COMMENTS:
William Petersen was born in Evanston, Illinois, and first discovered acting while on a football scholarship at Idaho State University. He later studied acting in Spain.
Petersen, who has a distinguished background in film, theater and television, came to the attention of audiences worldwide when he took the role of Gil Grissom, the lead investigator on CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in 2000. Petersen received a Golden Globe Award nomination in 2003 for his role and while he departed from the series this past January 2009, he remains an executive producer.
His television credits include Long Gone, The Rat Pack, the Golden Globe Award winning mini-series The Kennedys of Massachusetts and The Beast.
His feature film credits include To Live and Die in L.A., Manhunter, Cousins, Young Guns II, Fear, The Contender and the films Hard Promises and Keep the Change, both of which he also produced.
In 1979, he founded the Remains Theater Ensemble in Chicago with a group of fellow actors. In 1983, Petersen starred as Jack Henry Abbott in In the Belly of the Beast which he performed at the Wisdom Bridge Theatre in Chicago, at the Edinburgh Festival and at the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, DC.
In 1996 Petersen made his Broadway debut in a revival of Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana. He has appeared in a number of regional stage productions, including most recently A Dublin Carol at the Steppenwolf Theatre in Chicago, A Streetcar Named Desire, The Time of Your Life, Glengarry Glen Ross, Fool for Love and Speed-the-Plow.
Last fall Petersen became a member of the Steppenwolf Theatre ensemble.
Audiences will next see him star in Blackbird on stage at the Victory Gardens Theatre in Chicago in the summer of 2009.

Billy SOOOO deserves his star. He should have gotten one a LONG time ago. I mean look at all the people who got one before him that hadn't been around long. I love his comments about his wife. You can see how much he loves her :)

Didn't really catch him in CSI. For me his most memorable performances were in To Live And Die In L.A., Manhunter, and you can not forget that he shot Billy The Kid in the back (Or so they said) in Young Guns II :-) Great actor!

EXACTLY!!!! Some people just can NOT understand that they are NOT they're characters on tv(which by the way Grissom doesn't like Cath THAT way, same as Billy doesn't like Marg THAT way). Billy loves his wife very much, you can tell when he talks about her. They're such a cute couple together.
It's kinda sad two films he's best known for were almost box office bombs yet now are some of the best cult classics in the video market . To Live And Die in LA and MANHUNTER are some of my favorite movies ever .

When he said that in tvguide IT WAS A JOKE LOL!! He didn't seriously MEAN IT. Only one he's gonna take to Mexico is HIS WIFE GINA, remember Gina? the woman he's HAPPILY MARRIED TOO? LOL. As for Gil and Cath? LOL!! WHAT love story? They NEVER had one. They're just GOOD FRIENDS. Thanks for the laugh.
Grissom is God. In my top 3 TV characters of all time no doubt.

Gil WILL return to Catherine, there is no doubt in my heart and soul. Their love story will NOT end like that. It's simply to painful to think otherwise.

He'll be back for the 200th episode and then periodic visits after that.

Why is everybody calling William Billy???? I LOVE CSI and William and George (most favorite episodes are Grave Danger and Gum Drops) :), they're such good actors along with all the other actors for CSI. Don't really like Laurence Fishbourne though :/. CONGRATS William, you so deserved it!!!!!!!
