Donnell Rawlings Roasts Corey Holcomb For Dissing Dave Chappelle After Dave's Grammy Win - CH News

- hypersclub.com/ - While reacting to Dave Chappelle's recent Grammy's win, Donnell Rawlings appears to want the moment to silence Corey Holcomb. As you may know, Corey Holcomb has been very critical of Chappelle's comedy and has labeled the comedy great as "overrated". Instagram: @HypePlus.TV & Twitter: @HypePlusTV
Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I personally believe Dave Chappelle has taken a path similar to George Carlin. Conscious comedy tends to resonate more with audiences, as it sticks with them long after the show. Addressing current events and hot-button issues not only sets a comedian apart but also makes their work more impactful and thought-provoking.
Exactly!! The majority of comics are super smart. And many comics state their opinion with humor, and many times their humor can border on straight commentary. And Chappelle has chosen more commentary than humor.
Bill Burr is this generations Carlin...Chapelle these last few years is something new altogether...
Carlin was funny. Chappelle is no longer funny. His diatribes and attempts at being deep are cringe. Society has reached the peak of sheep-mentality, so OF COURSE my opinion will be hated on..but it is the truth. He is not funny anymore. If you are famous, you can do no wrong. The worship has reached critical-mass. There is no more objectivity. Everything is ‘good’. It’s called COMEDY, not a speech.
@@marcelmarshall4240clown
Chappelle is not Carlin. Carlin made me laugh. Dave is always bombing and even the old specials were overrated. We really liked him for the Chappelle Show. That was the best thing he's ever done.
Chappelle Stand Up is called Evolution.. Hes becoming a greater storyteller with age & slipping a healthy amount of humor within the storylines.. Corey still talking bout baby momma drama, sidechicks & abortion clinics like hes 25.. smh.. Ninja Grow Up..
Yeah but storytelling doesn’t mean it’s funny.
Dave is not funny in stand up he's not even top 5 borderline 10.
But when it comes to TV movie skits/scripts he's top 5 easily
EVOLUTION NAW LITTLE KID. THAT'S ILD SCHOOL COMEDY. THE PROBLEM IS U INTERNET KIDS DON'T KNOW HISTORY
@@sadetwizelveOBVIOUSLY YOU'RE NOT EDUCATED ON COMEDY
comedy is about being FUNNY! evolution doesn't matter if u evolve into something besides comedy
Corey stay salty and hating 🤣🙄 Get a life big grown ass
Comics have to do that in order to prepare for a special. They’d rather bomb in a nightclub then on Netflix, but Corey Holcomb would never know anything about being on Netflix.
Corey Holcomb and his Chappelle hate is real. Which is telling that Dave has said he bombed many times. He even made a Netflix standup and gave us a laugh. What netflix standup did Corey give.
Corey gonna say they won't give him a Netflix because he's "too real" and not a "fruit booty" 😂.....that's his goto for every conflict lmao.
Corey can't talk he's not even close to being funnier then chappelle and he one dimensional only talks about baby mamas a b ort ions and side hoes chappelle ain't did a movie in forever so why he say he elite in that he just hating cause he did the watermelon heist 😂😂😂
@CodenameRawTV He's too real for a Netflix special why do you think he has a podcast for.
he called Dave a comedy elite in movies...how is he hating?
@@truuff Regarding that specific comment, I wouldn't categorize it as "hating." However, I would call it ridiculously "NAIVE." It's also totally incorrect, as there are NO receipts to support his subjective CLAIM.
In fact... Chappelle has but only TWO films in which he's played a leading movie role. So what the hell is Corey even talking about?? lol🤔🤔🤷🏿♂🤷🏿♂
@1:40 What's Ironic.. Corey just sits on his show talking to Craig & Darlene like the "Big Homie"... And they just agree wit him like "Yep" "Yep" "Yep".. lol.. Same shit he says Chappelle is doing.. 🤔🤷I remember Dee actually used to have a voice on the show & be opinionated.. Now she's just another Yes Man (woman) over there.. smh..
Best observation yet
Exactly. Corey is a huge hypocrite
Don't forget he can't get booty goons out of his mind
Dave does remind me of the uncle who was the man back in the day, has a million stories, and tries to command the room for a few hours.. His style has definitely changed over the years, and I feel that’s natural.. And getting older and seasoned.. I don't expect him to be at 100 when trying out new material though.. That's the point of showcasing small rooms.. To see what hits and what doesn't.. But when he in an arena, he's on point…
Yea man, I saw Dave back in 2015 at a pretty large venue in Salt Lake City. I hadn't seen anything from him let alone heard a PEEP since his show on Comedy Central, and he slayed TF out of that show.
It was kinda weird seeing how different he looked though, he looked like the twin brother who ate his other twin brother because of how much muscle he had gained, lol. I watched his Killing the Softly routine the day before so I had THAT version of him in my head so when he came out on stage I was like, "Well? Where tf is he and who is this large man trying to impersonate Dave Chappelle"?
Then he started smoking on stage, said "f^^k the Clean Air Act" and killed it for like 2 hours straight.
I still like Dave comedy, BUT..i would be lying if that shit aint turned into a Ted Talk
I've been saying this, I've heard other comedians say this in so many words. His recent SNL monologue was funny but Dave at clubs isn't comedy, it's just philosophy and observations
Exactly
It sounds like his process to come up with new material. Not like he can just go out and about and interact with people like he could when in his 20's, and just TALK to strangers let alone go out on the town. Personally I think he's just even more hilarious because of how his entire set weaves and intertwines with itself, jokes come back and hit on another one ect.
Plus, him being a married man and a father who's middle aged also changes everything about you and how you view the world, not to mention the insanity that he had to endure just because of telling JOKES.
Mfs running around acting like he personally "minecrafted" their entire family tree going from 2000 years ago to present day, AND f^^^^ed their mom because of his very grounded and sane views on current "culture" and how ridiculous it's become, smfh
Dave is not overrated he’s the best. Corey is genuinely a jealous hearted person.
Definitely not the best but he's a great talent.
@ I think he is the best. He’s my favorite comedian I’ve been a fan since I was a child back in the 90s
Dave Chappelle stand up has never been funny it's actually corny as hell but the show he had on comedy Central was funny though
@ ain’t no way, ain’t no how, he is brilliant and hilarious but whatever
Honestly I never heard of Holcomb maybe he should tell some jokes instead of coming after Dave?
Holcomb is a one-dimensional shock jock. His level is the sit-around and blab about more successful performers. Black folks entertain goofs like him though.
Not all black people
I left 5150 when Zo left. Corey hasn’t changed his shtick yet 🙄
I'm going to start calling him Faizon Holcomb from now on.
😂😂
@@vonwoods32 I'm going to catch hell from both of those brothers, but it popped in my head and i couldn't help myself😂😂
Corey Holcomb is a clown
Not only that but he’s not funny and never has been not even on wild n out
Y’all crazy smh I don’t agree with Corey view on DC though
💯
Dave does story style comedy. I love it, because it makes you think. Also, not everyone can do it.
Who hasn’t Corey fallen out with? Lol…..
The Robert Taylor Homes
Dave has comedy down to a science. He so good at comedy it can be weaponized.
Corey Holcomb is acting like he's actually funny...he isn't. Getting a few chuckles talking about your baby mama is the same stuff he was talking about 25 years ago. Fact is Dave has grown into deeper subject matter and funny observations on what happening....I dig that. I like comedy that's not just meant for teenagers. Corey is saying Netflix wont give him a special because he's "too real" ? - Netflix specials are expensive to produce, and he doesn't have much of an audience (that would come). Dude is a one trick pony - 5 minutes in; his baby mama and abortion jokes will be done, and he'll have nothing else.
Corey Whole Clown
These hating crab 🦀 in a barrel Comics can't make me dislike Dave Chappelle Dave Chappelle is much more than a stand-up comedian he's much more than a comedian in movies he is up there on the Mount Rushmore of taking comedy to a new level and for the record everybody bombs they're lying if they say they don't or if they say they say did only when they first started out.
This is why I look at folks with a side eye when they compare Corey to Patrice O'Neal. That's an insult to Patrice
Corey the new Goat
@rokarion6979 I can tell from your picture your parents were brother and sister
Dave is too intellectual for some. his style of comedy goes over some people’s head and he makes you think!! ❤
Why Correy always hating on someone im starting to think everything that Dr Bryant chick said about him was true
Corey seems jealous and frankly a bit petty. David is as good as Pryor was. Is he always going to hit every performance out of the park, no. Sometimes its better to stay quiet.
Corey is a clown who can only stay relevant by antagonizing people like a high-schooler. I been gave up on dude after his pettiness on the old 5150 show with Zo.
Dave is a goat Idk what Corey talking about💯
If Dave Chappelle is over rated,, he earned it. Now earn yours Corey, and shut up.
Never will happen
On another note, Corey Holcomb was hilarious on Nick Cannon's "We playin Spades" youtube show. 😂
But Corey doesn't have Grammy nominations or wins,no major comedy specials,no major movie roles let alone he isn't on no one's radar in comedy.
@larrymarshall8900 I dont care about none of that. I want to laugh. Corey is on me and alot of people's radar. I've seen him plenty of times and I wasn't alone in theater or club.
I’m a big fan of Dave he’s definitely one of the Goats but I did see him in person and the show was ok. I didn’t leave thinking it was the greatest shit I’ve ever seen. I saw Mike Epps and he had everyone dying from laughter. Dave does know how to put a televised special together tho he has some of the best.
I agree Chapelle, unfortunately, has succumb to being a commercial preacher. As a younger comedian, my belly would hurt laughing so much at his jokes but now he’s just talking about world, events and society. We can see that other places but when I go to a comedy show I wanna hear jokes…..not personal philosophy.
No. Mr. Chappelle is not overrated. With a professional career existing over three decades, and is still relevant if not even more relevant in 2025, the proof is obvious. Not saying Mr. Holcomb is a hater, but some people (included fellow comedians) just don’t comprehend the concept of the diversity of public opinion and perception.
WE, “the people” have our own taste and definition of what WE see as funny, entertaining or just plain talented. WE like and dislike what WE like and dislike, it’s that simple!…Jordan, Kobe, LeBron. Pryor, Murphy, Chappelle!?…Everyone has their OWN definition of who they consider “The G.O.A.T.”
At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter. WE will always have OUR OWN opinions and perspectives. And that will NEVER change, regardless if there’s no “Corey Holcombs” or if there’s a million “Corey Holcombs”.
I totally agree with CH. I love to hear DC talk as he makes total sense but he doesn’t make me laugh much. Ijs.
Jokes and jokes spaghetti spaghetti 8 mile.

"Telling jokes back to back is trying too hard"
No, that's just called "comedy", my friend.
Comedy is show business. Behind what you see is A LOT of what you don’t see. When you see a special, that’s the best of the best they got based on what they do at the clubs and smaller venues. They’re trying out new jokes. Bombing happens even to the best of them. There are comedians who are always refreshing their material and some who’ve told the same set for years. Some who appeal to the lowest common denominator and some who have a broader audience. DC is not for everyone but his mind for comedy is unmatched. GOAT!
I mean Corey ain't lying 😂
Idc what you people say, if i go to a comedy show, i want to hear jokes. If i want to hear a story, I'll read a book or watch a movie. He was never a great standup, and now it's just ridiculous!
I mean if you’re simple and his comedy goes over your head Corey just say that.
Donnell still mad Corey called him MILD 😆
Yep
🎯🔥
He is mild
It's a strange place we occupy in this online community where everyone seems to want to trump subjective opinion with their own. Comedy is an art and if it doesn't suit you, don't tune into it. A comedian criticising another seems a desperate grab at attention. How can one with a vested interest in the craft be an objective observer? He stated, "I have big balls" and that sums it up as an ego thing. Fans of this craft should never look at ratings or award shows to gauge their taste in the craft. Just watch and support whom you will. Why do we all have a debate about a useless opinion? #scarecrowzw
Corey gonna cook Darnell on the 5150 show😅 but Chapelle is the 🐐 of stand up.
Dave ain't even top 5 in stand up 😂 but scripted material he makes a great case to be
Corey should have just said he doesn't like Dave's new style because calling him overrated is Nuts
Daves act is solid for what he does in specials but if you catch him working out at a regular show good luck.
I feel Dave has become more of a lecturer than a comedian, but that's just my opinion tho!
I saw Dave in San Diego in 2002 at Spreckles Theatre, and I left before his show was over. Chappelle's Show had me in tears. Now, I can listen to Dave's stories, and find some humor in them, BUT to me he's back to that 2002 comic I walked out on in the middle of his show.
I feel like Corey's comments went completely missed...
When Dave does a stand up special, he actually does stand up. But other times, he just gives Ted Talks. That isn't comedy. If we're judging off his stand ups, he's the best currently. But some of his material isn't comedy.
Dosent matter Dave is the GOAT of stand up comedy.
Damon Waynes said this about a 2 years ago after his 2nd netflix comedy special that he just be talkin
How you say Corey called Dave overrated but then post a clip of Corey saying that Faizon said Dave was a little overrated?
How many grammys he got.
@@JB-zp5jp What was the Grammy for?

I think Dave is overrated yet Corey is still hatin'.
The clone doesn't do jokes 😂😂😂
Corey Holcomb hands down the funniest comedy out. He's your favorite comedians favorite comedian
Chappelle is nothing like Carlin. He's more like Bill Cosby. He's become preachy and elitist and more conservative. He stopped being funny because his white friend Neal Brennan wrote his jokes while he picked the subject matter, like Paul Mooney for Richard Pryor. Pryor wasn't funny either after his breakdown and when Mooney stopped writing for him.
I feel like anytime a comic wants to get over, he picks the biggest and baddest comic there is (Chappelle) and criticizes him to get likes! Comedy is hard enough with non-comedians criticizing every aspect of mainstream comedy, not to mention oversensitive groups getting butthurt over being used for in stand up comedy. Corey doesn't get the venues Dave does even though he's been in the game awhile. Corey doesn't get the awards Dave does. But why can't Corey just congratulate Dave and move on? Jealousy is such an ugly thing, just ask Katt Williams.
He's only going after Dave because he's got a little target on his back by the emotionally unstable woke left, basically thinking he's gonna score points with people who would "cancel" his a^^ just as fast for the things he's said and done 20+ years ago, lol.
He's not overrated. He's evolved. Study Richard Pryor. Comedy is rooted in storytelling and life.
Grammies paid for
I bet the people defending Dave never seen him live. Dude charging almost a thousand for two cheap seats. It's definitely not worth it. Made me realized we crowned him a GOAT because of the Chappelle show, not his stand up.
Comedy is subjective.
I believe Dave Chappelle is just a different type comedian who is very educated and too much of a genius for a lot of people understand his comedy...he can take something very serious and make you cry and then turn around and make you laugh without changing the narrative! He went from Reggie , to one of the best of our era ! Hats off to Dave !
Not a fan of Correy but he is on the money with this one.. Dave stand up ain't it
We will never get “Killing Me Softly” and “For What lts Worth” Dave Chappell ever again.
Lol i comtinue what im doin for netflix to pay me 20 and 60 million for a stand up
Dave is overrated imo and Rawlings is corney . But overrated or not Dave did put in the work so whatever accolades he gets is well deserved.
Who would win in a stand up special verzus with Chappelle vs Rock?
Chappelle
more non sense between black men.. just be happy for a brother can we do that?
Not with Corey you can’t. You’re either talentless, gay or a punk when Corey has a say 🙄
Adult I saw Dave Chappelle live in Memphis and it was the funniest special I had ever seen in my life anywhere and he has never done no jokes anywhere else
He’s not the same comedian he was when he did Killing them softly, but he’s still in a class by himself compared to most of today’s comedians and has evolved, his material is more thought provoking and intellectual than 20 or so years ago. He’s has evolved. I like Cory too, but honestly he hasn’t grown or evolved. I’m not saying he needs to, but it doesn’t feel like he has. Dave talks about more social issues and isn’t afraid of controversy and doesn’t feel the need to play it safe, whether you agree with his views or not, you know where he stands and people are going to talk about his specials. Cory on the other hand, is like going to McDonald’s, his comedy is like it’s being prepared by fast food workers, and people love their McDonalds, whereas Dave’s comedy is being prepared by a chef. I definitely don’t think Cory should be going after Dave though
Why can't Corey have an opinion? He doesn't think Dave all that at stand up...ok.
Corey is a gossiping hen
I do believe Dave is overated ! When I go see a comedian, I want to be laughing my azz off, and Dave doesn't do that for me !
Corey was right about Dave's standup but he is far from overrated. Corey was one hundo about Donell. Dude is cringy just doing interviews, not to mention stand up. Calling him mild was being nice.
I hate to agree with Corey, but he's right. Dave just talks like he the big homey, like he's being interviewed. But on TV he is great! But this isn't the real Dave though! 😂😂
dave is more than a comic he is entertaining but when i watch standup i just want to let go and laugh til my side hurt
Comedy Hype think they slick 😆 we seen that 1 minute clip yall posted. Tell y'all editors to get it together
What's your favorite Corey Holcomb joke?
Yeah, I don't know any either
This!! 💯💯💯
Caling women bees and holes, thinking he funny.
Corey is the draymond green of comedy
Good.
Donnell is mild. Dave has the leniency to work out material for hours in front of crowds due to the work he put in. Corey is one of the greatest stand ups ever! 5150 nyukka!
Dave Chappelle isn’t overrated, but his last 2 stand up specials I didn’t like
Feels like Dave Chappelle s comedy career is coming back full circle; he started getting famous mostly from the half baked crowd. The Chappelle Show gained most of his blk fans now in 2025 a lot of his blk fans don't like his comedy style ,but everyone else does yet again
The first clue Corey should have had that his take was going to be shit was when he admitted "Only Faizon Love" said Dave was overrated publicly. When you start getting your takes from Faizon you're losing in life. You can literally add Corey's and Faizon career together and multiply it by 3 and it still wouldn't equal half of Dave's career.
Donnel is a sad man. No one would believe he was funny if not for Dave Chappelle.

Why in the world in 2025 can't black people come to realization that everybody can be at the top? It's not about who is better or worse, it's about knowing that both can have successful careers because there are enough people in the world to have as many fans as you earn. Damn! Brotha finally at the top of his game doing great things for our little community in Yellow Springs and now he's overrated! STFU we are thrilled that the artists are coming to us for the first time and we don't have to fly across the country to see them. Thank you Mr. Chappelle for remembering where you came from and showing us some love. Good Luck with whatever you doing Mr. Holcomb! I have yet to see you in action but now that I know, I know!
TF you showing us what 15 online users said? SMH
Dave is definitely overrated and doesn't deliver back to back laughs, but Corey is one of the biggest haters, second to only Faizon Love !!
Dave is funny and smart and makes the listener think.
Corey has talked incessantly about how manhood feels to him. That he feels like people only want men for what they provide financially. He applies that logic to his industry. He can’t fathom that people could care about Dave beyond the jokes because he thinks jokes=money. Corey wants everyone else to shut up and dribble like he and his cohort have to. He had such a problem with old girl because he said she wasn’t funny but was somehow making money headlining. Its confused about how people can provide without performing desperation. It’s quite sad really although I have no sympathy.
Daves comedy evolved in to social commentary and telling jokes is what new comics do well in hopes of trying to get a big break the problem with Corey is that he's stuck in that phase at 30 yrs in the game ..... 😂
MrGameChangers is correct that everyone is entitled to their own opinion. All people do not find the same things funny or like the same comedy styles. I feel Dave Chapelle has earned his award; however, I do feel he was definitely funnier when he was younger.
They are all great! Love these 3 comedians.
Some people like knock knock jokes and some people like humorous life observations. Which one are you?
Now truth be told, Dave is a story teller. He’s going to make you think.
Vs Katt, who will too, but Katt be roasting folks. Dave does too but he likes to roast the powers that be.
Two totally different lanes
I don’t think Corey is smart enough to understand Chappelle’s comedy.
People don't like the messenger but he told the truth. Dave is not in the upper tier of stand up comedians. But that doesn't take away from him being an amazing scripted comedian
Donnell is still mild, the nerve of him to try and come at Corey Holcomb. Btw did Comedy Hype clear up that lie about Corey hitting some heffer at a club?
When was Corey's last special?
It’s sad that our people find it impossible to congratulate another African American for accomplishments made in a space controlled by another race. Dave is celebrated among elites because of his contributions to comedy & television with The Chappelle Show. The same is true for Eddie Murphy who saved SNL and was a movie box office success. What did Corey Holcomb or Faizon Love do that was memorable other than hate on another black man for something they weren’t able to do?
Dave's comedy went from weed jokes to true comedy stories. How can you fault someone comparing them to Carlin? Corey is entertaining because he's so ghetto but like it's been pointed out, he got plenty of room to grow up.
Chappelle is funny, but he’s not rolling-on-the-floor-laughing funny; where I’m laughing till the back of my head hurts. Put it this way, for standup, he’s better than Kevin Hart by leaps and bounds, but not in my top five - not even top ten.
give me your top 10
Everyone doesn’t have the attention span for certain comedians. I wouldn’t be surprised if Corey Holcomb doesn’t like Josh Johnson either.
I like the young Dave, I don't like the Ted talk dave, but he is still funny, but I do think his TV stuff is legendary, but for me his new style of Stand-ups are overrated in my opinion, even though I still enjoy them.
