From one retired teacher to another, thanks. I have to replace both sliders but had a problem because the bar where the rivet goes, was stuck and wouldn't sliders down. Had to catch the broken part with some vice grips and than tap the grips with a hammer to free that bar from the other bar that covered it. Thanks again.
RUclips and the people at Camping World helped me know I could repair the awning arm.
Hey thanks for the video! Really helped us repair our part!
Glad it helped!
Thank you so much for doing this video, I have a slider that is plastic band one of the sides broke off and this video will help me tremendously!!!
So glad we could help!
Thanks, great instruction, got ours replaced in no time! We listened and learned!
Glad we could help!
I appreciate your video & would like to add a suggestion. When removing the old rivet, I found it much easier to drill it out from the SIDE instead of drilling through the top/head of the rivet. That way you don't damage the hole in the awning arm or make it bigger. Just drill it in half and pull out the 2 pieces from the holes the rivet was installed through.
Thanks for the tip!
@@TwoTiredTeachers you're welcome & thanks for the video tip itself! You've probably helped a lot of people!
Thank you for the video.
Thank you.
THANK YOU Sharon! Bought my RV pre-owned. Those 2 tiny set screws you put in last ... were missing & I just couldn't figure out what I had done wrong when the arm piece kept sliding outta that track!
I don't believe in paying for ANYTHING to be done unless I am absolutely UNQUALIFIED TO LEARN!
First, we think pre-owned is the only way to buy an RV. Glad this video saved you some money.
Hi, Where did you find the screws to replace the missing ones? Do you remember the size of these screws?
Thank you so much for your videos. Our awning had a run in with a telephone pole and took out some of these parts and I had no idea how to get the rivets out. You Rock Girl!!
Beth Hoeldtke any time i can save a visit to the repair shop is another trip for us 😃
I hate when they do that! Lol.
Very helpful and well explained thank you!
Thank you so very much for such a nice comment.

That was awesome! thank you so much!
Glad you enjoyed it.
That slider is $52 here in Australia. Thanks for the information, I thought it was going to be a bit more difficult! Thanks again
Glad I could help!
Exactly what i needed to know. Thanks :)
Glad we could help.
Good video. Very clear.
Thanks.
Very nice video. Thanks for your big help.
Happy to help
Thank you, I have been wondering how to get the new rivet in there. I was confused because it doesn't fit any rivet gun. I didn't even think of the simplest way, which was to hammer it down. Thanks again. Now I can fix my awning.
Glad we could help.
Thank you for sharing this with us...i am about to undertake this exact task and this video will be so very helpful.
It worked for us. Hope you are successful.
Not sure if you guys gives a damn but if you guys are bored like me atm you can watch all the new series on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend these days =)
@Duke Gannon yea, been watching on InstaFlixxer for years myself =)
@@dukegannon7607 Good information.
Onya Ladies. Bloody good work.
Thanks very much for your comment. Sharon got to repair the awning arm twice: once on each side. By the second time, it was easier.
thank u
good job, easy to follow, you know how to teach ;-)
First, please accept my apology for being so late responding to your comment. I didn't see it. We ordinarily reply within two or three days unless we're traveling.
We are so glad our video helped. With a combined 60+ years, we've spent a bit of time teaching. :-)
Thanks for the video, just broke mine today 😆😭
Hope the video helped.
I like her alot !!
She does all our minor repairs, and some that aren't so minor.
Awesome.......
Thank you.
@@TwoTiredTeachers I have been looking at this crazy awning for months. Now the arm will be here today and I will be able to open it. Gotta fix the slider in the track and put on the new arm. Yay, 71 and im still kicking butt. Thank you again for your videos.
We are so glad we could help.
Thanks for the video. I was surprised you would leave your awning out while you where away from you RV!?
We don't leave it out often, and after that episode we leave the awning out rarely when we're not at the campsite.
@@TwoTiredTeachers A few years ago our awning was out and there was a little breeze but nothing to be concerned about. Then a huge gust came up, we were right there and began to put the awning away. Within seconds the awning ripped away from the roof of the trailer and it was all over. So I'm a bit hypersensitive to wind and my "new" awning. I've found that if we have mild winds & the direction is right, I can leave the awning out about 4-5 feet (while we are there) and there's no danger. But I don't have the courage to leave my awning out while I leave my campsite after the experience of it ripping off while we were holding it. Really enjoy your videos!
@@ceetee2021 Thanks for telling us about that. I imagine we won't be leaving the awning out when we aren't at the campsite.
Hello! I am a trainer for an insurance company. I love your videos and they would be great to educate our new folks. How should I go about contacting you all for permission to show them in training classes?
You can start by sending a private message to our email at twotiredteachers@yahoo.com. Please include the company for which you work and how and why you would use our videos. We will get back to you, but it may take as long as a month.
How long would you say the entire repair took you?
It took just over 30 minutes. Great question. The longest part was drilling out old piece.
Do you have video on how to replace the lift handle
I'm not sure if this video will help. Let me ask the other tired teacher tomorrow (actually later today) and see if she knows.
I talked with Sharon. We do not have a video on how to replace the lift handle. Our how to/repair videos are shot based on the problems we have with our RV. Thankfully, we haven't had that problem yet. If you live near a camping world, they could probably talk you through the repair. Good luck with your repair.
Awesome thanks for the heads up I wish she would have left it alone
She made this repair twice on our fifth wheel.
how did u smash down the rivet
I put it on the garage floor (where I was drilling) but I pulled the awning arm back into the garage so that the rivet was on the higher part & the part of the slider that goes into the grove was outside the garage. Then put the flat side of the rivet down, against the garage floor & hit the open side with a hammer a couple of times.
Hope that is clear. Thanks for watching,
Thanks for sharing.PREPARE FOR THE END OF TIMES!! SHALOM!
What’s the part called and where can I order them from?
Unfortunately there are different parts. To be sure, take the part off and carry it to a camping or RV store with you. We went to Camping World because we knew we could return it.
You are using a Robertson screw.
Thanks for the info. We try to be accurate, but sometimes we aren't very successful.
@@TwoTiredTeachers I found your video very easy to follow and informative.
You don't have to tell us about your life story you talk talk talk talk talk Why turn you do get to the point
One of the reasons we talk is because to us it's boring to just watch someone doing the repetitive motion that's required for this repair. Another reason is that many of our subscribers want to get to know us. Sorry you didn't appreciate the commentary.
That's okay... Your information is valuable .
Some just don't understand the world we need to live.
