Northumberland 250 Road Trip - Bamburgh Castle Is Too Expensive!

- Continuing our Northumberland 250 road trip we arrive in Bamburgh and have a look at the castle although we don't venture inside this time.
While we're there the dogs have a great time on the beach and Daryl tells us a traumatic tale from his childhood.
Bamburgh Castle is a stunning medieval fortress located on the northeast coast of England, overlooking the North Sea. It's known for its rich history, breathtaking views, and impressive architecture. It has stood for over 1,400 years and is one of the largest inhabited castles in the country.

That castle is quite a structure, I imagine it will still be there in many more hundred years. 👍
I'm sure it will. Especially with the amount of money they charge to look around it. They could afford to rebuild it every year 🤣
Darren was in tears all day after paying the entrance and wouldn't pay it again 😂 would have loved to go on the beach but by the time we left it was chucking it down again. Enjoyed the history as always great info.. ❤
Ridiculous prices aren't they and they have gone up again since we were there.
Shame you couldn't visit the beach, but at least you didn't lose a kite lol😀 xx

£5 and £17 this year. Lindsay went in a few years ago but I was not going in. Sorry about you traumatic loss on the beach 😉😉
Gosh. It is a ridiculous amount of money. We aren't skinflint but when you start nudging towards fifty quid for two it gets too extreme for us.
The last Kingdom was a really good show, loved it. Boat ride maybe next time Nab :o) xx

As you know Ireland as an example encourages people to get out and visit but attractions in the UK at times are a little elitist - rant over

Yes Europe and Ireland certainly have thexeight idea to encourage people to enjoy and discover heritage. Apparently Bamburgh has fone up again since we were there in October. When it gets ro nearly £50 for two of us I'm afraid they can go whistle. Imagine how many coffees and Twix's we could buy with that 😳
One of the dogs enjoyed the water, the other not so.
Have a good week. Our weekend was cut short and we have been relayed home.

What great castle. At least from the outside. It is a shame that their entrance fee is so expensive. When I was a wee tot, my first kites were made of thin balsa wood slats and newspaper. Mom would help us kids make them. They were box kites. Not very maneuverable and not very good if the wind wasn't strong and would disintegrate if the wind was too strong. We would have to run pretty hard for the kites to catch a strong breeze. I think just liked to tire us out so evenings would be less chaotic. 4 boys and one girl could get a bit energetic. ... I do hope your rugby weekend goes well. I know Daryl that you'll be walking the dogs and listening to audiobooks. All my best! Cheers!
Thanks Micky. We'll plans have changed. On our way to the rugby weekend we hit a pothole and lost power steering so currently it is almost 1.00am and we are waiting for a recovery truck to take us home.
