    Aesthetic is personal: skill is universal. Well, for me, you have hit both in one piece. I’ve been woodworking for over 45 years and really enjoyed your techniques and skill in making this piece. My No 7 doesn’t see much work these days as my shoulders and back are pretty knackered but I can still use the smaller planes and get great satisfaction from using them. When jointing long boards, I have to use the In-and-out method using the table saw or track saw (always with a fresh blade in). That way gives me very tight joints (even if each board is not cut to exactly 90 degrees).
    Expos resin can be very divisive. I appreciate that it has allowed pieces of timber that would otherwise be scrapped or used with great waste, to be made into pieces. Personally. I prefer the epoxy to be very subordinate to the timber and a favourite way is to use it to fill engravings.
    Have you tried Natura Onecoat hard wax oil. It’s 2 pack which has a great advantage for me and most others with a smaller workshop. It cures enough within an hour or so (given normal temperatures) to be moved to another part of the workshop and prevent any airborne dust contaminating it. It is also much cheaper than any product such as Rubio. I found them having watched the Wood Whisperer review of HWO and his overall recommendation was Natura. I just contacted the guys through their website and they kindly sent me a sample. I’m sure they will do it for you and others.
    I certainly don’t subscribe to many woodworking channels but it is so good to see one from the UK (I’m guessing that part). So, subscribed.

      thanks for the comment and sub, it’s very much appreciated 👍 so pleased you like my work.
      There certainly is something special in using sharp well set up planes and chisels, you really can’t beat it.
      I’ve not used Natura Onecoat but I will definitely be checking it out, thanks for the recommendation. And yep, you guessed right, I’m from the UK 😀

    Nice work!! New woodworker here - You ripped one edge with the track saw then the other side with the table saw - why was the hand plane needed?

    • @GM_Design
      @GM_Design  9 месяцев назад

      thanks glad you liked it 😀 The plane will removes any blade marks etc and give you a chance to fine tune the joint

      that’s just what the websites called “buy me a coffee” where you can send small donations of support, I myself don’t actually drink coffee! You can always use the super thanks option through RUclips if you prefer 😉
