SNI Penitencia 2019 Cainta, Rizal

Penitencia is a tradition in Cainta, Rizal Philippines during Holy Week as a reenactment to the sacrifice Jesus Christ had made to cleanse our sins. It is where the devotees carry the cross on their shoulders while the Jews (portrayed by the locals) hit them with a leather whip.

Prepared po sila mentally. Kasi matik na every Holy Week, panata na nila yung magpasan ng krus at hampasin sa likod ng yes, leather po yan. Nasasaktan po talaga sila as tribute nung ginawang sacrifice ni Jesus Christ.
