  • In this video I show how I made myself a simple plier rack out of some 1/4" thick plexiglass that I got for free at a storage unit clean out sale and some 1/2" wooded dowel. It's a very simple make and could be made out of any number of materials, I used what I had on hand and it turned out spectacular. The best thing about it is that as my plier collection grows I can simply buy another dowel from any big name box store for practically no cost (like $1) and extend my rack by how ever long I need. I hope this inspires you to continue making even it is just as cheap to buy!!!

    Very simple, but effective design!

Handy and simple solution. In my case i make it so that it can hang on a tool board.

I have been thinking about making one of those. Perhaps I should get around to it. Thanks for sharing.

Shaping Silver, if I could recommend something before you build your’s. Make it wider than what I made it here in my video which was 7”. Then you can fit more pliers 😉. I got some longer dowels to make mine wider after I filmed this.

@@randysmithfabrications2731 good point. I have pliers hidden away in drawers, so I'll need the space. Thanks. :-)

Yesbut. I have about three times that many pliers. Longer dowels, I guess. LOL. Thanks for sharing.

That’s what I did, I’ve extended the length of my dowels three times since I made this video as my plier collection grew. 👍

All you have to do now is make a bunch and sell them on Etsy. I'll take three please

Too easy... that’s why I made a video to show you how simple it is to make one, if you have the materials. But you don’t have to even use these particular materials I used either.

Are the bottom holes at the same side? Or is one of them more lower than the other? I want to try to make one for me. Thanks

Carmen Aviles I did offset the bottom holes a little to tilt the pliers towards me for easier removal, not sure if it makes much difference though.

I saw this!! I bought the supplies I need. I’ve never drilled through plexiglass before, any tips? From what I researched, slow and very little pressure?

Drilling through plexiglass is like drilling through butter if you have a sharp bit so make sure you have a wooden backer!

    •  2 года назад

I think you know Adam Savage channel. In one of his videos he advising to use water for cooling the drill bit when drilling through plexiglass and other plastics. Especially if you are drilling through a very thick piece.

@ I made it! No water needed

    •  2 года назад +1

@@camilafabela6098 i thought so. Because it's not that thick. But it's good to know if one needs to drill through very thick piece of plastics. Because through friction the plastic would melt and could become problematic in drilling through the piece.

    What are the dimensions?

    • @randysmithfabrications2731
      @randysmithfabrications2731  Год назад

The end plates are 4” wide by 6.75” tall made out of 0.5” thick plexiglass. The 0.5” wooden dowels I used were recently upgraded and are now 14” long because my collection of pliers has grown, which is exactly why I designed it this way.
