Stacy Bryant the BLM doesn’t send mustangs to slaughter. They won’t treat it if there’s no sign of it inhibiting her daily life. If it got so bad she couldn’t eat and wouldn’t likely recover they would put her down humanely
@@CowgirlGoneJumper Maybe it's not interfering now, but who knows months down the line. If they can treat whatever is causing it, assuming it is something fairly simple, wouldn't it make her more adoptable?
@@Lioness006 it's most likely a hive from bug bites or some swelling from hitting her face on the panels. Wild horses have a smaller chance of getting cancer/abscesses than domestic ones. Horse is fine as long as she eats and drinks. A small bump is not going to kill her

Hey Camille, I was wondering if you could tell me in detail how Ellen signed up for the youth makeover because I would love to enter myself for the next one! Hope you see this cause I could really use the help, thanks!
Mustangs are not for novices! Unless the buyer has a trainer set up or is an experienced trainer, buying a wild mustang can be a bad and even fatal choice. I hope you emphasize this to your audience because I know of a few "trainers" who have tried selling wild caught, newly broke mustangs to novice riders, even to one friend of mine who had NO horse experience! No matter how well a trainer trains a wild horse, it does take years of life experience for any horse, any breed, to be considered a well broke horse.
Good decision to let the injured horse return to holding. You have to dedicate your time to a horse that will be adoptable. And with a sore in/on her mouth, may be difficult/impossible to train.
Their build makes them very good for roping or any ranch work. They have good feet usually (the ones I have worked with have). I have trained a few for my families ranch and they do amazing at ranch work.
I have to ask, as an orphan without parents: whose advice helped you the most when making that tough decision to pick out another horse? I would have been heartbroken and probably stayed with the original horse to my demise. Who knows? Good choice kiddo!
They'll probably keep an eye on her and if she gets to a point where she can't eat they'll probably dart her so they can work on it, but they can't do intense.stuff because you can't put these horses on stall rest
They are feral (meaning semi-wild) they are from the horses released by farmers, Calvary or escaped ranch horses when the USA was being colonized and moving west. There are so many because they don't have any predators like wolves to keep the population in check.
Youth generally just 'halter break". They compete in hand, like showmanship, and in hand obstacle course, not under saddle like the adults, Its a little bit easier because you have more time to focus on groundwork, and much safer! The adults have to do both, show in hand and under saddle. The Extreme Mustang Makeover is one of the competition names, they host both a youth and adult competition.
Love your videos and your love for horses, put please sweety don’t do video interviews while your driving, I beg you, I takes just a blink of a sec by taking your eyes off the road and it’s all over for you and maybe some poor innocent person or family . Please keep safe
I've only been riding for 7 months and I already really want a mustang I dont know how to train a horse at all. My trainer is training a mustang and im really interested but I feel like sense im still a noob in the horse world I wont be able to train one🤷 Love you Please read this💖
There are plenty of mustangs out there that are already trained and beginner safe. I bet your trainer can point you in the right direction if you tell her what you are hoping for. Alternatively, maybe your trainer will let you help with their current one. :) Even the seemingly small stuff will teach you tons.
Keep riding, soon enough you'll learn the ways of the horse and understand how they move and respond to the way you move. If you like reading, I recommend books by Monty Roberts. He has some haters because he hasn't always gotten stuff 100% correct but not no one is perfect, and the only way you can learn is to make mistakes Also, when you are confident enough and your trainer let's you, try riding bareback. It'll show you how a horse moves and responds to pressure of your legs better.

How many years have you done these extreme horse makeover?
If I'm unable to go feed the horses how much do you think it cost to hire somebody the pick them up and drop them off to the property
@Taylor I ty
Is there a way to get a hold of an unhandled mustang outside of competition?
I know this question is 3 years old, but yes! Google BLM Online Corral.
Would a mustang make a good rope horse? Don’t know much about them just looking to learn!
Billy - Have no doubt that mustangs can do anything that any other horse can do!
So you keep them after?
No she will be auctioned off at the makeover
Nope. They are auctioned off but you can bid on your own horse
Do you know what happened to the one you didn’t take home? Do they treat abscesses like that?
Odds are they probably won't help the horse....I doubt her future is very promising. Sad but true, unless someone takes pity on her
They'll probably keep an eye on her and if she gets to a point where she can't eat they'll probably dart her so they can work on it, but they can't do intense.stuff because you can't put these horses on stall rest
Good decision???
I Know this was a while back but I was re watching it and wondering if ellen(Sorry if spelled wrong)Has a youtube channel?if not she should!
If you haven't trained a horse before, should you get an untrained mustang?
Hucklebrooke 123 nope nope nope nope nope. Not unless you’re working alongside a very experienced trainer
I figured
ok im from uk and just found channel and im lost on mustang why are they wild and so many and how does this all work
They are feral (meaning semi-wild) they are from the horses released by farmers, Calvary or escaped ranch horses when the USA was being colonized and moving west.
There are so many because they don't have any predators like wolves to keep the population in check.
Can someone please tell me the difference between youth & extreame?
Youth generally just 'halter break". They compete in hand, like showmanship, and in hand obstacle course, not under saddle like the adults, Its a little bit easier because you have more time to focus on groundwork, and much safer! The adults have to do both, show in hand and under saddle. The Extreme Mustang Makeover is one of the competition names, they host both a youth and adult competition.
That’s too bad that you had to pick out another mustang😕
new to all of this.. how does it work? can anyone interested in adopting/buying a horse go to this? what type of buyers usually go to these?
As long as you fulfill the requirements, you can get approved to adopt. Google BLM Online Corral, the info is all there.
Wow tu si que adoptas muchos caballos mustang que deverian estar el libertad
Love your videos and your love for horses, put please sweety don’t do video interviews while your driving, I beg you, I takes just a blink of a sec by taking your eyes off the road and it’s all over for you and maybe some poor innocent person or family . Please keep safe
Darwin's Way.
I've only been riding for 7 months and I already really want a mustang I dont know how to train a horse at all. My trainer is training a mustang and im really interested but I feel like sense im still a noob in the horse world I wont be able to train one🤷
Love you
Please read this💖
There are plenty of mustangs out there that are already trained and beginner safe.
He has some haters because he hasn't always gotten stuff 100% correct but not no one is perfect, and the only way you can learn is to make mistakes
Also, when you are confident enough and your trainer let's you, try riding bareback. It'll show you how a horse moves and responds to pressure of your legs better.
Can you keep the mustangs? Because I dont really know. I might look for one in the future
You have to auction them off at the end, but you can bid against the public to see if you can outbid them.
@@Polopony20. thanks for letting me know
You can keep the mustang you adopt/buy from the BLM... Just not the EMM/Mustang Makeover horses, they are auctioned at the end.
