Grenadines Bareboat Adventure: 8 Days Sailing in Paradise

- This was my favorite bareboat charter thus far; if you’re considering a bareboat charter in St. Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines you should definitely go for it!
Our research told us that we were in for a lot of tradewinds sailing that would be impacted by the mountainous islands. We had heard that the anchorages and moorings fields were rolly. We weren’t sure how difficult the customs and immigration procedures would be going between St. Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) and St. Lucia.

That looks like it was an awesome sailing trip!
Just found your channel. I subscribed. Keep the videos coming. Happy Sailing.
Really enjoyed this video -- thanks for editing a posting such a professional travelogue. Looking forward to our similar trip in March 2018
Did a similar trip and enjoyed it!
The southern Caribbean is much different from the northern Caribbean!
Be careful of local pirates coming to your boat selling goods, sometimes they are checking you out!
Well done. Just finished our 2nd bareboat charter in the BVIs and am starting to look for new sailing grounds. I am thinking of leaving out of St. Lucia to St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Your trip video really gave me a sense of the change in distances. This will be real sailing. Thanks again!
It was a great trip but the most common feedback I got from the crew was "not enough time ashore to explore". 200nm in a week vacation was a lot: savvysalt.com/blog/grenadines-bareboat-adventure-2016/
Just got back from a trip where we did more like 70nm and now they're saying not enough sailing. You can't please em all...
nice job on the sailing and the video
Hope you guys have better luck next time.
Thank you, we appreciate the sentiment
Leaving tomorrow for a Rodney Bay -> Granada bareboat on The Moorings 43.3. Been looking around for a video that details the sloop (or similar) i will be riding it. Much appreciated for sharing.
Glad to be of service! How many nights aboard?
10 nights, just back last night. Same boat make, but we were given "Carto Wines" and I too took the go pro out for a spin and you've inspired me to attempt a video however I'm a far better sailor than video editor so keep expectations low!
Hi Guys, brilliant video and great timing for me to have found it !!
We are chartering a 47ft mono hull through Sunsail next week and your route ( the standard 8 day route it seems) is almost the same as yours.
What was the mooring in Marigot Bay ? My crew, read wife and non sailing friends, will need a break and that looks perfect for them.
Jonathan ⛵️🏝️🇬🇧
It was one of the hotel moorings. We also cleared in there but that was last decade so definitely check up to date mooring availability and logistical options
Thanks for such a great video. What time of year were you there?
February
Can I buy a boat and rent out for income please? May I ask how can I get the license and do I need to take any driving test in St Vincent please?
I have no particular bias, but wouldn’t a cat be more comfortable for multiple couples on a Caribbean bareboat cruise?
We weren't multiple couples we were as many singles as couples. If you're looking to do a multiple couples trip it's worth checking out a cat but you'll probably find it 1.5x to 2x more expensive per person in the Grenadines
Can you clarify the nonadjustable lazy jacks and underpowered rudders issues in a way a non cruising sailor could understand. To get an idea of my level of experience, I sail dinghies on vacation in the summer and watch RUclips cruising videos
The lazy jacks are the ropes that are woven into a kind of net that catches the sail when you drop it. When they're adjustable you can add slack to them so that they don't get caught up on the sail nearly as much as you see them doing here: ruclips.net/video/YZgWmzlQqp0/видео.html at 4 minutes into the video when we're trying to raise the sail.
The underpowered, really undersized, rudders meant that when big puffs hit the rudder was not powerful enough to keep the boat on course and we'd round up into the wind. Which meant we'd have to carry less sail than we otherwise might have.
Helpful?
SavvySalt Very helpful!
Did you visit Palm Island?
doesn't ring a bell so probably not
