Exactly. If someone is bound and gagged, give them something to hold onto. If they drop it, that's their safeword. They should have negotiated some kind of sign with her before she was submerged. Fun fact, The Blair Witch Project was shot in real life, the actors were given a basic script of the movie and camped in the woods with nothing but an Hi8 camcorder and camping gear. Also all the lines in the movie were improvised as no lines were given except for the beginning interview
I also read that the producers would do things to mess with the actors, like rustle the tents, or put up scary things to make their reactions more believable.
I had already heard most of these, growing up in the early 1970's my mom used to read all those check-out line news rags like The Enquirer and the others, I knew most stories were made up rumors but I was surprised to learn some of the weirdest, most unbelievable ones were actually true. I loved the scene in Men in Black where they got lots of leads from them. 🤣
I don't know how tall she was at the time (she's 5" 2' now), but in Lemony Snicket, Emily Browning had to wear heels because she was so short. That scene in the first Resident Evil movie, where Alice checks her shoulder and finds bruises, are real bruises. Milla hurt herself doing a few stunts, so they left it in to use for the shower scene.
Better think twice before making that claim. They did not know of the dangers of asbestos back then. They thought it was safe. You could end up in the same kind of situation and not know about it until much later!!
Some awful things were done by the directors of the series Stranger Things. Google it. Exhaustion, shaming, making one of the female leads kiss another actor despite her saying no, injuries. The kids were just so excited about being in a successful series, they just shrugged off what sometimes amounted to real abuse. The directors actually laughed about that kiss and other incidents in an interview with the cast that I saw on RUclips. The girl who had the kissing scene said she was so anxious about her FIRST KISS being during filming this show. One of the directors laughed and said, "That's why we made you do it, ha ha ha." They struck me as self-centered creeps.

did it tho? i have always wanted to watch a film based on this story but knowing when and how this one was filmed made me shiver back then when i found out (and it still does) and i haven't watched it ever as a result🤷i wonder now if there's an alternative version because i loved reading this story and listening to mom's reading it to me when i was a child
horror came after the fact, so is it good?
Or are we just mere entertain and don't care at what price.
@@zarudegaming4427year, when Tin man sings, at the end, you can see somebody jump to their death being hanged... (I think they jumped off the roof of the cabin- but it's been a long time since I saw it).
What I want to know is, why did they use real locks on the tank for Isla’s stunt? They could have attached the chains on her wrists to Nothing(!), and the locks on the lid didn’t have to actually lock. If something went wrong, which it did, she could have instantly bailed. And they could have used a safeword signal to get her out.
i think part of it is that its an authentic magic trick. but that doesnt excuse doing it for the views.
It's so sad what actors went through just to make a good movie. Thank goodness we're more aware of these dangers now
When making Noah's Ark, a 1928 movie, the director had the crew actually flood a set. Three people were killed.
@@usmh that's crazy. Thanks for the info
More aware of hiding them.....
@@stocksconfidential8862 actually for certain things, you are definitely right about that unfortunately
Ya but you can say that about any industry. Safety evolves and will continue to do so.

MAN!
The Wizard of Oz had so many production problems!
The first guy who played the Tin woodsman had to quit because his makeup made it so he couldn't breathe, the lady who played the Wicked witch of the west got her face burned becaue of her makeup and a badly timed explosion!
And now I find out that the snow was made of ASBESTOS?!

Yes and after Dorothy regained consciousness, at the end, she realized it was all a dream and never got paid.
In “The Exorcist”, Linda Blair was strapped to a bed that would shake frequently to make the iconic demonic movements. But the rapid force fractured her spine, which means the screams of terror where *real.*
Ouch! Poor girl 😮
I believe that she still has back problems to this day.

I've always heard that life as a Hollywood Star is a dangerous one
Wasn't there a recent case with a firearm with real rounds instead of blanks? One killed? Has been on the news, but I forgot about the details.

Little archeologist's room! Spectacular!
Speaking of Star Wars props, it's pretty well known that the communicator Quigonn used in Episode 1 was a handle from a ladies shaving razor.
I've heard of some of these before, but not all of them. You learn something new every day
Same here. Wow I feel bad for the actor in "Candyman".. I would
have asked for another role, but he probably needed the money.
For "The Conqueror," there is a video that did a deep dive into whether or not radiation was to blame for the deaths. It found that the ages and cancers that people died were of a normal percentage for the time. Especially for people like John Wayne who smoked cigars and drank alcohol much more than was considered normal for even that time. I can find a link to the video and post it here, if anyone is interested in the breakdown.
IIRC it's one of the DEBUNKED videos.
I enjoy this video very much then
The cat in The Godfather wandered onto the set while they were about to shoot. Brando picked it up and started petting it while the scene was being shot.
I still crack up at that Indiana Jones "Bring a sword to a gunfight" scene...So funny...
Right up there with Dirty Harry "Do you feel lucky, punk?" scene...
it always seemed like a cop out that he just shot him.I thought they were just trimming the budget some. In a couple more years that will be looked at as promoting that "winner take all at any cost" Imperialist curse upon humanity ...I mean what is Indy doing but STEALING a foreign nation's artifacts for his own enrichment. Labeled as "archaeology". Did you know that there are more of "Cleopatra's Needles" decorating European Cities than there are in Egypt?? Whenever you see these relics in another Country they are STOLEN by white Imperialists.
The first, so called, found footage film was Cannibal Holocaust.
It was banned in the UK for being too graphic.
Although it was edited to get an “18” after a few cuts amounting to 3-4 minutes at first, later it was only 49 seconds.
I'm glad Buddy Ebsen recovered from inhaling the aluminium powder in the Wizard of Oz and it didn'tput him off acting.....much later in life he played Uncle Jed Clampett in The Beverly Hillbillies.
and barnaby Jones
One of the first notable "found-footage" movies ever made, if not the actual first, was Cannibal Holocaust from 1980. The Blair Witch producers took the idea from that movie. And it is way more horrifying than The Blair Witch. It is considered one of the most brutal and unsettling movies ever made.
Didn't the people who made Cannibal Holocaust have to prove it was just a scripted movie to avoid being charged with crimes? People actually thought the killings depicted were real.
dunno if it's true but it is rumored that the director had to show the cast to a court in order to prove they were still alive
@@KaosKrusher That's what I read too.
@@KaosKrusher
It is true, He was facing many charges for their deaths. That's why the producers of Blair Witch made their cast hide. They were trying to achieve the same outcome and controversy for their protect, but it wasn't as impactful as the Cannibal Holocaust.
@@venusknowme1743 Well.... there is obviously more impact if you see their death (i assume the viewers seen the cast "being eaten" in that 1980 movie) while in Blair Witch they was just vanished (i assume).
Fun fact: The movie [•REC] from 2007 never had a full script. Most of the acting was actually on the actor’s genuine reactions. Another thing was they were trying to have the actors as real as possible. Manuela Velasco which played Ángela Vidal which is shown in the screen as the woman in the white tank top, is also a TV reporter.
People once thought one of the Munchkins hung himself on the set of The Wizard of Oz, and you could see him as the Scarecrow, the Tin Man and Dorothy exit the scene. Thankfully, it was a hoax.
Yeah it’s a large bird and obviously so. People just want it to be a real person for some reason
They also treated Judy Garland pretty bad too. She only ate chicken soup and smoked cigs supposedly.
It wasn’t a hoax. There really is a body or something hanging

Star Trek was famous for repurposing everyday objects, for instance one of Dr. McCoy’s instruments was a salt or pepper shaker.
The original transporter was a glass with water and sparkles in it that was stirred lol
3:26 The cat wandered in, I thought. Brando just picked it up.
The way I heard it, a crew member found the cat and gave it to him, because he knew Marlon loved cats. They also almost had to re-shoot, because of how loud the cat purred.

Hollywood is so odd
ODDLYWOOD
A lot of more conservative people have left Hollywood and go back only to produce movies and then leave.
It’s never what it seems; everything’s an illusion or outright lies. I never even knew about the Blair Witch movie until now, but that was absolutely insane for them to put it on the news and make the public genuinely believe that it was real.
i make props for small budget movies and stage productions in my spare time for cheap. Cardboard, bits of wood plastic things and whatever I have laying around become everything from futuristic guns to anything the writer can think of,

20:11 - take a lesson from the BDSM Crowd. Use a safe word or safe sign. When an actor is stuck unable to communicate vocally they need a hand signal to show they're in danger. 😁
Exactly. If someone is bound and gagged, give them something to hold onto. If they drop it, that's their safeword. They should have negotiated some kind of sign with her before she was submerged. Their big mistake was assuming the instant-drain switch would (a) function and (b) be reachable. In a life-critical situation, never let there be a single point of failure.

😮each time Be Amazed uploads, it makes my day better.
Boy do I miss the days when tabloids were only $1 in the 90's.
07:27 'exasperated'? I think you meant 'exacerbated' lol. Good video, though. 😁
As a small time film maker, I find it revolting for directors to put their actors in harm's way. Something I never have, or will do.

The cat was living on the studio lot. FFC thought it would make an interesting contrast to the very serious scene showing the "softer side" of Don Vito. Brando was an avid animal lover and was delighted to share the spotlight with kitty. I think the cat steals the scene! xoxo
Brando: “Real people don’t recite from a script having a conversation…it’s unnatural”
Real People: “They don’t read from cue cards in a conversation either.” 😂🙄
I have to tell you something: I have watched videos by myriad RUclipsrs who often show a variety of interesting clips in every video, much like you do. Speaking as a published writer, however, I have made it a personal policy to never subscribe to these channels because the RUclipsrs do not know how to write or use the English language ... AT ALL! When they write crap (which they often do), I refuse to subscribe. This is why I am Amazed by "Be Amazed" because the writer or writers KNOW how to write. They (assuming there's more than one writer) understand how English works, and they use it well. That is why, after watching this particular video and having been impressed by the writing for several videos before this one, I am subscribing to "Be Amazed." I doubt that I'll watch all of your videos, but I've already seen enough to know that when I do watch one of yours, I won't be tortured by ungrammatical expressions of every sort. You have my thanks.

The "everyday items" section, such as the microphone toy repainted to be grenades, could have an entire video.
