I have the exact same chair, bought for around £600 on eBay. these replicas are all from the same place in china (that's why the packaging is so basic) so paying anything above that is purely marketing and a fancy website. When I bought it is had a slight glue mark on the leather, this did clean off easily but was offered £100 refund as well which was surprising good customer service! Overall I think the quality is really good for the price, one thing worth noting is that there is a 'large' version available, I wish I bought this as the original sized one was designed when people were much small than today, but with a cushion under the back its fine.
I do wonder what this chair will be like after 10/20 years of use and if it can be serviced. The advantage of buying a design classic is not so much bragging rights but that they are still in production so you can get spare parts even after decades and find people who know how to restore or maintain them. However, that doesn't necessarily make a replica a bad choice. I myself am very happy with a Eames molded plastic wire chair that cost me about 100 new.
I agree; I'd also been keen to see what's it's like after 10 years. I have no doubt the Herman Millers will last much longer, and like you say that's one of their big advantages.
I love the mid-century aesthetic. That is one gorgeous chair. How is the breathability of the leather? I sometimes fear leather can feel sticky or hot and thus lead to discomfort after long periods--even faux leather materials.
you are correct. genuine leather is pretty low on the leather hierarchy. EDIT: website quotes it as "Top-Grain Leather", which is up there. the tuber misspoke when he called it genuine.
Thanks for clarifying this! You're correct! When I said genuine I was trying to say it wasn't faux leather. I wasn't referencing the type of leather. :)
@@NickKendall I was more so just surprised at that price tag they’re going for a lower quality leather. I wonder how the durability of this would be. It’s a gorgeous chair though.
You sold me on style but the benefits and features you said about this chaircan be said for many chairs of a much lower price point. whats unique to this chair that justifies such a high cost outside of thinking it looks cool? Sell the chair
Yes it is! I got the Sohnne replica a few days ago and am extremely happy with the chair.
Great to hear! :)
I got the same. Is it me or isn’t it the most ergonomically best chair? Haha
How does the chair compare to IMUS? I hope the IMUS version isn’t better, as I’ve ordered the one from SOHNNE.
You look very tall in the chair. How tall are you for comparison? I’m 6’3” and wondering how I would fit.
Great question, I'm 6'1". Hope that helps!
@@NickKendall Thanks

Thanks for sharing that experience! I'm definitely glad I got the larger version!

It's looks great hey! Breathability feels good to me so far; haven't found it to be sticky or hot even over long periods of time :)
I hope you will eventually get a real one soon if you enjoy it. It is discrediting to your authenticity as a person imo but to each their own.
Genuinely leather isn’t high quality leather though? It’s one of the worst to my knowledge is it not? That won’t last long in that case.
