I did my own little comparison and I have to say that overall the shadows are softer the shattereds feel more luxurious like it’s a different type of leather and feels almost thicker to the touch than any other 1. It’s just all up to interpretation on how you judge quality leather.
FineLine 1721 I doubled up and got 1 butter pair and 1 boof pair. My keepers had an earlier production date - I think the later pairs used cheap leftover materials. But even my quality pair doesn't look as buttery as your keepers. I wanna know how many pairs you went through.

My thing is with the shattered backboards, the quality was consistent. With the bred, royals, can’t speak about the shadows yet but the quality was everywhere feel me. I hope they all come like that tho forreal . Your pair shits on them boards bro.
Not to cut you off lol ......but softer leather doesn't necessarily determine whether the leather is of better quality. I've been working with textiles for over 5 years now. What Jordan brand does, is they really use a lot of the same leathers on ALL of the shoes of the same number. Some panels are mid quality, and some of it is lower quality. The main difference is really in the layer of sheen/resolene that is used on the dyed leather. They usually put a certain amount of coating over it to protect the leather from fading over time or becoming easily damaged (since they are shoes and are meant to be worn a lot more than other leather products). The only real way to see the QUALITY of leather is if you cut the leather and see the layers of grain that it is cut from. Full grain leather is the highest quality and usually have a tighter, smoother surface... and is usually a lot thicker than other leathers. It comes from younger calfs, as opposed to older cows... so the skin is in much better condition since the cow hide hasn't endured as much exposure/damage as an older cows would have. Full grain is top quality, Top grain leather is medium quality leather, and then there are genuine quality leathers (or suede) that is on the lower end quality of leather. Pretty much all of the Jordan 1's use the exact same leather quality on all of the panels, however, they use different amounts of sheen to protect each layer. If you look at a lot of the 1985 pairs of Jordans, you would probably notice that the collar of the shoe (the part that wraps around the ankle), tends to have more damage than the rest of the shoe. That is partly why they use a higher amount of sheen protection for that portion of the leather. Black also tends to show more fading which is why they use higher amounts of sheen on that color of dyed leather. Tumbled leather also doesn't show the quality of the leather. Tumbled leather is usually made from Top grain leather, which is second in quality as I've said before. The tumbled look shows a lot more because the cut of leather is thinner than Full grain leather would be. I appreciate you showing the differences in how it looks and the response it has to touch, but I just thought I'd give you guys some information on where the "quality" actually comes from. The truth of the matter is...... most Jordan's really don't have any significant difference in quality of leather. So we can all jump off the whole "quality" train unless we're talking about some of the major collaboration drops. But, even a lot of those use the exact same quality of leather as the other ones lol

People need to stop trying to dethrone the SBB...it is what it is and SBB is still better in my opinion ... I have SBB, Royals, Breds, Bred toe, Chicagos and still I'm taking SBB... I dont know about other people pairs but I feel the SBB leather is also a bit more thicker cut. Especial the orange part on the upper ankle... this is a debate that will never end and all I have to say is let's see what shadows do as far as resell in the future...because SBB is more than triple the retail now and I don't see shadows reaching that mark, at least not as fast

I tried the Shadow in a store the other day... IDK did not like it... so I tried the City of Flight and it fit very well, so I ended up getting the city of flight...
I just did the press and hold on the sails...same and if not better results...sails are better than sbb's and maybe these too...will update when i get my pair of shadows

Just like how you pulled out 2 pairs, there’s no doubt different materials were used on this release. Not completely different, but it’s not consistent. I copped a pair from unbreakable which came from footaction, and I was able to cop from Nike app. The one from unbreakable is almost similar to the bred 1 and royal 1 quality. Just a tad bit softer. The one from Nike however, is similar to your personal pair.
leather varies from pair to pair since all of these joints are mass produced . my shadows came straight from nike and my leather doesn't look anything like your leather . your leather is super wrinkled . you got a really good batch shadow pair . As far as my shattered backboards are concerned i got a really good batch pair and they definitely better than my shadows .
if its too soft its bad because the shoe won't hold up good especially for basketball or walking a lot Soft leather creases easily,and over time the front sole come out
