In this clip, Yung Joc discussed the current state of hip-hop and why he considers it to be "poisonous." According to Joc, the themes that dominate rap are destructive and are largely reinforcing the very conditions those who rap seek to escape. In spite of sounding like the proverbial "old man," Joc urged rappers to clean up their message a bit.

Don't have children if you're unwilling to do the work to raise them. Don't let the streets raise your children. Our young children need to get lost in books, not the streets.

I share his sentiments and I’ve felt this way for a while. The culture needs a major change. We as consumers can help by not buying/viewing/listening to content that promotes negativity. Sadly, that’s the content that’s most desired and has the highest monetary return. But what’s the cost? high death rate, long prison sentences, fatherless homes, lack of education, and envy of material things. Meanwhile, other cultures will watch the “entertainment” that we provide but still make it thru college, find a spouse, get a good job, and deny our people work because they think they know us through looking at all the BS. Wash, rinse, repeat and another decade goes by with 1000s in the ground, jailed, and uneducated. The culture needs a change, and we need it now.
