Hey Brad I'm 64 going to be 65 in March still have a full head of hair although gray now, sometimes I look in the mirror and think it looks like a wig too😂😂😂😂 keep the great stories coming man!
wow, great stuff Bad Brad. I remember all through the mid 80s and early 90s and playing in metal bands, I was always pretty much a blues guitarists and stocky build and wiry hair that no one could do anything with. When I was in a metal band, I would have to get my hair "relaxed" with chemicals and then trimmed, what a chore. I never looked right with the jeans tucked in the cowboy boots looks, hated it! I remember one day I got so sick of my "wig" that I went to a barber shop in the subway station in Times Square and had them basically give me a crew cut. I showed up at band practice and my singer at the time was like a mini Paul Stanley clone and he gasped and then chewed me out "you cut your hair???" good thing for me around that time blues was moving to the forefront and a lot of clubs started opening that had live blues, I thrived in that environment. All about timing! Take care, love this stuff.

So I am a new subscriber. I am from Albany, NY originally and visited out there in 1987 ( I was 20) with my cousins and their friends who were also from CA and I loved it!! Wow you brought back to my Berklee days ,but I took a curriculum in songwriting and guitar ,I did had to auctionto be accepted but they placed me with all the same people,no skill level.I did finish and graduated with a masters .Which I’m proud ,it was one of my bucket list.I did the whole sunset strip thing but in Louisiana,we look at it as a musical Mardi Gras,no big deal to us😂😂😂😂
The old cinder block practice rooms at MI. When I was there I remember Peavy and Crate amps chained to the floor of those rooms.I would watch Scoot Henderson jam out in one of these little rooms. When he was done he would tell us students he needed one of us to get him stoned. Good Times😄
You got to stay in Scott's Private Lesson Room??? He used to chase all of us 'f###ingredients metal dudes" out back in the Fall 1988- Spring 1989 sessions. I guess, he only wanted to teach the players who were into jazz and fusion, as if our tuition wasn't as green as theirs!

But the whole time you're angling it all back to yourself in a sad sort of way that has you compromising your teen morals to become a Glam Poser on the strip. I remember in the early 80s when Metallica used to puff out their chests and scream - "Death to posers!". The next thing you know they're posing in every rock magazine under the sun. We are not here to change the world. The world is here to change us....
Axle Rose was from Lafayette Indiana actually I went there in 2002 and I saw it as a renovated college town. Obviously not a rock and roll haven but not some hillbilly town really. I certainly never saw anyone with straw in their mouth there

Funny thing is I missed the 80s. I got out of the navy in 90. Hairbands were gone or just hanging on. So my first band attire was flannel. 😝
