In today's video, we will learn how to use the Zigzag trading strategy and the moving average with the help of an expert advisor, this strategy could be used in Forex, Stock, and commodity market.
We have previously learned and tested the Zigzag trading strategy 100 times on this channel and understand how to use the zigzag indicator in live market conditions, but what would happen if we traded this scalping strategy without looking at the news and only rely on technical analysis.
in this second part of the challenge, we add few elements to the chart in order to boost up the success rate of the setup and optimize the trading strategy.

It depends on the TF you're working on, usually the lower TF the higher would be the count

The cost ll be higher due to the number of trades we LL be having, but the best way to know the answer is backtesting
14.77% drawdown? In a previous video, 10/40 setting made only 10.66% drawdown and profit was 632.96 on EUR/USD without filtering anything.
What is the time frame for the swing high and low stop orders? i.e. last 12 hours/24 hours, etc?

Thanks, you can use MQL4 to code this EA, you just need to look at the documentation on their official website and adjust it according to the indicator your are using.

Interesting how changing from 30:/30 pips TP/SL to 10/40 pips increased the returns after 100 times from 213 to 316 pips, an increase of 48%. Drawdown was almost cut in half at the same time. By reducing your greed by 2/3rds, 30 pips down to 10, and increasing your loss tolerance by only 1/3rd, 30 pips up to 40, you improved the outcome markedly. I watched the earlier video too and it appears that you found the optimal TP/SL figures for that market, EUR/USD.
10/40 made 632 actually if you watched the previous video and only 10.66% drawdown. it's a ratio probably no trader would pick, and it made the most money with lowest drawdown.
I can see a blue dash line in 3:54 at about 1.095 and there's red dash line at about 1.083.. my guess is those lines are ZigZag value from its 'history'. The result is as expected. You need to run this EA on realtime market and share through MT4 Signal page or Myfxbook service. Problem with backtesting is all their data all provided already, thus, difficult to tell this EA can be run in realtime market. So, is my 'guess' right or wrong?
Excellent question, those lines are from the previous back-test we run on this chart, they are considered as objects and could be deleted before we run a second round. We can also close the chart and reopen it again. Unfortunately, MT4 doesn't delete the objects generated in the previous backtesting process when the visual mode is activated. You can simply ignore them for today, but we can use them for some other purposes. Maybe, we should make a video in future to show how.

Tests instead of the EMA200 with Crossover EMA20 and EMA50.
Is the EMA20 via EMA50 only Long and is the EMA20 only shorts under EMA50.

Why didn't you run your EA from 2007-2020? It's so simple with EA. Many EA strategies suffer from overoptimization when it works only certain period of time and then looses everything. This strategy looked like overoptimized.

You can learn how to build one online, there are plenty of courses out there. We do recommend one in the description box.
You can also hire someone to build it for you
You had 14 trades , at 10pips tp for each trade. Had 12 wins and assuming leverage is 1:3 therefore for each trade u made 30$ and 12 trades win equal 360$. Stop loss at 40pips means u loose $120 and 2 trades lost will bring the sum of 240$ loss. Now how much profit is left? 120$. Well not too bad nor too impressive. It takes an average of 3 days for candle sticks to hit 200ma on 1hr tf. So it will take approximately 2months to make 120$. This strategy may not be suitable for blufx traders where max leverage is 1:3 and max lot size is 0.5
That's why he said u can use a different timeframe
You really need to split the dataset into optimization and testing.
