and not something to be overlooked! congratulations on finally being able to finish your project 💗💫

A very similar, modern pattern that you could modify the straps to make a halter would be the ripple bralette by Jessie maed designs! 😉

I have this set - the cables are fairly standard and they work perfectly fine. I've had no issues with quality - especially for the price!😊(Personally, I prefer to use 360 swivel stainless steel cables. The Drops needles are fully compatible with Knit Pro cables!)

@@marieshark Thank you so much! I feel confident about purchasing it as my first set now, and I'll check out the swivel cable 😊

25:00 if you don’t mind answering, are you like a math tutor as your profession?
Also, if you are very sensitive to wool even super-wash, then maybe you should just go with acrylic and cotton
    Great video by the way!

      i am an analyst :)
you have a point lol, but i really like the properties of wool and i find ~some~ wool yarns not itchy so i took a gamble with this one! in future for this sort of top i think i would go for a cotton and wool blend 🥰

would the straps be long enough to sew them to the back? so it would be a straight strap situation, boobs wouldn't fall out but it would hold the back up. just a thought.

    • @natashacrawf
      @natashacrawf  11 дней назад

ooh interesting idea, I hadn’t considered that! i will try and pin it and see if that is possible/looks good 🫶
