It’s definitaly not a first time dog! Yes, it can be trained bery good, but it takes 50 times more patience and time than most other dogs like papillon og golden
I live in an area where 2 of neighbours are very old persons (94 years old) and sometimes they fall in their garden. Every times, my 3 years old shiba alerted us and all the neighbourhood that they were in troubles because it's not usual for him to bark. And my very old neighbours know they can count on him and they called him for his help. He never failed them.
@@vivvy_0 They know their people but they are very aware about their environnement. They feel when something is going wrong. In the case of my dog, he knows all my neighbours, they always been nice with him, so he likes them. He sees them at least once a week. I don"t think he considers them as a part of the very core of the pack but he is definitly protective with them.
Once I had a hilarious encounter with a Shiba Inu at a park. She was super confident and definitely not a people pleaser! The owners, however, informed me that I could pet her. She stayed put through petting without showing much care, but flatly refused to leave me when the owners tried to move her away and simply stayed in. They told me laughing that she likes me! Well! Who knew? ;D
Honestly think this is the PERFECT breed for an individual or family who are independent in nature. My little Shiba plays right into my lifestyle since he naturally will mind his own business. When he wants attention he'll nudge me with his nose. Other than that he may just sit next to a window or lay down next to my office chair.
Some things i learned with my shiba... Intensive play first or second walk of the day helps mitigate his wildness. Make sure to do your training research. Hes incredibly food motivated and has screamed at me if i eat in front of him. Hes an older boy now and basically wants to play hard once a week, wants to sleep around on the pillows, wants to give side eye and attack the mirror.
It took a while, but we trained our shiba to leave us alone while eating, by setting aside the last bite of protein for him, "go lay down, you'll get some when we are done."
I miss my boy. He passed a few months ago at only 6 years old. I miss him so so much. He was stubborn as hell and so mischievous. He was sick all the time so he was really bonded to me. He would always lay with me and sometimes he would come over to me while I was laying down and want me to pet him, his eyes would get big and dilate-he would look at me with indescribable love. When the toxins from his liver went to his brain he lost control of his legs and couldn’t get up and wouldn’t even attempt to move for anyone. I rushed home from work and when he heard and saw me he tried to get up but fell over. It was so sad. Putting him down was the hardest thing I ever had to do. Everyday my heart of broken.
I love all your videos! I started watching last year because I wanted to get a shiba but was very nervous as it was my first dog. A year later I am so thankful for your videos! My dog is so well behaved (even though he likes to cause trouble some times). I couldn't have asked for a better dog!
Watching this makes me feel so lucky to have my little Mitsuki with me. She is definitely all these traits, and I truly love her for who she is. She wild and quirky and independent and smart, Shibas are the perfect dog for those who embrace their uniqueness!
We have a shiba, he's now almost 2 years old, and only recently have we started to see him basically fully accepting my husband and me and accepting the fact that he has to listen to us. He still does sometimes what he wants, or acts like he suddenly just went deaf and can't hear you xD he's a joker for sure, but I could not imagine having any other dog, then again we have no children as of yet and I have not been working since Covid started, which convinces me that there is no possible way for people to have any dog and work, especially when they are puppies and need to go out every three hours. These are just my experiences though, just wanted to share gor anyone interested in getting one themselves
@@adidas4785 Terrible. No one warned me enough about their stubborness. When our puppy is chewing something that he's not supposed to (that can even be dangerous to him; ex: almost swallowing a small piece of wood) it becomes literally impossible to stop him from doing so. If you scold him, he'll get REALLY mad at you and is going to start running and/or chewing faster and harder. If you try to distract him, he won't let go and will ignore your attempt to redirect his attention. If you try to take it away, he'll bite you and start chasing tirelessly whatever you took away from him. And he won't forget it, even if you place him far away, he'll eventually come back to that same spot to try and continue doing what was irritating you. They do have a strong personality, that thus far seems almost impossible to tame, especially in our case (our puppy is hyperactive).
@@milenaavila1603 I hope it gets better. I would love an update in the future as I am a few weeks away from owning mine. I am extremely nervous but ever since i was a teenager i have admired them and dreamed of having one.
@@milenaavila1603 how old is yours? Ours was very much like that in the beginning xD he's almost 2 now, he has calmed down quite a bit, BUT we have been extremely strict. I am a stay at home mom and can watch him most the time, which I have non stop almost and always intervened immediately whenever he has shown behavior that I do not want him repeating by yelling out no, and having him do something else, like command him to sit, so I can tell him he's a good boy for listening to that command instead, for example. But still, to this day, he does go for a bite, he has to always stay on a leash outside, or he will run off and you will find him only if he's microchipped and you have to pray he didn't get hit by a car, but it does get waaaay better in time xD
Jimmy looks just like my Nikko who is now almost 15! My husband and I have raised 4 Shiba Inus through the years, some from babies, some adopted. All have been a Great Joy!🐶🐶🐶🐶
My aunt's Bichon Frise has a similar personality to what you describe. It took a long time for us to get used to eachother but we finally came to an understanding and there is a bond between us now. I believe i can achieve this with a shiba. I am meeting my puppy next week and i am extremely nervous about the challanges ahead. Your videos have played a big part in educating me about owning a shiba and I am sure i will look to them in the future. Thank you.
Great video! Shibas are the greatest!! The barking part is so true, if your shiba is barking there is a problem, threat, or something that they don't think is normal.
I would agree with this with one exception. Our male Shiba started barking about the same time every night, around 7pm. It took me awhile to figure out what was going on as each time I tried to sneak out he would hear me and come check to see what I was doing. Eventually, I finally was out front when he started barking out back in the fenced yard. I was able to sneak around to see what was going on. At first I was confused as I could see nothing that might be triggering him to bark. Then I noticed he would bark, then pause and listen and then bark again. That's when it hit me. There were four other dogs in the neighborhood. One would bark and then another would answer! It looked just like a group of people having a conversation, only it was at a distance! The properties where we live are all around 1-2 acres so there is some space between the houses. Since that time, we have learned to expect the "evening social hour". It doesn't bother any of the neighbors as most of them just laugh at it when they stop and listen. If it isn't the social hour, then we do pay very strict attention when he starts barking because, as it has been said, there is always a reason!
We have Newfoundlands (2) & Shibas (one senior and a new puppy). Shibas are wonderful companions, definitely run the house. they're very smart and that's appreciated here. They're easy to train if they can be shown why it's a good idea for them. Or, make them think what you want them to do is the best idea they ever had. Training is very necessary. Unfortunately, they can't be left off leash. One rabbit, deer or squirrel and off they go. They love to run and run faster than they can learn the way they went. Making it easy for them to get lost. They're excellent watch dogs, noticing anything or anyone out of place. They scream and that sets off the Big Dogs. Best home alarm system ever. We
I have a Shiba Inu i adopted via a friend who didn't have time for her. She took to me within days and now won't leave my side. I was surprised that she took ownership of me rather than the other way around. Very much like living with a highly stubborn agile calm 2-3 year old.
My Natsu has certainly all of these traits. He is stubborn and he is sometimes whiny, when he wants attention, but I love him. He is 8 months old and we still need some basic commands, because he just thinks he doesn't have to listen anymore :D. Recall is one of them, everything outside is more interesting than me. However, he is a wonderful dog and makes me laugh every day. Even when he steals a sock and you can see on his face that he is looking for a good hiding spot xD. It is hard sometimes, but worth :) Thank you for these videos, so I know I'm not alone.
@@jenniferking2243 Not at all, they are very expressive. I can see when he is happy, sad, mad at me or has no clue what's going on. Even when he disapproves 😄 And of course ...the staaaaaares
It's not an easy dog breed but I think I'm ok at being a shiba parent. She is my first dog, but 5th pet after having 4 cats during my lifetime. She isn't very obedient, but she is doing pretty well for an almost 4 months old puppy. When outside, Ruby is very distracted by everything. There's good days and bad ones but I stay consistent. She likes chicken a lot so I take that when on walks and it often (but not always) motivates her. On bad days nothing makes her listen but I need to keep doing what I've been doing. Sometimes she can be frustrating but it's important to keep calm. On normal and good days, she is a pleasure to have. I'm used to cats so having a mind of her own and not being a people pleaser is familiar. She is loving and cuddly though. She definitely is quirky and makes me laugh. She learns quickly but might not listen. ;) I'm not the most patient person but she's teaching me to keep going and to be calm even in frustrating situations. I wouldn't recommend this breed to everyone, you need to research them. It doesn't matter if someone is a first time or experienced dog owner, they have specific traits that need to be researched.
Oh and be prepared for a lot of nipping and biting when young. You just need to be firm and try out the tricks and tips on this channel. We're dealing with the start of teething so it's sometimes a pain (literally) to deal with her. She does understand no, ignoring her and timeout though. The strategies work. Also if the puppy is too excited and nippy, it may be they are tired and don't know it. Like a small child, you need to put them to bed so they sleep. They stop being grumpy afterwards. 😸
Thanks for sharing and really keen observation, 4 months is a very naughty stage and also lots of teething and biting like you mentioned. Your observation about when puppy being nippy and too excited could be he is tired is very true. I remember when Jimmy used to went to Petco for free puppy play time the trainer their mentioned we need to give puppy breaks during those play so they don't get grump and bity. Enjoy the journey. 👍
Shiba inu are my favorite creature. All of them are different and that is what make this breed unique. 😁😁😁 If you Shiba is stubborn, be patient. Because hard work pays off. Shiba inu is very loyal, that is once it accepts you as its pack leader. Make sure to build a bond with your dog, and give attention and love to your dog this is the most important thing. Sidenote: This video is very very wholesome, it has probably become my favorite.😃 Love Your Channel. Dan
Agree Dan, this channel focuses on useful and practical Shiba info instead of using Shiba for entertainment and gain only. It is helping people understand this dog. It's important because they are a "primitive breed" so need special care in providing for their REAL NEEDS - not just a cute looking meme machine which is often imo NEGLECTFUL of the dog and it's good life. Personally if I had a Shiba I'd work with them on their hunting skills. It does make the dog much harder to control once they are on "hunt" but the quality of life is worth it imho if you live in an area with enough wildness. For Shibas they'd need GPS so you can recollect them and locate them, though. I leave my sock around my dog at night time, she likes to hoard toys and valuable items! But the sock has the scent and the "decay of scent over time" tells the dog the right time (as well as routine) when they next see you in the morning!
@@kkshebs In a sense humans become the "parents" of the dog and as such somewhat akin to pack leaders (original breeding adults) but equally dogs categorize humans differently to dogs as different interaction types in the social structure. But not in the sense of "bullying their force of will": That is wrong though many people end up doing that to their "beloved dog" unfortunately...
A tale of Mari and the threee puppies,my favorite doggo movie. The movie was moved me so much,Mari's motherfood and loyality are just like shiba inu. I watched mari in japanese tv show, she was so smart and beautiful.
#9, Shiba’s will fight when they are afraid. I can’t say this enough, but even if there is no reason for resource guarding, it is still possible. It falls into the stubborn and protective trait as well. You may not know why they are doing it, but please get a trainer involved before it gets bad. My little girl decided to resource guard high reward things because the cats kind of taught her that with their food. In one month with the advice from the trainer, it’s almost nonexistent. No more nipping, she just uses body language to let us know. They are so so so smart.
@@jenniferking2243 Yes! But it's not impossible. I got a Shiba because I wanted a dog with a personality and a spirit. Not saying other dogs don't though! My family has always had herding or hunting breeds, and they almost always listen regardless, because they just want to please their owners. Shibas can be like that but in their own way. The training is challenging, but it is so rewarding. She was my first dog personally, so I don't suggest it to first-time dog owners.
@@Nomarcaper Yeah for sure. That's a great point! I saw on one of the videos here that Shibas are bred for hunting. That's a head scratcher as mine doesn't listen to me much whenever off leash lol

Hi trtlphnx, thanks for the support! Do keep in mind that it will be hard work if you are getting one but all the time you spend with him will be worth it in the long term. I look forward for you sharing your experience back here with us about owning a Shiba Inu. Good luck!
Thank you for this terrific and informative video! You put into words several behaviors that I see, and now understand WHY. Our 2 year old pup has been manipulating us since we brought him home at 3 months. A new training regime is needed, for sure.
I have a three year old male Sheba. I love him dearly but when he gets overstimulated he is very aggressive towards our other dog and sometimes anyone that’s in his way I guess unpredictable is the way I would describe him at times
Hahaha. So funny. I am grinning as I watch your video. Love your humor We definitely didn't know the trouble we were getting into. Our Shiba, Kenji, is definitely a rascal
I loved your video. It was so true in every way. I was the proud owner of a (Judah The Lion King) Shiba Inu. He brought us so much laughter, joy and happiness for 16 years. Sadly he passed away 2 years ago but I miss his presence every day. Thank you so much for sharing and reminding me of the BEST BREED EVER🥰!
The shedding is no joke. People think I must deal with a lot of fur due to my longhair cat, but in reality my boyfriend's Shiba (that is only here maybe 2 days a week) contributes most of the fur buildup in my house 😭😅
Best dogs EVER. Anyone who doesn't like them or can't handle them is lame. They are willful and lazy, but you can work around that if you are clever. I call them "cat-dogs" and often talk about their "cat-like" behavior. Work around his habits and allow him to have certain quirks - like nap times, etc. The drawbacks are tiny compared to how fun and loving they are.
I don’t think I could watch that kind of movie without tears either. Yea, I have to make orders seem like they’re his idea. I can call him back into the house but when he outright ignores me, for him, usually means he has to do a couple more things outside. He enjoys going after that squiggle ball too. I like when he does his howl after waking me up. He’ll pick up the bone and sometimes howl with it in his mouth. Funny. Sometimes sounds like a (muffled?) tuba sound.
The belief that the shiba inu isn’t good for first time owners is rubbish if your dog is stubborn you have to find some way to get them engaged In what you want them to do Great video
What you say is fundamentally correct, but atst I would add that Shiba Inus are much more of a "niche" dog breed than is probably appreciated: They are domesticated but equally they retain more wild instincts intact... thus are less suitable to more people according to what more people seem to want from a dog eg "a fluffy portable teddy that seeks to please it's owners". Shibas are more like pack-mates on an more individual footing/role with their owners as part of a pack relationship. And they are a breed that probably should be encouraged to go "hunting" with their humans too (imho). Though that would be a significant investment of the human to do that activity regularly with their dog or else a person with the right context who lives in the wilds more where it would be a daily simple trek.
They really arent good for first time owners. If your not knowledgable about dog training it will be hell. But of course u can always take the time to learn! Definitely before getting one though. Also, stereotypically they arent cuddly and will typically sleep away from you. So a lot of “dog people” tend to not like that. They are like more energetic cats lol
@@XxEmmJayxX Agree, this is important advice: Too many people judge on cutey-looks (skin deep) instead of the actual behaviour/physiology and even psychology of the dog breed. I'd also add "Right Context": Shibas are hunting dogs and their instinct should be activated with the human in the 100% optimal context. Small Game Hunters.
My shiba inu puts his face down and butt in the air and jumps on his hind legs to celebrate a good day at bed time… he runs up and down changing directions so fast to celebrate having a good walk… me and my shiba inu have a cosmic connection… they sent him here to teach me about when we will all be together in the other place
Thank you for the video I will be getting my shiba next year and this is helpful, as for being corky I guess he will fit right on in with his new family 🤣.
Thank you for your videos they have been so helpful. I begin watching them before we got our dog. We picked up our Shiba yesterday.. I really love him already
I have a sheba enu but she is a special case she is a rescue I was given when working at the humane shelter.. she is so scared of everything including her own shadow at times.. she is totally different with me though such a funny, quirky, wierd, loving ball of fur.. wouldn't give her up for the world...
I love Jimmy’s smile when he rolls over!!! My tri-color plays the same game, except she plays dead. She will hold this position as long as it takes for someone to pay attention to her. Jimmy’s traits are so much like that of our Sesame male “Rolo” that we lost almost 2 years ago to a rare bone cancer. Roo could actually get the top off any bottle. It was bad if he got ahold of a perscription bottle. He could get the top off that too. His little 30 pounds took me down and licked me like he was giving me a bath. Shibas are such a special kind of love.
He gets a reward for going out to do his biz so now he often pretends to need to go. 😂 Prince' has the same giggle ball! He loves to play catch with us.
Someone help us please. We got a shiba puppy 2 weeks ago and our life became a living endless nightmare since then.He chews and eats things that he is not supposed to (And it's literally impossible to redirect his attention, scold him or take whatever he's chewing away from him - he'll run away, bite you, destroy things faster just to irritate you and hunt down what you took away). He barks and screams REALLY loud and tirelessly whenever he is not alowed to do something that he wants, and sometimes we're just trying to protect him from himself (ex: swallowing pieces of his bed / trying to throw himself from our balcony). He gets really aggitated and starts running in circles like crazy for hours, bumping on everything and destroying everthing that's within his reach. We're almost being kicked out of our apartment, we're receiving several notifications from our neighboors because of his bad and uncontrollable behaviour. I was aware of their unique traits and this is not my first dog either. I just thought that it was manageable! This is my first time dealing with an almost 100% wild creature that doesn't want to be a pet. I would be really grateful if someone could shed a light on what to do, we just want him to be happy but he is too wild and aggressive.
It kind of sounds like your puppy might also just have way too much energy. Maybe try upping the time you spend exercising it and playing with it. Maybe add another walk or two short ones. It really helps
Mine destroyed all i own unless i played with him during long walks. If i miss a playtime at the park he will scream at me by the door. By the time he was 1 though he acted like a baby and liked to cuddle
I love my Shiba to death. Elliot is almost 5 now. They are very intelligent, loyal, & stubborn. I recently got a Pointer puppy and my Elliot has now started buddying up to my daughter as I am working with the pup. Elliot is disgusted with me right now, but he is good with the pup. Hope he forgives me soon. Shibas are the easiest dog on the planet to housde break. They have the best personality, this video is very accurate.

I also have carpet upstairs. Did Jimmy ever dig at the corners of base boards and or rip out the carpet fibers? Mine turned 1 yesterday, and he is still doing it.
Hi Jane, Jimmy used to LOVE digging carpet but not anymore(he is almost 3 now). In our old apartment our carpet had some bald spots that was destroyed by him … We used to need to monitor him almost all the time. You need to immediately stop him if he bites carpet. Use the discipline technique by verbally tell him no or if he is really bad give him timeout whenever he bites carpet. Good luck!
For what it's worth, my 2 year old digs much less often now than a year ago. He would dig at the carpet, the couch or his crate pad. It seems that he would do this mostly in the evenings, before bedtime. We thought he might be expending excess energy, tiring himself out to sleep fitfully.
They are quite mouthy and will chew many things, especially shoes, wallets, and woodedges of low tables. They have a large set of teeth and love to chew on things, at least my shiba does. Also, he loves to steal thing and play a chasing game. I can see the wheels turning in his mind at night, looking for things to pull off of counter just to getme to chase him. Nothing is off limits. If you have very nice wooden furniture, shiba might be a problem. I cannot say all shiba do this, but my hunch is many do.
My Shiba Inu spoons my fiancé every night and then sleeps between us under the covers with his head on our pillows or neck. He constantly wants attention.
I would recommend getting a play pen they can stay in. They chew on things and will chew up your carpet as puppies. Also i wouldn’t recommend it if u cant let them out every few hours since puppies bladders are smaller
I crated my Shiba at first but then was able to transition to leaving him out in the house while I was gone. When I first started I would make sure to have everything he could chew up and out of his reach, and I definitely came home to a few messes over the years, but he is 4 now and I can totally trust him alone at home during the day…it’s the middle of the night while I’m trying to sleep I have to worry about…he has an affinity for dirty laundry.

I was crying while watching this video. Today my partner decided to sell our Shiba Inu puppy because of his mischievous behaviour. We have two puppies at home and my partner really loves the other one. It is too hard for us to raise two puppies together. Our Shiba came to us when he was 7 weeks old and now he's 5-month old. He used to bite things and humans but now he no longer bites. We do not know how to stop him from whining for no reason during the mid of the night. Now we had to send him away. I really love this puppy but I am not a good parent. So sorry and so sad.
My doggo is a pure screamer in the car! Everyone knows when he is arriving at park. He has a problem with his eyes running. I wash them but he has it everyday. Could this be from his head out window of car? I will not let him hang out the car window if we are going over 40mph. Any hints as to what could be?
If his eyes are running everyday it could be environmental allergy. Sometimes it also accompanied with ear infection or ichy skin. If it is consistent or become worse you should check with your vet for correct diagnose.
It’s not cheap raising a dog. But think about most dogs the only nutrient source is the food you give them. Keep that in mind when selecting his food and in exchange you get a healthier dog in the long term 👍🏻
Hi, I work as a teacher, 7th to 9th grade in Switzerland. It is a part-time job. I’m allowed to take my dog into class. Do you think a shiba inu would be possible as a futre dog ? Thanks for replying, I love your videos!!!
Hi if you take your new puppy to the classroom with you starting at young age he will learn how to interact with kids. However, I 'd caution you should always place him in a confined area if you are not with him. Sometimes kid don't know how to interact with dogs so you should always keep an eye on him when your dog interact with kids. This is the same concept that you should never leave your infant and the dog in the same place without supervision. Good luck!

I have a 7 yr old shiba, your video is hilariously accurate!
Even when I did all the research I wasn't prepared for the sheer attitude of this dog
What was it like?
These dogs are also good motivated, but can get fat quickly if you feed them too many treats, but you bribe them into good behavior
4 Shibas 😲 That takes a lot of dedication and patience 👍🏻
We
Thank you so much for these Shiba videos!
Hi, thanks for sharing. Sounds like Natsu is definitely a pure Shiba Inu breed, not easy for sure but worth it :)
Is it difficult to read Shiba Inu facial cues?
@@jenniferking2243 Not at all, they are very expressive. I can see when he is happy, sad, mad at me or has no clue what's going on. Even when he disapproves 😄 And of course ...the staaaaaares
@@mariannafrank7640 lol that's so cute!! It's amazing how much facial expressions they can make to bond with hoooooman.
Congratulations on having a succesful video, this one has more views that usual
Quiet in comparison to other dogs, yes but also Shiba scream.
She learns quickly but might not listen. ;)
I'm not the most patient person but she's teaching me to keep going and to be calm even in frustrating situations.
This is one of my favourite channel, I like Shiba Inu very much, your advice and teaching are so important, thanks for sharing.
Another great educational vlog !
Shiba inu are my favorite creature.
All of them are different and that is what make this breed unique.
😁😁😁
If you Shiba is stubborn, be patient. Because hard work pays off.
Shiba inu is very loyal, that is once it accepts you as its pack leader.
Make sure to build a bond with your dog, and give attention and love to your dog this is the most important thing.
Sidenote: This video is very very wholesome, it has probably become my favorite.😃
Love Your Channel.

I don’t agree with the pack leader stuff but you are speaking fax

They are so so so smart.
do you find Shiba's intelligence challenging to train?

Thank you for this terrific and informative video! You put into words several behaviors that I see, and now understand WHY. Our 2 year old pup has been manipulating us since we brought him home at 3 months. A new training regime is needed, for sure.
Thank you. Training is a life long journey 👍
Best Shiba Inu channel on youtube!
I have a three year old male Sheba. I love him dearly but when he gets overstimulated he is very aggressive towards our other dog and sometimes anyone that’s in his way I guess unpredictable is the way I would describe him at times
Neutered?
I would suggest more intensive play or excercise first walk of the day
Hahaha.
3:19 wiping away his eye-boogies, I do that daily with my shiba.
The belief that the shiba inu isn’t good for first time owners is rubbish if your dog is stubborn you have to find some way to get them engaged In what you want them to do
Great video
@@commentarytalk1446 what are you talking about like I’m trying to wrap my head around your comment
how do you usually train your shiba?

I love the breed but I am not ready for a new dog just yet. I love your videos and look forward to learning about the breed.
Thanks and welcome to the channel 👍
He gets a reward for going out to do his biz so now he often pretends to need to go. 😂 Prince' has the same giggle ball! He loves to play catch with us.
Yes, my shiba inu likes to trick my other dog to give things up so she can have it.
I would be really grateful if someone could shed a light on what to do, we just want him to be happy but he is too wild and aggressive.
this is literally every puppy in existence.. what were you expecting
It kind of sounds like your puppy might also just have way too much energy. Maybe try upping the time you spend exercising it and playing with it. Maybe add another walk or two short ones. It really helps
The shedding is the breaking point for me. There's hair all over this person's house. It would drive me insane 😩.
Very cute
thanx for your videos, we watch them together with our new shiba-puppy and learn so much
Mine destroyed all i own unless i played with him during long walks. If i miss a playtime at the park he will scream at me by the door. By the time he was 1 though he acted like a baby and liked to cuddle

Good luck!
@@SuperShiba Thank you for replying. I'm doing my best :-)
how's your 1 year old shiba's energy level? is it still very high?
@@jenniferking2243 1-10...I say 7. I had him neutered almost 2 months ago. Not sure if that makes a difference. He loves to play fetch.
For what it's worth, my 2 year old digs much less often now than a year ago. He would dig at the carpet, the couch or his crate pad. It seems that he would do this mostly in the evenings, before bedtime. We thought he might be expending excess energy, tiring himself out to sleep fitfully.
Nice haha i also make shorts about my shiba inu 😆
They are quite mouthy and will chew many things, especially shoes, wallets, and woodedges of low tables. They have a large set of teeth and love to chew on things, at least my shiba does. Also, he loves to steal thing and play a chasing game. I can see the wheels turning in his mind at night, looking for things to pull off of counter just to getme to chase him. Nothing is off limits. If you have very nice wooden furniture, shiba might be a problem. I cannot say all shiba do this, but my hunch is many do.
i love them
Does Jimmie do the famous ballet kick? Not sure why they do this, but it is funny.
my shiba does, and it is indeed funny, he's a high stepper too
my dog also loves winter sun
How can avoid the crying when is a puppy ay night?
My Shiba Inu spoons my fiancé every night and then sleeps between us under the covers with his head on our pillows or neck. He constantly wants attention.
Im really close to getting a Shiba within the next few weeks. Can they be left alone during the workday?

Good luck!
