WOW ! What a stunning piece of wood. That piece has more character than a theater full of actors. Awesome Jack Mack , just awesome. Love what you create sir.
@@JackMackWoodturning yes and I love it! I spend the summer gathering and splitting wood so I can enjoy it during the winter. My gas bill is very low in the winter because I have the wood burner. If it’s cold enough for my furnace to kick on it’s time to build a fire.

Hi Jack this piece of wood has so much character and you have madeit into a magnificent and unique piece of art. You really are clever and a masterwoodturner. Thank you for a great video. Amanda xx
I appreciate your opinion but I disagree. This is just part of everyone having different tastes though. I like to only use resin when I need to and this piece didn’t need it, no need to fill cracks and holes as they are an honest representation of the wood.
Super gorgeous! Such complexity. I’m really surprised about how there’s so much bumpiness. I’m not knowledgeable of woodworking so it’s all new to me. So that definitely explains why I’m surprised.
@@JackMackWoodturning , Hihi... You're funny. Yes. You're right literally. In this case, I mean 'Message through eyes without sound'. What message? The life after death. Whose life? Whose death? The existent log from its entire felled tree.

I love it and use it a lot. Please feel free. I think it came to me from fellow turner Phil Anderson from Shady Acres Woodturning. 99% of my turnings are FOG wood. I love the rustic natural look. Keep up the good work pal.@@JackMackWoodturning
Love what you do, seriously magic. Could you do a standard (normal magic) video with a timer in the corner for time spent. Would honestly like to know how long it takes for the magic to happen. Like just time spent on each step/eide step
😆… I don’t know what click bait is anymore, you lot throw it about so freely I don’t understand the definition. No one said there was something special about the wood. I said it sold at auction for £2600

Dude that is absaloutley Beautiful. I just started turning today. Can i ask your advice. I don't have a chuck yet/potentially not able to for my lathe. Can a bowl be done with a face plate?? 🏴👍
Yes it can but it’s not easy and you’d be better off learning with a chuck. Woodturning needs a lathe, but just as important is a sharpening device and a chuck. Second hand chucks are more affordable. What is it about your lathe that makes it not able to take a chuck ?
@@JackMackWoodturning well for starters it's a cheap supermarket parkside lathe to try. My thinking was get this learn a bit then upgrade. a believe it's an M18 thread from what ave found online. I have a set of traditional gouges and managed a small mallet today out of 2x2 pine which for my first time turning was quite impressed with myself with. Although allot knowledge has come from your videos many hours of watching them. Sharpening wise I don't have anything specific right now I have access to a bench grinder and have belt sander but that's all I have right now. I follow dalebasidtimber in Australia he seems very knowledgeable but hard sometimes to compare with the set up and legnth time he's been doing it. Any advice would be very helpful or if you had email address could send u bunch questions
My advice to all beginner turners is the same. If you would like to learn to turn wood you first need to learn to sharpen your tools. Your tools will be dull within 5-10 min of turning then everything starts going wrong and nothing is cutting and it becomes impossible to learn anything. If you want to learn properly, firstly you need to get an actual lathe. Record power lathes tend y be on eBay all the time and you can pick one up for about 100 quid. Next you need a grinder and woodturning sharpening jigs. Again, the jigs are on eBay and don’t break the bank. Sounds like you have tools already. Then you need a chuck. Another £100 Nothing too expensive or hard to attain You can learn the basics of sharpening from RUclips tutorial videos. And any specific questions you have along the way you can fire at me in the comment section of any of my videos here on RUclips. 👍🏻👍🏻

Great hollow form. Thought you might fill some of the cracks (not the voids). But it sure looks great just like it is. Great piece.

In many ways this reminds me of the pottery that the Navajo Indians would make, except this is of a beautiful wood.
