Grandma's are a treasure, I miss mine too 💓 Missing them means they were awesome ladies! 😍🎨💓 I hope the stash can still be used, and if not, you can always save it as a beautiful loving memento. Thank you so much for your beautiful comment!
I found this video in a Google search. I had brought out my acrylics yesterday & they were globby. Thank you for sharing this information! Now I don't have to replace all of the paints!
I got good results from using a little matte medium (Liquitex). I let it set after a little shake and then worked on stirring and shaking it. It came out good. Thank you!
I bought it at Michael's years ago but have never seen them again! here are some similar: a carrousel amzn.to/3Dw09Wt and this one in sections that you can add on later more parts amzn.to/3BMveUu - I hope that helps!
I have a tip I received from Golden Brand paints for reviving acrylic paint . You can add water as well as a few drops of household ammonia . Acrylic contains ammonia so it’s safe to add it to revive thick or dried out acrylic .
How about for the acrylic that has been plasticized? I am not a painter but I received a DIY acrylic painting (color according to number) for my birthday gift and some of these colors have dried up 😢 and I cannot finish the DIY painting
Sorry but those are beyond help. Acrylic paint is supposed to harden like that to last, so, they dried and did their thing. Once the paint goes to a solid state, it's hardly if ever possible to make them workable again. What you can do is try to find similar colors to complete your project. Look in different craft stores if possible, to get as close as you can. It can be a fun thing, just shopping and looking for colors. I wish I could give you a better answer!
So I was doing a paint by number and forgot about it for few months and the paints are completely dried out. They are like plastic or dough. Is there a way to still do my paint by number?
If the paint still leaves a stain when touching it, you have a chance. If the paint feels like plastic, and is not soft or at least a little moist... you need new paints, sorry.😕
Here an idea I do all of time if my acrylic paints almost turn poopy. I add two to four drops of water and work it for a bit then I put the bottle in coffee cup on top of coffee mug warmer (I like to drink tea when I paint I'm Irish) let it sit for a few minutes and shake the bottle. But one thing what bottle name "medium" called
Thank you for the tip: I have some flag gold pendants in which the stripes (red, green, white, and red) have worn out and piled off, do have any idea where can get it?
I had a pot with a lump of blue rotten acrylic paint. I poured the stinky water out, scrapped the globby bulk in a blender, added some acryl binder, a bit retarder, a few drops of ammonia, and a little bit of acrylic medium in it, shook it for a couple of minutes in that blender and voila...the 30-year-old paint was like new.
Hi! It is not, glycerin is a solution like oil used for soap or many other good things, but acrylic paint can be actually be messed up by oil related solutions. Mediums are polymer based, and in fact some are the base where the pigments are added to make the acrylic paint. Will a bit of glycerin ruin your paint? Probably not but I do not recommend it. Thanks for visiting!
Thank u so much for this video. I had some paint and because they were there for so long it got thick and I threw them in the garage. When I saw this video I went back in the garbage for them😂
Hi, that was purchased at my local Michael's years ago, sadly it doesn't have a name on it to give you more info, and I have not seen them again, but here's a link for another non rotating organizer amzn.to/3tjzvKi
If it is rinsed immediately while wet, it doesn't dry on it. However, I'm not sure what silver paint you mean? The metal is actually metal, unpainted, but same thing, get it wet to rinse and the acrylic paint will dissolve. Thanks for visiting!
well I guess it depends where the person lives, I suppose? But mostly, tap water can mold inside a closed paint bottle, so, it is recommended to either boil some, wait to cool and add, or get from a water jug. Unless the full paint will be used soon. Same for Gesso, unfortunately
@iLove2Paint . Ayala Art Games Workshop is a tabletop miniature gaming company. Most notable for Warhammer and Warhammer 40k. They sell literal armies of miniatures that the player builds and paints themselves. I actually found this video because I took my armies out of long-term storage and all my paints are DRY.
This is like the most basic and NO KIDDING video on this topic. If you cant figure this out on your own, you should have your parent fire the baby sitter you have. Geez, this has got to be an example of how thoughtless people maybe. LOL. Now if you show how to revive REAL DRIED acryic, that would be something worth watching.
@@ilove2paint Come Ayala, you have much better videos than this. No one expects you to make every single one a hit. I thought I would be honest for you and give some of those in your audience a wake up call :-)
@@ilove2paint Well this video was perfect for me. Just in time to find out my paints are in bad shape so thanks for the tips. All video aren't for everyone but certainly it helped me and others.
found my grandmother's old paint stash. she was an art teacher in before she retired. i miss her so much.

That is exactly why I am watching the video
My Mom got early Alzheimer’s and was a painter so now I am playing with all her supplies. Now I can save some of her expensive paints!
Sorry if you watched the past previous version upload! I had to delete it because there was something wrong with the settings, it looked bad! 😅😣😂
I found this video in a Google search. I had brought out my acrylics yesterday & they were globby. Thank you for sharing this information! Now I don't have to replace all of the paints!
Awesome!! Glad it was helpful! if some of the paints still don't want to cooperate, they can be used as a first layer of some mixed media project 😊🐞🎨

Ooh, I have Liquitex. I'm going to try this! Thank you.
One sunflower on either side of your head! I can't decide if this is whimsical and playful, or cuckoo bananas.
😂 I'd say definitely whimsical cuckoo bananas! 🌻🦜🍌
Shake shake shake!!!! Other ideas besides adding water! Thanks!!
And you care about the disposal water!!! Awesome!!!

I would NOT recommend to anyone using ammonia. It is a TOXIC gas/liquid that can harm in contact!! 😳😫😨

Yes! I fixed a few bottles already! 😆😆😆
Yepper thx great job
I got a dollar store paint Christmas furnitures and I opened the paints and their dry in one of the pots of paint
if is is solid, you cannot save it, but if it still "stains" to the touch, you can try... or take it back to the store. Thanks for visiting! Good luck

Glad I could help! Test first how dry they are, and work on the ones that are still moist. I hope all your paints turn out ok!

in the video you have a rotating paint container storage rack may I ask what it's called and where I can get one please

How much time does it talk to dry
Very little! Depending on the size of the paper, still less than a minute in my weather
Acrylic paint over metallic acrylic silver paint? Won’t stick!?

What is is fully dry?
When acrylic paint is fully dried in the bottle, looks like plastic, all solid, and no longer able to paint anything. I hope it makes sense?
The ones of mine that got too thick are in tubes
if you are daring, you can try opening the bottom part of the tube. I have done it and it's a messy job lol

using normal tap water can be dangerous (for human health)?
well I guess it depends where the person lives, I suppose? But mostly, tap water can mold inside a closed paint bottle, so, it is recommended to either boil some, wait to cool and add, or get from a water jug. Unless the full paint will be used soon. Same for Gesso, unfortunately
@@ilove2paint ah, I didn’t think about that! Thank you! Luckily in my country water is clean, but I heated/boiled some water to try this method.
