I was wondering why Jane Garret is so silent. We never know what she’s going through all this year. All we see is her wearing designer gown, runway with smile on her face but behind the camera she’s struggling. This is really sad. Some people will do anything for their on benefits. Jane Garreth is a queen and always will be queen 👸

The way other misses and people were talking about how you acted sometimes without knowing A BIT what was actually going on with you, it's easy to judge people without knowing what they're going through. You did what you could with the little you were offered and turned out you were the most viral and most talked about EVERYWHERE dearest, thank you for everything! You did awesome and actually left a legacy to come.

It’s the bitter truth of this Nation. You’re literally showing the true colour of beauty and glamour industry of our country nepal. People supported you because of your real side. We are so proud and i am happy that u exposing them. I have been participated in one beauty pageant before. As u said we know the winner before the finale. And i was hopeless but still i did my best. Then same thing happened in the finale the nepotism and favouritism. Another thing the winner girl didn’t get anything from that pageant, no prize money, no job , no sponsorship, nothing. You should come with more videos like this. Thank you. And hats off to you.

girl, I feel so validated when you said "all the girls just wanted to go home". I took part in a beauty pageant few months ago and it sucked. It was so unorganized and such a pain in the ass, by the finale I was like fuck this shit and kinda just forced myself to get through the night. I was really disheartened by the fact that some of us girls grow up sort of dreaming about beauty pageants and for the majority of the organizers, its just another money-making scheme. I literally had to be in one to realize just how problematic it is, how we needed to gloss over any viewpoints of ours that didn't resonate with the sponsors or organizers. Honestly, beauty pageants either need to go or be taken over by people/ women who actually care about women because until then we're simply parading like shiny little objects to appease to a certain group of people.

Feel proud of yourself which I know you are. You mentioned that the biggest countries are always the center of attention, but I believed Nicaragua has never been a powerhouse. So, I feel like smaller countries are breaking that stigma. Just like Asia did. It was always Europe and then Latin America, then the Asians countries (Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, India, Vietnam) are now super powerful!
You will do well, actually you will do amazing things. Maybe you should look into speaking out more and like Miss Universe was your dream, step up in the near future and become the organizer or maybe the president of the Miss Universe Nepal, I think you have an amazing story that many girls can look out for you!

    • @kenlau457

That is why I am so glad Nicaragua won. And you should listen to the fans of the powerhouses complaining: Philippines, India, Colombia, South Africa, Thailand...that they all got robbed, they were cut out of the competition too soon, etc. etc. They are so used to seeing their candidates just automatically moving forward that they cannot grasped a non-sash country from Nicaragua just swoop in and take it all. For the past 20 years I have seen so many deserving contestants from non-sash countries either never making the cut and if they do, never moved beyond the first round of competition, leaving the powerhouses in the top 5 and those that do make the top 5 never win and end up as a runner-up. Hopefully the new owners will put an end to sash factor.

So happy that Nicaragua won. Jane here basically exposed what we all know already, SASH FACTOR exists at MU, worst than ever. Contestants from non sash countries are routinely ignored. I get the feeling that Sheyniss would not have won if the pageant had taken place outside Central America even though she was more than qualified in every way. No wonder only Angola and Nicaragua manage to win first time crowns after 2003. Hoping with the new owners sash factor will end at MU and go back to the days when every country had a chance.

This is a common thing with small countries that have the MU franchise. Here in guyana one of the contestants from this years pageant who lives abroad in the uk as a tv host came out and spoke up abt the ugly part of the industry and how unfair she and the other girls were treated also stating that the winner was already picked before hand since her mother was friends with the director. However after being called out the director stated that from next year the organization will have a new director. I am glad that people like you and the contestant from my country choose to speak up bc the pageant industry isnt perfect and it tends to badly affect alot of girls who participate in the national and international level.

So Sad to have her express so badly about the event in El Salvador - To think is the actual people of the country that placed her on top 20 (see the events) for being her “authentic” self… and then say in this video that she was scared to be Harassed by the very same people… is INSANE. The fact that her own country didn’t support her is a different story…. But then also TALK about no small country being given the chance….. I mean, HELLO…. NICARAGUA won… first time ever. That’s a communist, poor and even smaller country than Nepal…. So this claims are ridiculous. As a former MakeUp Artist for the Miss Universe event (not last year) I find her rating 7 out of 10 beyond comprehension - The truth is… This is a Large Body woman, who was placed in Top20 because she was ACTUALLY liked and for her to come here and say… “we were then cut out of top 10” is very BOLD. - very sad to hear this from her. I mean… she even walked Dubai Fashion week and for her today almost at the end that maybe it would be the end of Pageant events…. Seriously?! Ugh. What a disappointing video.
    I Wish her the best.

Sorry to hear about the Nepal organization, but in all fairness MU had 2 preliminaries before the final so all countries could be seen, it's not like they just went and got disregarded the final night at the top 20, also the girl who won is from a small country not a powerhouse at all, you were also in the top 20 and not a powerhouse either so what you're saying sounds like an excuse, people who didn't make it just didn't stand out, although there were definitely some forced inclusions.

Listening to your stories and experience in MISS UNIVERSE, it made me realised that MISS UNIVERSE competition should get rid of the Country basis to represent women as contestants…there is always a gap between so called “powerhouse” countries and underrated countries in this competition. This should be removed to allow more women regardless where they come from. Imagine there are so many deserving girls in a particular country want to join this competition but they need to compete in national level first, and of course, only ONE win and represent the country to MISS UNIVERSE. Sad to see other deserving women need to wait for competing for another year. I know it is for business and entertainment, but align with their motto with women empowerment, as they want Miss universe as a job to carry out, the need to find the right candidate with personal and professional background, not country represent…i hope this will take into consideration for the future of this competition..

It’s sad what you went through. Welcome to the healthcare world from a family nurse practitioner! Congrats passing your nclex.
Nicaragua was not a big country or favorite at all ever ! so I don’t agree with that aspect just fyi. You are right it’s a business, it’s a shame your organization didn’t provide you with the tools to feel supported like those big organizations like the Philippines, or Thailand , Venezuela.

Just be happy you got in top 20 when there were so many deserving women that were not called. Big pageant countries come prepared so they deserve all the spotlight as well.

One pageant girl finally chose to spoke the truth about pageant thing without choosing to be the puppet unlike some Miss Nepals and other winners.
This is so true that Pageant organisation exploit young girls. I, myself, had joined some local pageant and was promised the cash award but they never gave me. Never took me to the tour they had promised to the winners. And when they realised that I was silently protesting (little less than the word protest but yes i was fighting) they never invited me to crown the successor. Still they are running their organisation and the franchise with fake promises!

So sad that this happened to you Ms. Universe Nepal 2023, Jane Dipika Garrett. Back in your Ms. Universe journey, although I am from a different country, I and several friends were hoping you'd at least make the top 10 cut. Sadly, it wasn't as we hoped for. I hope you receive your legal rights, promises, and the closure you deserve for the alleged exploitation and abuse you experienced.

ALL that Miss Nepal says is true & wise... But "judging" is an inherent part of any pageant. (Not sure what she means when she says "We are not here to be judged.")
