I admire a person who does what they love to do> I used to want to go commercial but found finances were not sufficient to do so, and so I am a hobbyist for 30 years. Now I can't do too heavy work. But I LOVE the bees especially collecting a wild swarm. and trying to keep ahead of my girls to head off an unwanted swarm. Great video. It gives me a sense of what I missed, but am so happy to still be able to keep several hives and teach aspiring beekeepers. Thanks young man. Rick in Pa.

Excellent. Well done! Describes the cycle of the northern Canadian beekeeper clearly and concise. Some years the spring warmth comes a couple weeks earlier. Some it is a few weeks later. Nonetheless, the bee schedule doesn't change much, especially the month of May. Thanks for laying it out so well!

Thanks for the idea of foamies. I was scratching my head, investigated, and was shocked. Insulation of R9 from fancy bubble wrap! 🤯🤯🤯

Thank you for the video! I'm glad that I found your channel. It's nice to hear that you make time for your family. I am fascinated with the bees, I'm learning and building my apiary up to a manageable number and then I will decide on whether or not I would like to do it full-time. I can see how it could get out of hand really fast and make me wish that I still had my job. Thank you for speaking the truth.

Great video. Thank you for sharing your beekeeping experience/method/technique. You do save time in not having to wrap and unwrap the hives by storing them indoor during winter. Most of us small beeks won't have that storage facilities. I do agree with your feeding supplements that helps the bees to be healthy so they can live and work and fight diseases and make better/healthy bees.

Hello. I am a beginer from Romania and I watch with much interest your videos. Beekeepers in Romania say it is not ok to bulk feed the bees in September, but in the second half of August, because it wear the bees that will go though the winter. What is your opinion about this position? Thank you and God bless!

Hello, I took the advantage of your videos since couple of years; I've seen this one at least 3 times and any time new understanding and feed. About early feed with dry soy flour in open drums is there any risk for robbing between families? THX Ian.

    • @aCanadianBeekeepersBlog

a Canadian Beekeeper’s Blog Mann Lake has a product they call Winter patties they say does not promote brood and they have another product called pollen Patty designed to be fed in late winter which has all the goodies you talk about for brood rearing. Thank you. Your series is sincerely helpful to me and I am sure many others.

Just one question I have that you haven’t mentioned in your video is do you move your bees to sunflower fields as well or is that not available in your area?
And if how many supers can they fill?

Hi Ian, i am wondering if you have hive beetle where you are. Here in Australia i find it hard to feed a pollen pattie to hives without hive beetle going crazy for the hive that have it. Can you please get back to me it would be much appreciated.

A pollen patty in australia should be called a hive beetle lure, we cant use them here in qld without having beetles laying eggs
