And yet that comment intrigues me. Live performance better than original recordings ? How does that work ? The original is what it is, live performance is deviating by means of mixing so your comment is ridiculous. Muppet

My wife’s era and her favourite Level 42 song. She went to see them live in Harrogate in 2002 for her 30th birthday present to herself! I would have gone and enjoyed this brilliant polished performance , but I didn’t meet her until the year after😢
And How good is Their back catalogue? I mean I know some of Us bemoan the change to pop but every song pretty much is cracking live! What a brilliant band of musicians regardless of line up ( yes the original Fab 4 were the best though).
I just rediscovered this track when I grabbed an old CD out of a box of junk to play in my run around car. It had no cover and was scratched but this track played almost all the way. I bought the album Runnung in the Family when it came out but never synced with this song. Decades and 2 marriages later it has so much meaning to me now and is my favourite song and this live performance is truely outstanding...
Running in the Family was one of the first CDs my Dad bought we got a CD player. I grew up listening to this album. I took the CD and never returned it.
The best of the best from the 80s... they have forged that generation with good music and song... we don't have something alike anymore... that's why they stay on top 👍
This is the one of the very best break up songs all time! If not the very best...to me top 3 ...most likely #1! This is what British bands...especially English bands can do! It's very brutally honest, raw , yet tender ...it really tears you apart!!! AND THE drummer here delivered an amazingly emotionally & TECHNICALLY perfect job! If any skillful drummer can contribute to perform a great ballad like this also....then he's so PRECIOUS!!! And the band is golden ...solid gold!
@@laartwork I'll check the song ,too later! Thanx!Another best break up song all time is " I'm still in love with you" by thin lizzy! Those two are my most favorites all time ! Really hard to say which one, both make me cry like a baby to this day!!! So emotional& painful & beautiful!!!
This song reminds me of my parents break up every time I hear it. They broke up in the 80’s right around the time this album came out. They literally left each other letters in the hallway of our apartment. Amazing that a song can bring you back to a moment of time in an instant. Level 42 was such an amazing band!
Ben Winkel not at all ! Boon is still alive ! I spoke with Phil Gould recently ! Everybody are making confusion with the guy who played after Boon and Phil’s departure and who quickly died for aids ! Boon has recently joined his brother Phil when they were invited to play a few songs as special guests ! After leaving the group, Boon wanted to return in a quiest life and disappeared from all social network ! Phil kept contact with the human’ s being ! He has his own fb page ànd made his own LP with Mike Lindup ! Boon didn’t play on.any track but Phill told me his brother was hugely alive and happy !
Yes,it's very sad! And he was still way young to go! And it seems that nobody disclose the cause of his death.Level 42 always have awesome drummers!P.S. What I meant here was just to say that they do have very good drummers ,simply ! But, ss somebody pointed it out ,it looks like I was saying if the drummer / the brother passed away ! Sorry ,if I freaked out anyone !💜👍😅
And this is part reason why I came to live on the Isle of Wight, any place that gave its musicians the gift of writing such a wonderful ballad, must be a place worthy to live, and it turned out to be correct.
Like the sands of time echoing in eternity, this song somehow has more meaning and gets better as it gets older. A timeless classic for us all to reflect and wish we could find our way back in those uncomplicated days x
I was introduced to Level42 by a friend in 1986 Fantastic music, superb live & Mark King a really nice guy who makes time for the people who support the music
Aside from the incredible musicianship and arrangement of this song, this is the only breakup song from a man's perspective that tells the sad truth. The guilt he feels, the fear for the one he leaves, the harsh reality of having to hurt someone he loved, the final realization that whatever he had with her is forever gone, and having to finally admit to himself that It's Over.
