Hannah, I'm Australian and loved the video's. I tell people we are lucky to be able to tour our great country, but unfortunately so many aussies never see our great land but instead would rather visit other countries (which is not a bad thing). We were one of these people and when overseas I was embarrassed to say people would ask me questions about Australia and I didn't know the answers. So when we got back to Oz I was determined to see as much of our country as we could. We are now retired, have a 4WD and have the time to tour and am in awe of the beauty of our great land. Anyway keep living the dream and touring, you won't regret it.

Hi Hannah (my Granddaughters name!) I've enjoyed watching your really informative videos. I will be travelling to OZ (for the 4th time!) next December, & for the first time will be leaving the comfort of a Home Exchange to obtaining a car or camper in order to travel from Brisbane to Perth (allowing myself 26 days!) It seems purchasing a vehicle could be quite a hassle, so I shall probably rent instead! Thanks for all your tips! Continue having great Adventures - I'm 76 years old (young!) & still having them!

Thank you for this video! this is very helpful to me especially on the procedures etc etc and cost! yes the main concern to me is the approximate cost, because if you are a backpacker your budget is kinda limited. I went to Perth last two week as a tourist but will come back again on a working holiday in few months time. Keep the videos coming +sub! :)

No problem Tom! Glad you found it helpful :) It's awesome you went to Perth as a tourist and want to return to Oz to do a WHV. Thanks for subscribing and joining the family!

reliability, serviceability , & vehicle Maintenance network support is key, like the Toyota brand used by most mining companies & government. as buying a vehicle in Australia. without this, as a breakdown 200km outside a major Australian city can be disastrous. without spare parts & needed maintenance network support.

HI i have been searching for specific info about buying a car in Australia but I cannot find what i need. I'm actually in the US and i want to buy a car from someone in Australia then have it shipped to the USA. I need to know if Australian car owners show ownership of a car with a car title or certificate of ownership or any legal document for that matter. Here in the USA, in my state, i would need to show a legal government document that shows the seller owned the vehicle. My seller presently has just an expired registration certificate which i don't believe would suffice. Could you help me on this topic

      HI Romel
I Live In the capital city Canberra. In my state the only thing that is required is a written receipt from the seller that he has sold you the car and that you have paid for it. It can be hand written on a blank piece of paper. The receipt must have car body number and engine number and they must match the car. The system is now computerised so that if the car or engine have been stolen that would come up when registering. This is usually used when car is old and has no papers or is not registered.
If there is a certificate of registration current or expired on the back of it is a form which you can use to fill in when selling or buying. You just put in the name of the buyer and seller and the details of the car are on he paper. There is a small section which seller tears off and sends to the authorities to tell them the car is sold and to whom so that parking tickets go to the right address if the car is registered. If it is not registered then the authorities do not need to be notified.
There is no separate title of ownership in any state of Australia apart from the registration paper. That is the title. It has a VIN no and engine no and this identifies the car. But as i said here it is not really required when buying an unregistered car anyway. I buy and sell cars (flipping) and often sell old cars without registering in my name. Some Have no papers at all (barn finds) and that is not a problem as long as you have a record of who sold it to you so that police can chase them should the need arise. I just take a shot of their drivers licence with my phone and get a receit. Sometimes I dont see them, they email it to me. Thats as far as old cars are concerned. It is a little different with more valuable cars on which somebody may own money to the bank or financed company.
Tell me which state you are buying from.
On a philosophical level it amuses me that in the land of the free, capitalist society respecting private property, you need a piece of paper to prove that a car is yours. Here, it is assumed to be yours if you say so and will be until authorities prove otherwise.
Anyway, I guess for your purposes what will be more important is a piece of paper that comes with the car when importing the car to the US
My guess is that you are probably wanting to buy an old Toyota 4WD which are now hot in the US. If you want more info give your Email and we can talk.

Hi Romel, I'm really sorry but I can't help with this specific query. Vihor's answer is the best you are likely to find unless you try to contact the vehicle licensing agency in the specific state of Oz where you want to buy the vehicle from. Sorry I can't be of more help

      Gday
Why the FUCK would you want to buy a car from Australia when you live in USA
EVERYTHING in AU is bloody expensive
AU has the HIGHEST cost of living in the western sphere
If you want to import cars into USA . I would look into EU or JAPAN instead or just check for ULTRA CHEAP offerings in USA

I’ve just arrived in Melbourne for the first time ever and my friend and I are planning on taking a road trip from Melbourne to Cairns. At the very least we want to spend 6weeks travelling the east coast but potentially might stay longer to work here and there so we’re going with the idea of buying a van rather than renting. Just wondering if you have any tips or advice? What rego to go with, should we only buy a van with RWC, what van models are good etc? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, the video is definitely helpful and I have been searching the car in de web called carsales, and I am going to buy a brand new Mustang. I found some cars they don't have the license plates yet, so if you want to get a special plate, like "unicorn"( for example), how much do you think it will cost, cuz none of my friends did that before , so I am bit confused about that cost.

    Very helpful video!!
Looking to travel to Australia on a working holiday visa from Ireland in the next few months, planning to leave in early 2019. I am flexible as to where to start my journey and wish to drive/travel to through as much of it as i can.
I don't really have a big budget though, would it be possible with 4000 euros/6500 aus dollars to purchase a "van life" worthy vehicle (either ute/small van/ converted people wagon) to live in for 1 or possibly 2 years? However this would literally be half my budget gone straight away!!
Also if you're traveling through different states/territories do you need to pay fees or get paperwork filled out for the vehicle etc?
    Thanks
