  • Paints-UNDO was released just yesterday, in a place where AI Content creators are using this to prove their "integrity" how do we get around it? What was the purpose of this? It's a new model for Stable Diffusion.

    Leave an idea besides using sketchbooks and layers for artist's integrity :)?

      I think just innovating. Doing narratively good pieces, challengeing compositions, more relatable. Maybe hand made digital art will pivot to some direction that separates itself from AI images because they do have certain look to them.
      On the other hand maybe we will see different branches of digital art because for sure some artists will partially embrace AI but they will be more open about it and it will get normalized. This is hard to predict.

    this is so devious. I swear, in 2 years the internet and the economy will be moslty based on grifts and decoupled from actual value. This has no other use than deception.

      YEP! There is no other purpose, people will use it to pretend to be artists and even if it gets 'better', it's gunna still expose their use of AI.

      we've been there for at least a decade, its only showing because the big companies are realizing that people no longer care and will buy trash and not think about the stuff they consume.

    Thank you for talking about this. I teach computer science, but people need to know the realities of technology right now, and a lot of this AI stuff is problematic for the kinds of work people want to do that contribute positively to society. I took a concept art course right after Midjourney was released, and I believe in knowing how to do the actual work---to keep trying to learn. Just finished a 2nd year English course as well on comics, and if I just brushed off learning how to write because of ChatGPT, I would have lost out on so much beauty.
    Nightshade helps with poisoning AI models, and Glaze helps protect your artwork, but these can be defeated, unfortunately. I think visible watermarking in creative ways would be the best defense, yet I'm not sure how much people can really put efforts into that realistically. Perhaps by having a font display text in a specific style would keep the time lapse "watermarked" when the AI tries to mimic it with brushstrokes? I think that might be the best thing to do.
    Keep encouraging people to be real!

      Just watched another of your videos, and you are doing the hard work for people in the trenches!
      I know robotics will start to do similar things in other industries, and myself in education, I know everyone will be dealing with AI like this.
      I see game developers making Westworld-inspired chatbots and I wonder what your discussions with those developers together would be able to accomplish. People in tech probably want to make Star Trek holodeck experiences, but people still need jobs.

      @friendlyneighborhoodartist  2 месяца назад

      @3Dperson i don't think it will go in that direction. Maybe robots, possibly, but people prefer people. Even if it's a chat bot, nobody wants to talk to a robot forever, some might, but humans are social creatures and we have an amazing bullshit meter.

    I feel like a big thing missing from this is: "yet".
    Ai can't have style consistency - yet.
    Ai can't make "these" markings - yet.
    Ai can't mimic software interfaces - yet.
    The project you are showcasing was developed by two devs repurposing code from tooncrafter and stable diffusion 1.5. This is the effort of hobbyists. The effort of professionals is a different tier.

      There is no yet with this, just like yall said 'You won't be able to tell in a years time'. AI always has a tell. I'm not saying yet because of the very issue that comes with the entire thing. If you watched the whole video, I explained that it has more ai tells than normal ai images. Even if it attempts a consistant style, it still has AI tells in it -- like all ai.
      ai speedpaints might get better but it won't ever be believable. if you draw, you understand why that is :)

    • @marek_tarnawski
      @marek_tarnawski 2 месяца назад +5

      You can fake anything with enough effort. The question is would the effort be worth it? Maybe it would just be easier to just learn to create legitimate artwork. And by the way... there is video "Has Generative AI Already Peaked?" by Computerphile, which might be proof that we are actually reaching a limits of actual models. So in the light of this video when you say "yet" it means it might stay this way for next 15 years or more. We already see the progress is not exponential curve or contious curve but flattening curve.

      @@friendlyneighborhoodartist I'm not so foolish as to set a time table or to speak in absolutes. I just don't think that it's wise to say "this is the best it'll ever be". That kind of thinking leads to people being suprised time and time again.

    • @friendlyneighborhoodartist
      @friendlyneighborhoodartist  2 месяца назад +4

      @@marek_tarnawski You can keep faking but keep getting exposed. It is easier to create actual work instead of pretending, I agree. I think I saw that video about AI is reaching its limits too. Saying 'yet' is the worst thing to try to make an argument around, especially if 'yet' doesn't come until 2077 XD. We CANT HAVE FLYING CARS....'yet' and we'll all be dead, it's not a great argument lol

      @@marek_tarnawski I've seen that video, it isn't about generative models peaking its about the architecture peaking. Transformer architecture to be exact. Transformers are 2017 tech we've stretched to 2024+. There are other architectures that have been developed since then that are still being rolled out, many of which are vast improvements at the lowest level.
      Also its worth mentioning that the effort that went into building this timelapse tool was done by two guys. That's it. Now we all have access to it.

    ALSO IF IT LOOKS SO BAD TO ALL OF YOU THEN WHY ARE YOU EVEN WORRIED ABOUT IT 😭 WOULD YOU MAKE FUN OF A CHILD THAT CANT DRAW AND THEN USES THIS TO MAKE PICTURES NO YOU WOULDN'T BUT IF AN ADULT USES THIS YOU WILL TELL THEM HOW BAD IT IS HOW BAD IT LOOKS WHY DO YOU CARE WHAT SOMEONE ELSE DOES WORRY ABOUT WHY YOUR OWN ART SUCKS AND NO ONE LIKES IT UNTIL YOUR PERFECT STOP JUDGING EVERYONE ELSE

    • @friendlyneighborhoodartist

      @Michael_Jeromy_Kaiser it sounds like you have trouble with emotional regulation. AI will never make you an artist, you'll never be the genuine article. Just like saying I'm an engineer doesn't make me one without creditentials. This speedpaint shit? It's laughable at best, but it does show where aibros are putting their resources. This proves that it was never about being creative but about larping as something they can't be.
      And AI? It'll only ever be so good, there is not enough data for it to make strides exponentially and we are very close to hitting the wall. The curve is flattening, not rising.
      You don't have artistic vision, not in my opinion. You have to know how to apply inspiration for artistic vision to exist.
      What you have are basic ideas with no vision behind it. Unless it's a living entity, understanding context, it's just pattern software that doesn't know humans have bones.
      Enjoy being a scammer, if you use this.
