Veteran War Thunder players know all too well how powerful Britain's Falcon anti-air vehicle is. Though lacking in armor and mobility, the Falcon makes up for it in sheer firepower. Two 30mm cannons don't seem all that special, but the Falcon enjoys having a lethal mix of APDS and AP-I ammo, with the latter acting as miniature APHE. This means that the Falcon can kill any type of vehicle very quickly, must more quickly than other SPAA. To give Gaijin some credit, they have done a few things to make the Falcon less oppressive, but it's still more effective as a tank destroyer than as an actual anti-air vehicle.

Many of the higher tier SPAA have AP-I while it's actually always been SAP-HEI (realistic). I've never quite understood why Gaijin hasn't named them correctly as it creates confusion when any actual AP-I is used by other SPAA..
Especially when they do have SAPHE rounds in game that are named SAPHE

Lol It wouldn't be Warthunder if the ammo types were properly labeled. They took like 5 years to name APHE and its capped variants correctly.
I thought the Russian APHE was always named correctly. The German and American ones were always considered as APCBC-HE.
@@Azylath Russian APHE has been labeled that way. However, just within the last update (or maybe winds of change?) some of the other APC/APBC/APCBC-HE shells actually say "HE" in the tool-tip popup. It's not really an issue since they added the shell effect animation, but it annoys me it took this long.

@@Anarcho-harambeism at least turrets that run on electric power, need time for it to accelerate to its maximum rotation. It doesnt just instantly hit its maximum degrees per second

When setting up as a SPAA, try to point your vehicle down hill and away from the enemy or near a building you can duck behind. I can't tell you how many times I have raced away from a dropped bomb or dodged a death diver that way.
Yep basic evading in a anti air. But sometimes you get caught out in the open. And usually these kamikaze pilots don’t back down even if your shots are getting close to their pilot. So the next best thing to do is shoot off one wing then the other and run lol
Death divers are always free SL, they punish themselves... Especially when they don't get you 🗿🗿

I find it best to keep moving fast, never slow down if possible. I prefer to operate AA from the corner of a large building or overhanging rock, it partly blocks your shots but if you position yourself right you can dodge around the corner as the bombs/ kamikaze attack. Even circling a small rock is better than nothing.
I see the Crusader II often times get overshadowed by the Crusader III because of the better pen, but I highly recommend you try and play the Crusader II as it has a faster reload, decent pen, better mobility and an extra crewmate.
It's also really nimble with an incredibly fast turret and a shoulder stabilizer.
I agree with this. I have my reload down to…2.4 seconds? If I remember it got moved to 2.7 so the gun is somewhat balanced now.
used the crusader 2 in sim for the first time in forever yesterday, my god i fell in love with it instantly lmao. although it feels like its speed is artificially capped due to its speed suddenly bricking at 26 mph. but i wouldnt be surprised since british tank doctorine is more geared to supporting infantry
@@sniperh2o325 The crusader was specifically designed to be be a cavalry tank. They're designed to be fast and pack a punch. They aren't designed to support infantry.
@@sniperh2o325 A lot of British tanks had a "Speed Govorner" which artificially limited the top speed. This increased engine reliability and meant they could be used for longer, which was especially good in the North Africa Campaign.

The Falcon should have optical tracking where you can aim at a target, lock onto it and you will get a lead indicator. This is what it had irl
What is the system named? Does it relay on radar or some sort?
@@Pribumi1 i am unsure but I believe not. If you look at the falcons turret it has two very large sights, I believe these would be used for tracking

To be honest the scimitar won't be that great since it uses the same dog awful 30mm RARDEN cannon as the Warrior.
@@crazyadam9281 the 30mm RARDEN isn't too bad, i've got a fair amount of kills using it in my warrior, it's only actual let down is the rate of fire which is slow enough to get you killed easily.
Export version of the warrior and the experimental stabalised warrior before new model IFVs. I think the Scorpion would be a much better pick than the scimitar.

I think you actually should try out the Type 93 again, since the last time you played they've made alot of improvements on it, the missile tracks extremely nicely now and the only time i've noticed that it misses , is the 10g limits its turning to hit planes
ontop of the missile being alot more reliable they gave the missile a boresight so you no longer have to look directly at the plane, you can now lead the missile which makes shots within 1-2kms possible!

Whole 2 kilometers?! All this attention to make AA missiles more realistic (and worse), while certain helicopters get to keep their fantacy missile guidance, despite everyone telling how OP they are.
don’t give the man false hope haha, it’s better but only a tiny tiny amount better. it’s true the missile doesn’t give up as hard as it previously did but it’s still pretty bad. also the uncaged seeker, in my experience, only helps with long range shots since you can more effectively lead them so the missile doesn’t have to catch up so hard. if the missile didn’t have that set flight path for the first 0.7s it would be so much better for hitting close targets but as it is i still can’t hit helis or planes under 1.5km :(

@@Teh0X he means hit stuff within 2km range (which is a bit high still i've managed within 1km range) because the missile doesnt track for almost a second so its got a minimum range to engage because of that, but for distances i've hit stuff up to 4.5/5km out a few times so its not the worst fire and forget missile but definitely not the best
Those missiles do an okay job of actually locking onto planes, but as for helis, forget it. Literally impossible to lock on to even within 1 km. As for actually taking down targets, if you manage to lock a plane, keep re-locking and firing more missiles until it dies. If it's a heli, then it'll die after just one missile.
But they nerfed the LAV stingers, IRST, and gun (gun was historical tho) to the point it can't even range anything past 5km
This sparked a question that I was curious about for a while.
For tanks with rear mounted turrets, why do you peak from the side of cover front first?
In a faceoff, likely in an urban environment, I was thinking this would expose the tank longer before being able to fire while also making it slower to get back behind cover (assuming a slower reverse speed). Therefore, if the tank was capable of rotating the turret sufficiently, wouldn't it be better to peak out of cover rear first?
I did the same with falcon when peeking around corner I just go forward instead turning around first and reverse. It just sort of habit as there is not alot of rear turreted tanks in British tree to get used too.
If I wanted to be very extra careful then, I would go reverse first. But falcon does not have neutral steering so it's a waste of time to turn around twice just to peak a corner when you can blitz and surprise your enemy with suppresing fire.
Often the time to get both guns on target is less if you just keep your speed and go round the corner, plus you might be fast enough that they have to adjust their aim and miss.
Spending a bunch of time & making a ton of noise to turn around makes it more likely they'll know where I am and aim bang on the corner, plus my firepower will be halved until my other barrel gets past the corner.
I would enjoy watching a Sturmpanzer uptier montage. I know there are already a lot up on RUclips and it's kind of a dead meme, but I'd be interested to see how you used it. Your playstyle is a lot different than most other War Thunder content creators.

Day 2: Can you play with the japanese Ho-I? It is basically extremely OP. It is mobile, has armor, 15 deg gun depression, and 480 grams of TNT in the APHE. If it detonates, it is a guarantee 1 hit. It also has 90mm pen HEAT too.
Totally agree with you, too many restaurants fall into the same trap of making things spicy for the sake of melting your face off. That’s why stuff like Nashville Hot Chicken is amazing, because it has a great flavor, and THEN the spice kicks in.
bruh this thing is mad shit OP, i grind the whole british 7.0 7.7 line up with falcon back when its still at BR 7 but at 8.0 this shit still slaps harder since everyone got less side armor

There are certain vehicles in the game that makes war thunder into an FPS, the BTR-ZD skrezhy, the PUMA, the begeitelpanzer, the BMP-2M...and the falcon. The fact that it has 1/4 APDS throughout the entire belt makes it a fucking menace.

Me whose favorite SPAA is the ZSU 57-2 which I have a lot of issues killing tanks with but little trouble killing planes with(and I suck with almost all SPAAs with radars, but not the ZSU57-2)

Play a lineup of all the Russian ATGM Carriers next please (IT-1, Shturm-S, and Krizanthema-S).
I'd like you to test all SPAA before radar, give us a guide on what SPAA to avoid at all costs. Personally I find a lot of the pre-radar ones are exceptionally bad .
My guide for non radar SPAA is only picked the one that has high rate of fire and a decent reload even if it is only about 70 round per mag (ystervak for example and not crusader aa mk1)

@@crazyadam9281 well I'm having a decent time with it, you just have to be very aware of your surroundings and turn your hull so that the turret can move freely at the exact angle. But I understand that the big driver pod is sometimes hindering the turret to do it's job.
It has always had 1 apds to 2 SAPHE and 1 HEI now it is just in different order

"I wish this game was better" That becomes so true, like I literally can't play War Thunder at all by the looks of it, cause every time I boot it, my PC decides to restart, I opened a ticket about it, but nothing came of it, it just got worse to the point of unplayability. It's obvious to me that the most recent major update "Danger Zone" caused my issues, I had no issues on my older hardware (literally talking old-ass FX-6300 CPU, no issues) but on the 15th June my PC decides to burn a wire leading into my Motherboard, causing my CPU and/or Motherboard to be fried, aswell as the death of an old PSU. All parts were fixed days after, but I then noticed the PC restarting thing.
If anyone does know why this happens and how I could possibly fix it, I'd be happy to know.

0:15 this isn't how you should play the type 93, the primary function of it is scouting, the AA is secondary. the best way to play is to get somewhere unexpected where other vehicles can't and just scout
too bad your team often doesn’t utilize those scouts haha. it’s a pitiful AA but if you have patience and a lot of luck you can sometimes make it work.
I usually try to get as close to the enemy spawn as i can and let aircraft make a pass or two to feel “safe” before launching and that seems to work better

British tree does kinda suck ATM. You can't take CAS out because it's 15k. And you now can't take out challenger 1 MK2 and Vickers Mk7 because they're 10k. And then there's no real mobile IFVs and the rooikat MTTD is basically useless because it's turret is so damn big. The only thing we have is the warrior something thats extremely hit or miss. The only fun I have with British rn is 6.0 with centurion MK1 4.7 with the firefly avenger and concept or weirdly 6.7 with the ratel or 7.0 with the ratel and the fv4002

If you play the Type 93 you should bring it out at top tier since that’s what Japan players have to do if they want any kind of AA at 11.0. It’s a really fun experience…

the Type 93 is actually not bad. it just takes some situational awareness, aim and TRAINING to make it work.
you can actually get sideways to you plying jets pretty ok if you lead them right and since they expect to be invincible at this move they usually dont dodge the missile.
you can reach some very exotic spots with the type 93 which allows you to pretty much spot the whole map for your team.
idk what it is but if people see the type93 they MUST kill it no matter what. you can use this to give your teammate a good sideshot on a enemy trying to traverse after you.
i had it many time that a enemy was in a 1o1 and as soon as they saw me in the type 93 they turned hull and turret totally exposing them self to the opponent while trying to get me.
You should post that stuff about an impersonator on your community tab, not everyone might find it in this video

Try the 3inch gun carrier. That thing is way too much fun. When you angle it it turns into a mouse.
The Spicy food thing is so true. I went to Dave's Hot Chicken and it wasn't as good as Popeyes. The main ingredient is just paprika, don't get me wrong I'm half Brazilian so i use it in almost everything but you gotta have a lot more than just paprika a little sugar and then your sauce.
Speaking of the Gaijin "sound fix" have you tried air RB with jets? The beginning of the match is literally painful

To be fair on engine sound. The Marder could've had the engine off. And then turned it on after the kill. Since the engine start up and drive away time is short

I really love how on desert maps the hull gets dusty really fast but the turret stays perfectly clean. I’m not sure if that’s dumb or lazy or both. Probably both.
