Presently. Its a subsidiary of Eicher Group, India. It was just a brand under the company ‘The Enfield Cycle Company Limited’, a British company with its first motorcycle manufactured in 1901. In the year 1955, they partnered with Madras Motors in India and formed “Enfield India”. Later, in 1967 the Redditch factory in England was shutdown. But Enfield India continued making the ‘Bullet’ and started branding it Royal Enfield since 1999. In 1990, The Enfield India company collaborated with another Indian company Eicher group, which is the parent company of the present day ‘Royal enfield’. Well, some of it's models like continental,GT aren't indian,but yet sell under indian company tag... So, conclusion is,once it was a british company without any doubt but now it's a fully indian brand runs under Eicher group...
