    *As someone who is currently attempting this, some notes:
    -100' of 14 gauge wire from Lowe's $10
    -5 pool noodles $2.28/piece
    -Mold builder clay (Hobby Lobby) $17
    -Rubber cement (Hobby Lobby) $6
    -164' of monofilament fishing cord .012 in (Hobby Lobby) $3
    -1" craft brushes (Hobby Lobby) $2.50
    -Suction cups (Amazon) Dahshzi brand, a set of 100 at 30mm and a set of 100 at 45mm. (way more than I will ever need), $10 and $12 respectively.
    Makers notes:
    -I did not have a large enough knife on hand really to cut as smoothly as Dalton. After some trial and error (drywall blade too serated, smaller serated knife not enough; box cutter too short) I ended up using our large bread knife to trim the noodle ends down. I then took a block of fine sandpaper to smooth out all my rough cuts.
    -I am also finding the monofilament line a LOT of work. I tied off sections in 4" segments and it took about 1 hr per noodle. I ended up buying some 11", very thin, clear zip ties that will probably cinch much tighter than the line and also go so much quicker. Those were $6 from Amazon.

    As someone trying this years later, I'm still in the process. I don't know if I missed it, but I ran the wire end to end, and I found that carving the tips is a lot easier if you leave some space at the end where you glue, so you can still secure the wire but you're not accidentally running into wire as you carve.

    I came for tentacles and I subscribed too. The result is really good. It almost look glow in the dark at the end. I assume you put a spot light under it? Love your channel, your creativity and your energy. Thank you so much for sharing your talent.

    Is liquid latex absolutely necessary?? I’m just lazy wondering if acrylic paint is enough on its own?

    Great work with these. I'm going to make these for next Halloween but I also want to make them animated. Just spit-balling but if I run a line equal distance on 4 sides of the noodle and connect them to the tip then at the base I could pull on any one line and move it in that direction. Have you attempted or thought of this? I'll probably need to do a proof of concept on this to see if it's even possible.

    I'm currently making these. My suction cups seem to keep falling out. I did what you said and poked a hole and then used hot glue. Does all the paint help them stay in better? It is harder than it looks to do the cement and paint (messy to hold). Is there any way to make the ends look pointer and nicer? Mine don't look like yours. I was curious if I can wrap them a bit in the plastic wrap and heat gun them to shape and then paint? hmm

      I saw that they had knives specifically for pool noodle crafting on dollar tree site must buy in bulk on there but only 3 req. for that item @$1.25 ea, tho I see this comment was a month ago, but for future reference.. also idk if it works any better, I'm about to begin meaning these for an Ursula costume haven't started just yet 😅

    • @middletonsl
      @middletonsl Год назад

      Also maybe the hot glue gun is too hot, melting away more of the pool noodle than desired..idk
