because it has no part or narrative in the story at all. its an irrelevant scene
it doesn't add any value to movie or story and it doesn't change the story after they cut it

they did alot of reshoots
I heard in an interview that the introduction of Hela was meant to happen in NY, where Odin was supposed to be. But for some reason, they chose to place Odins death in Norway, so I guess we can assume that other things might have got changed as well, like for instance a possible fight between Hela and Odin where Odin dies.
Hela was meant to kill Odin in New York. But they reshot that whole segment.
Martin F they changed it from nyc to norway because the nyc scene was comedic and had odin as the king of the hobos. The director wanted odins death to be more meaningful. The reason hela is shown in the nyc alley is because she would appear as soon as odin died. And since he died in new york thats where she appeared
They should have a deleted scene of Thor and Loki hugging

To anyone criticizing the necessity of this scene, most of the dialogue for this movie was improvised on the spot. This scene is just one of the cuts that the cast found funny, but couldn't put into the film. Most everything else was kept because the movie almost literally wrote itself. In other words, Thor: Ragnarok is essentially the Marvel hype train meme in action.

I'm looking for all the Bruce deleted scenes. He's like a 12-year old boy in Ragnarok, so sweet and silly and innocent. Hope he'll appear more serious and normal in IW1&2.
This scene is fine on its own, but I, can see why it was cut-- not only is it generally unnecessary and too slowly paced for that part of the movie-- the "you're not the god of hammers" line is much better when said by Odin.
I keep repeating that part when Valkyrie walks in and eats the worm. Too Funny!
should have kept this, fits the tone and momentum of the film perfectly.
With some polish, I would've liked to see this in the movie honestly
I know super hero movies are supposed to be action and stuff, but some character building and world building just make it even better, if you like to get immersed in it like me anyway

Originally, it was a line from a guy named Gorr the God-Butcher, who asked Thor during combat if he was god of hammers, and thor answered with a massive lightning bolt.
You can see how that got reworked.
No, it's because of the reshoots. Originally, Odin was a hobo in a New York alley, and Hela would kill him, then we'd get this scene. Taika changed it to the Norway fields version in the reshoots to "give Odin a more respectful sendoff", and that included the Odin ghost scenes, and the "god of hammers" line was moved there.

In my opinion, this hints at what could have been a better movie.

This scene could have been a good addition to the film: it helps address the problem of the way the movie makes it seem like Thor forgets about his father (out of sight out of mind), but addresses the problem in way that doesn't weigh down the movie too much with seriousness.

Banner pretty much sums it up. He got this feather, told it made him fly, he carried it with him everywhere and flew around and stuff, loses the feather, thinks it means he can't fly, then learns feather was just a feather and he's the one that can fly.
Why an elephant can fly I can't remember but it's a pretty standard "the power was in you all along" moral story.

Odin killed by hela, Odin originally homeless in nyc, and I'm pretty sure an early trailer had hulk helping asgard and fight in a forest...or rather Bruce running I in a forest while fighting was happening, then changing off screen, then you hear hulk roar and everyone fighting is like what was that?
