  • By the time we got into our hotel from the long travel day it was about 2am local time. We knew we had to get up early to force our bodies to adjust to the current time zone. We met for breakfast and then headed out to walk around. The traffic was SO interesting to watch. It seemed so chaotic, yet it all worked! We found a beautiful little park to explore at. Our wonderful guide (Anek) picked us up and took us on a culinary journey to 4 different local spots and then ending at the Wat Suthat Temple. Here we got to experience the monks chanting and prayer to the Buddha.
    Things we learned:
    1. 7/11 is everywhere and your go to shop for anything you need.
    2. You can only buy beer from 12pm-2pm and then again from 5pm-11pm
    3. You must take off your shoes, socks and hats when entering the room to the Buddha. You burn 3 incense at a time. One represents the Buddha, 2nd the Buddhist scriptures and 3rd the monk. You can burn up to 5 which will bring more fortune and blessings to your ancestors.
    4. To greet people you put your hands in prayer touching your thumbs to your nose.
