New York death metal pioneers SUFFOCATION released their new album ...Of The Dark Light on June 9, 2017 via Nuclear Blast Records.
...Of The Dark Light was produced by SUFFOCATION and tracked at Full Force Studios with longtime engineer Joe Cincotta (OBITUARY). Mixing and mastering was handled by world renowned producer/engineer Zeuss (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). Cover artwork was created by Colin Marks (ORIGIN, FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE, KATAKLYSM).

"The moment we have been waiting for is here, our new album ...Of The Dark Light will finally be released through Nuclear Blast on June 9, 2017! Over the last 4 year period SUFFOCATION has taken its time to write this record and we couldn't be prouder. It is our most brutal record yet!
"SUFFOCATION worked through the end of 2016 to hash out and lay down the tracks at Full Force Studios with Joe Cincotta and once again enlisted Zeuss to bring this creation to life! I'm so sick of reading comments how someone or some band is underrated. Suffo are praised and glorified woldwide for at least 20 years. What is the meaning of such statement? Go drink some beer and grow a pair of balls, dude. Suffo are underrated? Yo mama is underrated.

@@metalhead4x448 Again, that’s not true at all. Just because you haven’t seen an interview of someone else mentioning Hobbs definitely doesn’t mean he is an underrated Death Metal guitarist.
The fact that Terrance can lay down some sick riffs while wearing classic grandad glasses just adds to the legend that is Terrance Hobbs. That natural finish Warlock is also giving me some tightness in the pants region.

Suffocation always was and always will be one of my favorite death metal bands. These guys are great musicians and above many other death metal bands. They stand the test of time by staying around as long as they have been when other death metal bands from back in the day folded up. I remember seeing Suffocation back in the early '90's and saying to myself, "these guys kick some serious ass when it comes to playing death metal." And I am sorry to say, but I miss seeing Mike Smith behind the kit.
Mike smith is a légende , a master of blast beat ! Morotti are à good drummer but is note mike
same with cannibal corpse both fucking legendary.. hail death metal
Or Kevin Talley, for that matter. Those two are some of the greatest drummers death metal has seen.
A masterclass in rhythm playing.
Hell, lead too. Especially Terrance's. It's as if his fretting hand has its own brain.
That feeling when you think the first min or so is straight trem picking, and then you notice the entire song is micro gallops at light speed. Then you throw your guitar away and cry yourself to sleep.
The trickier parts have the first 2 notes of the gallop on the 5th string and the third note ends on the sixth string. It's not easy but you'd want to start each 1st note of the gallop on the down stroke and end that third gallop one string down also on a down stroke. So yeah strings skipping hertas at 200 Beats Per Minute. Good luck!

@2songs1kvlt52 I didn't notice that till you pointed it out. lol that's what I love about suffocation. The more I listen, the more I realize they are doing more than I first thought.
Practice string skipping with single notes, practice gallops (use a v pattern when strumming your gallop) then combine. Few weeks and you'll get it. Watch Hobbs strumming hand for the v pattern I'm talking about. It makes it a lot easier and saves the wrist

This is one of the best albums Suffocation has ever released. It's a very good effort they put there. I listen to it every day!

That was my first thought too, Errigo is solid but man, put just about anyone next to Terrance and they will basically never seem as clean.
Only two that right off the bat I can think of are Pat Obrien and maybe Jaremy from Origin and Unmerciful. Doug Cerrito and Guy definitely were on the same level (duh being Suffocation guys).
Imagine how fast Terrance must be able to snap one out.

Since the 80s I've always wondered why all the radio stations wont give any of these bands radio exposure. How come theres no stations that just play music like this???? At least in oklahoma theres none.

Terrence is arguably the cleanest death metal guitarist ever recorded. I mean, there's a few on that list, but he is top or at least near the top. Very clean. fast too.

That's correct. The bar needs to be screwed in tight and just a light tap will make that flutter. If the bar is too loose, it will swing around in it's socket and not make the bridge flutter.

When I first heard Suffo (the album effigy of the forgotten) I was like............ DEAR GOD! These guys are music OGs. I always wondered what tuning they use I think it's C standard but I could be wrong.
C standard on the early stuff but C sharp ever since Breeding The Spawn or Pierced From Within
This is a sick album. Don't believe the reviews. You make your decision. That's what being a metal head all about. Effigy is very good, sadly the production is too muddy. Pierce is much better production.

Hobbs isn’t given enough credit for the role he played in paving the way for technical and brutal death metal guitar playing. His technique and ear for melody is second to none. I’ve had the please of meeting him before a show and he’s the most laid back guy
