Hate when metal bands feel the need to over-gain-ify their mix and it becomes bass driven with guitars alone (AaL works but that's a unique situation) Lots of the cool organic metal bands have nice audible bass....the popular bands like Metallica not so much
Like many here I found this song on RUclips, by accident, and it’s one of the best songs I’ve ever heard. In 2000, I walked into a video rental store and heard Dream Theater for the first time: the sales assistant was playing Trial of Tears. That experience “rescued“ me from the boyband musical wasteland of the 90s, and I’ve been devoted to DTs music since. Hearing Atlas Stone feels like that moment. I can’t believe this song has escaped my notice for almost ten years!
DT is good, Haken is much better. I actually find myself often skipping this song as Haken has so many more interesting ones to listen to. This is good too, don't get me wrong... But many others trump this.
@@kmok1687 de gustibus non disputandum: I really like Haken but I enjoy DT the most if I have to chose. This album in particular isn't that far from some of the best DT records imo
NO DOUBT...Thank you RUclips. I would have never discovered this amazing band. I love the harmonies. Brings chills up and down my spine. That's whats missing with commercial music today. Again...holy moly....great f'n band. Kind of fell in love with them like I did with Dream Theater back in the 90's.
Hearts will burn come what may With lessons learned along the way To free myself I make a choice Just to be heard I lose my voice Finding strength in solitude I fight to fly with much to prove Is this the way it's meant to be? That song is brilliant. I'm endlessly fascinated when a band can write something as simple as that song's chorus, yet it's so wildly powerful, beautiful, and infectious.
Just make sure you press the Like button an odd number of times (it is prog after all...), since pressing it an even number of times will just cancel out the like. And we don't want that now, do we?
An extraordinary album. The Mountain is up there with many of the classic era prog rock albums IMO. I'm an old timer, with a love for the glory days, but Haken have totally hooked me and reeled me in! Thankyou Haken!!
One of the few newer bands that have made me start believing we haven’t lost what we found in the explosion of goodness in music in the early seventies. Anyone reading this that really enjoys Haken and hasn’t yet experienced Yes… you’re welcome and enjoy. :)
Finally some actual prog. :P I really like me some djent too, but it really has nothing to do with prog. I really wonder why so many people call it that.
This is something so perfect that everyone in the world should ear it. My heart was crushed when Tom Maclean said this was his last project with Haken, anyway keep going guys you were, are and will always be amazing.
This really just can't be fucking described in words or comprehended by any human mind as to how fucking brilliant and awesome and godly this track is. It's been giving me goosebumps for days. Haken is fucking legendary. Keep up the good work.
Sometimes when I listen to Haken's new album, I think there's a litle bit of Steven Wilson hiding in the harmony!!! Great band!!! Keep up the excellent prog music!!!
Oh I haven't forgotten :) My list for all of the great 2013 releases would be quite long; much longer than any of these comments so far! It's been a fantastic year for ProgMetal, and will continue to be by the looks/sound of it!
This album is amazing! It had to grow on me first tbh. I found 'Aquarius' as one of the best (if not the best) Prog outputs of the last 10 years, so it wasn´t easy to outdo this one for me. Well...it happened!! actually. It's not the technical ambition what transports the unique feeling of the album. It's something different what is hard to describe what makes this such a great album. 'Something' happened there. Pure love for this band!!
dont know if anyone gives a damn but if you are stoned like me atm you can stream pretty much all the latest movies and series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my gf for the last days =)
+1 I love Leprous, and honestly "Coal" is a real masterpiece, I suggest everyone to listen to it at least 4-5 times, only after that you can really appreciate what an incredible masterpiece it is. Absolutely a fantastic emotional masterpiece. It deserves more and more attention from the listeners and the media. Trust me. "SALT" is maybe one of the greatest songs of the last 10 years, I swear.
I have been awaiting this new CD for quite a while. Visions is easily one of my desert island discs of all time. Brilliant creation. Looking to pick up this CD ASAP ! Keep on forcing your sound molecules on me Haken !!!!!
Been playing a lot of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom lately and sometimes this piano interlude reminds me of this song in particular. Glad fauna brought me back into this band.
As a huge fan of DT and other big prog bands, I totally agree with everything you said. I wish Haken the best of luck and that they reach the success they deserve!
Not sure why virtually every comment on this is to do with dream theatre when it's haken you're listening to but hey this is an awesome song. Charlie you've done an awesome job with the guitar in this and well done to the rest of the band, amazing songwriting. looking forwards to hearing the rest of the album :) Peace -Seamus
I love when the bass is high in the mix :D
Lol
Pretty weird to see a comment by Conner here now that he's been in the band for like 6 years :D
I love when you're in the band

My first Haken song too. I was mind-blown.
Totally agree

These guys are one of the best things to happen to prog metal in the last decade.
Hearts will burn come what may
With lessons learned along the way
To free myself I make a choice
Just to be heard I lose my voice
Finding strength in solitude
I fight to fly with much to prove
Is this the way it's meant to be?
I risk it all I will not fall
Carry the weight of the world
On my shoulders
Rise to the challenge I set myself
Salvation waits without reprieve
I'm on a razor's edge and it cuts my feet
As good as life will ever get
I wish that I could give it up and go home
"The blood drawn from the Atlas Stone
It draws a path from hell to home"
Fight to survive
Succumb to the path
Conquer the fear and nothing will fail
The quest to define this strunggle of mine
Gravity defied
I climb beyond heights
Carry the weight of the world
On my shoulders
Rise to the challenge I set myself
Shadows of doubt creep into the light
A glimmer of hope never out of sight
Out of sight
Paralyzed under supressive fire
Holding firm against a thin red line
Out of mind
Shadows of doubt creep into the light
A glimmer of hope never out of sight
Out of sight
Paralyzed under supressive fire
Holding firm against a thin red line
Out of mind
Carry the weight of the world
Rise to the challenge I set myself
Carry the weight of the world
On my shoulders
Rise to the challenge I set myself

I cant press the "Like" enough times. I love these guys music. Long Live Prog.
Just make sure you press the Like button an odd number of times (it is prog after all...), since pressing it an even number of times will just cancel out the like. And we don't want that now, do we?
The drumbreak at 6:39 and the chorus at 6:48 gives me the chills EVERY fucking time!! Love this song, and this band! :D
Yea 6:48 is huge, also gives me chills
So articulated...Awesome...I hear classic hints of Yes & Rush... Very powerful & emotional
The most creative prog metal band of the last years and, probably, the future leader of this genre. These guys are amazing, just like "Atlas Stone"!
An extraordinary album. The Mountain is up there with many of the classic era prog rock albums IMO. I'm an old timer, with a love for the glory days, but Haken have totally hooked me and reeled me in! Thankyou Haken!!
One of my favourite songs ever and haken never played live in all the shows i've been to. Guys please add it again to your setlist please
still waiting fro haken to add this track again to their setlist :/
One of the few newer bands that have made me start believing we haven’t lost what we found in the explosion of goodness in music in the early seventies. Anyone reading this that really enjoys Haken and hasn’t yet experienced Yes… you’re welcome and enjoy. :)
Yes, Gentle Giant, Queensryche, and many others.
And if you're starting on Yes, I recommend the Gates of Delirium
another excellent song. These guys are the best progmetal has to offer at the moment. They haven't put a foot wrong so far. Very impressive stuff
I love the coherence of this song. It's a very important thing for me, and at my eyes not really constant in Prog music.
The verse has a very Yes tone to it, and the theme does linger. I'm a big yes fan, and I like this a lot.
Also carries the time signature and riff structure from Gates of delirium battle section. Brilliant. Best new prog I've heard in ages!
God finally a band that isnt another djent copy. This is fresher than febreze.
Finally some actual prog. :P I really like me some djent too, but it really has nothing to do with prog. I really wonder why so many people call it that.
Todesnuss I think just because periphery IS actual prog and then people just thought that sounding like periphery makes them prog. haha
+Iridescent Noise haha so true
Periphery aren't the definition of djent. Meshuggah is
Now they are a copy too 😆
This is something so perfect that everyone in the world should ear it.
My heart was crushed when Tom Maclean said this was his last project with Haken, anyway keep going guys you were, are and will always be amazing.
NEED MOOOOOOOREEEEEE... NO WORDS TO EXPLAIN FEELINGS... AMAZING... THAKS GUYS FOR THE WORK... HAKEN FAN FOREVER
This is one of the more powerful songs that ever created, very strong lyrics!

I know, right? Haken is the perfect band. Period.
AchaiusEstalius this song? let me make a try with four words: "epic prog bossa nova"
7 years later, Nightingale gives me the same goosebumps
4:36 to 5:10 is the best an the beautiest part you´ve ever made. Congrats guys!
Sometimes when I listen to Haken's new album, I think there's a litle bit of Steven Wilson hiding in the harmony!!! Great band!!! Keep up the excellent prog music!!!
just amazing. Really, wow. I hope the whole album will be in the quality of this track, it's a masterpiece.
Easily Haken's best work. I love a variety of music but among all genres this is one of the best things ever composed and recorded.
GRACIAS TOTALES
Progasmic!
Oh I haven't forgotten :) My list for all of the great 2013 releases would be quite long; much longer than any of these comments so far! It's been a fantastic year for ProgMetal, and will continue to be by the looks/sound of it!
This is the single one song that got me into Haken. I love everything about this track.
I love the jazzy section it’s just clever, idea after idea pouring through the music. Awesome.

@Houston Travis definitely, have been using Instaflixxer for months myself =)
😯 Du bist hier? Hammergeil.🤘😁
Cool 11/8 intro.
pretty much the whole song is in 11/8, with only a few parts in 6/4 and 9/8
21/16, Neil.
You will never find a 21/8 or 20/8, u must to listen the subdivisions.
I never understand how people can count like that I can barely keep time in 4/4
@@Cotramjoxxx man, that's not exactly true. For example there are many songs in 6/8, but also in 3/4
The synths in this really harken back to old school Prog Rock. Nice touch with the modern prog sound.
I love how prog bands are starting to use choir vocals more and more. It's the most beautiful thing I could imagine for this style of music.
A great song and a great inspiration for bands like ours in their creative process. Grateful and looking forward to seeing you in Seville (Spain)
yes...and I already love the new songs. Can't wait to buy the new album!!!
awesome band. like someone else wrote on another song "discovered this band 10 minutes ago and im already a fan".
Brilliant work, great piece of music. Actually one of most interesting prog metal bands. Waiting for album!
Cet album est pour moi un petit chef d'œuvre !
"Visions" was light and colorful like a butterfly, musically speaking. I hope this new effort will keep the track
0:19 *Haken from the album
haha haha
there is no words can describe how i love Haken. Thank u so much for ur music.
Listening to this song might just be the best way I’ve found of coping with the quarantine
+1

It's so weird, in the best way possible. Great sound!
This guy is so cool he listens to all of his favorite bands simultaneously.
Inspiring stuff. Very glad I found this.
Wow, a really tasteful comment!! Your words make more sense than mine, for sure.
Been playing a lot of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom lately and sometimes this piano interlude reminds me of this song in particular. Glad fauna brought me back into this band.
Superb stuff, can't wait to hear the rest of the album!
plenty of light in this track, elegant and somehow cheerful!
Music is not a competition. Both albums are guaranteed to be awesome.
Oh yea, I forgot all about that one! Excellent song and I'm sure your dad was proud to have it played for his funeral!
One of the best intros by one of the best bands in one of their best songs.
love it, so many styles and tricks in one song, need check the others...
As a huge fan of DT and other big prog bands, I totally agree with everything you said.

Le rock progressif n"est pas mort avec les années soixante dix comme je l'ai longtemps crut. Heureuse nouvelle!
Very nice song......
really can see HAKEN being amongst the best progressive metal bands in future
Its sad, since DT was my favorite band for a long time, but I agree with you! So awesome :)
best track from haken until now.
Crazy song, and that jazzy solo is nuts guys !
Never could get into Haken nor get the hype, but the break at 4:36 is one of the greatest moments in music. So f-in epic.
Holly cow, what am i listening to!!?? this is amazing, must get out of the rock ive been living under!!!
That progressive jazzy section is so Yes-Relayer style
another day started with this masterpiece!
+400th comment
Released on my birthday!
okay, this album is definitely pre-ordered by now
Excellent! I love the little interlude that starts at 2:23
I just can't stop listening to this gift from gods.
Lots of DT comparisons but if anything, I'm reminded of Fair to Midland.
Now I will create a new word to describe this track: WTFS (WhaT a Fantastic Song)
Amasing!!!! This is epic, can't wait to hear the rest!!! Till then, I am breathless.... :)
I've probably listened to this song like 30 times now
This is one of my favorite songs of 2010s
Excellent, enfin de la vraie prog
Thanks ross and Brothers
Haken can top that easily. Their songwriting is just so much better.
Impressive, I don't know if it's just the fact that it's new, but I like this song more than any song in the past album.
brilliant, a bag of fresh air
Amazing sound !
OMG im downloading this, but as soon as ill have some money ill buy this awesome epic album
Absofeckinlutely fantastic! :-)
The second song is out!!
Pareidolia!!!
Such a great year for Prog. Also "Brief Nocturnes and Dreamless Sleep" by Spock's Beard was brilliant
Everyone seems to forget Leprous. Coal wasn't only one of my favorite albums of this year, it's one of my favorite albums *ever*.
6:23...... SO BEAUTIFUL !!!
Man, do I love this band!
Rush,Dream theater and now Haken..... yeahhhh, prog rulez!!!!!!!great band!!!!
All the appeciations to the song are worthy of it. Can someone figure out the exact time-signatures at different parts and the keys too?
oh my... smitten once again...
That piano intro....
beautiful song
My god this is good.
Potentially best album of the year.
Cool song.
Funk I need this album
Finally! So good!
