Sorry guys, but this is actually a very rare recording of Nightwish with Samppa Hirvonen and Marianna Pellinen. In the early days, Hirvonen was the concert bass player and was to become the permanent bassist, but was conscripted to the army. He also would have been the new male vocalist. Pellinen was the backing vocalist. Sami Vanska joined the band at the start of Oceanborn recording to replace Hirvonen.
Bassist is Samppa Hirvonen (now at Division XIX). Marianna Pellinen singing backing vocals (that isn't playback like today :P). Sami wasn't there until 1998
Sami Vänska joined Nightwish not before 1998. He was succeeding Samppa Hirvonen, who joined Nightwish along with Jukka Nevalainen 1997, as they grew to a full band, ready for their first tour through the Finnish music clubs. Samppa deeply regretted afterwards that he had already signed up with the military back then, so couldn't continue with them in 1998. Uncertain how Nightwish would have developed, as Samppa proved his vocal prowess in his later band. So, advantage Marko Hietala.
