    Welcome to the Utah BDR! Red rock and sand as far as the eye can see, rock formations the likes of which you'll never see anywhere else.
    "The route officially starts just east of the town in the famed Valley of the Gods, site of legendary western movies and iconic sandstone towers-a dazzling display of pastel hues painted by the rising sun will surely motivate you to get up and out early. Once you rejoin the pavement, a brief ride up the Moki Dugway ushers you east onto Snow Flat Road and eventually north up Butler wash. Fuel up in Blanding to prepare for the Abajo Mountains stretch."
    Hello!
    I'm Brady, AKA Mountainman, I've been a soldier, ski bum, police officer, government worker, photographer, and all around nomad. Now I travel on my motorcycle, make videos, and share them with the world. Along the way I do dumb stuff off road, camp, fly drones, take pictures, learn about culture and history and do my best to take you with me.
    In early 2022 I set off on my motorcycle Yennefer (2021 Tenere 700) for an adventure with no set destination or timeline. Come along with me and let’s see what will happen as I try to ride until I can't.
    Bike: Yamaha Tenere 700
    Luggage: Kriega OS and Enduristan 4H
    Navigation: Carpe Iter Tablet and Drive Mode Dashboard 2
    Cameras: Sony A7C, GoPro Hero 8, GoPro Max, GoPro Hero 7, GoPro Session 5, Skydio 2
    Gear: Adventure Spec Jacket/Pants/Base Layers, Alpinestars Toucan boots, Arai XD4, Revit gloves.

    Local here! New to off roading and the UTBDR is one of my goals! I might add, that was one of the most cushy and graceful spills I have seen! I am loving the content!

    Probably one of your most scenic videos you ever made. The drone reveals the vastness of the valley. Great editing job. Thank you. Ride safe.

    "That section was garbage' ... yep. Most desert tracks have a very narrow window in that they are either too wet or too dry.

    Awesome as always. Love the editing. I definitely gotta do the UTBDR. Loved Moab when I did the TAT and you’re not kidding about slick rock being grippy and slippery found that out first day. Looking forward to watching day 2.

    Sub'd. Great video. I am headed to Moab, Shafer trail, Valley of The Gods, etc in two weeks. Your video helped me know where to avoid! :). Trying to stay on easy rides and avoid sand.

    Nice video. I’m hoping to do the southern part of the Utah BDR soon. Of done a couple of sections of the northern part of the BDR. I notice you have the same setup as me with a GoPro and the MediaMod with an internal helmet mic hooked up. I noticed your video resolution looks great which sometimes is a trick with RUclips. I shoot in 2.7K on my GoPro with 30 FPS. What settings are you rendering at before uploading to RUclips? Thanks for the video!

    • @MeerkatADV

      I shoot and render at 1080p60.

    About to ride the UTBDR in a couple of weeks. What do you do to keep your drone safe from all the bumps and shocks of the rough road?

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  2 месяца назад

      I use a case, and keep it either in my tank bag or tailbag so I can't fall on it.

    Great Ride and Video! What settings are your GoPros set at?

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  2 месяца назад +1

      1080p60, high bitrate, high sharpness, gopro color. I do some post processing as well but that depends on what you're using for editing.

      @MeerkatADV Thanks for the reply. I started my own channel and used a GoPro Hero 3+ Silver. That GoPro has poor stabilization. I am now shooting with two Hero 11 Blacks. I had the setting on 5.3k @ 60fps but it doesn't look like yours. After some research, I think I'm going to try Standard 2.7k @ 120fps 4:3 Wide on my POV and Ultra Slow Mo 2.7k 4:3 120fps L+Horizon Lock. Both set at highest video quality and both with Hypersmooth Auto Boost on. I also have a DJI Mini Pro 4 that im learning to use. Wish me luck.

    Do you think the sand is passable with an aired-down to 10 psi Sprinter?

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  2 месяца назад

      @camptaji901 with 4x4 probably. Just depends on driver skill and weight of the vehicle at that point.

    Question, so I am trying to decide between the UTBDR and the NMBDR. Riding two up with the wife, so the focus is more on scenery and seeing cool stuff the finding off road challenges. Any advice on deciding between the two?

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  6 месяцев назад +1

      Utah is pretty, but has some legitimate technical challenges. NM has some very pretty areas, but no major difficult areas (some short parts of sand which you could bypass pretty easily). If you're just looking for an enjoyable ride 2-up I would definitely lean more towards NM. Expect some difficulty, 2-up off road is hard. But should be a fun trip.

    • @StravaigADV
      @StravaigADV 6 месяцев назад

      @@MeerkatADV thanks! I’ve seen the technical stuff, the sand is more of a question for me. I’ve done a lot of ADVing, but not in sand!

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  6 месяцев назад

      There is more sand in Utah than NM. 2-up creates its own challenges.

      @@MeerkatADV amen to the frustrating part. My GoPro Hero 8 locks up all the time. I think it may be due to using the Quick Capture feature. I just ordered an Insta360 ONE RS.

    What visor are you using on your windshield, and does it help with wind buffeting? Nice content btw 👍

    • @MeerkatADV
      @MeerkatADV  2 года назад +1

      Puig clip on windscreen, helps with buffeting but mostly helps with audio while on the bike.

    Bummer, your shortcut to Blanding cut out the section through the Manti-La Sal NF. It's an amazing transition into a totally different landscape, unlike anything else you do in section 1.

      Didn't have a choice as it turns out. The road along Johnson Creed Rd and North Creek Pass was closed for construction or something. Found out from some others who tried to get through there around the same time.
