In trying to keep in mind that this is role play and not a real couple, I feel that the couple portrays a difficulty for the therapist. Even though they said they have been together for 3 years they were very standoffish towards one another. A couple at 3 years having problems would seem like they would be more vocal while these two were very quiet. They really didn't expand much on their problem so with what he was working with I think the counselor did well. He listened to what each had to say and made a goal for them to see where they can meet in the middle for a compromise. Hopefully in the next session they would have some more insight with the tasks to work on threat they were given.

my thought is couldn't they go out together as a couple more so he feels less left out
She's still growing mentally he's too old for her 😮
